I've been told I am not to tell this story to anyone beyond those who already know it. No one is supposed to know the details.
So why, you might ask, am I going against what the police told me, and telling you anyways? Because you need to be warned. Evil is out there. It hides behind beautiful disguises and only then does it come out to play with us, the unsuspecting innocent. It blindsides you, has its fun, takes everything from you, and moves onto the next. That's how it works in real life.
What my name is doesn't matter. For now, you can call me Katherine. That is not my real name. I will not tell you my real name. I won't tell you where this happened. Neither matters.
All you need to know was that this started when they found Stephanie Kindle's body at the end of the summer. That was off a highway seventy-six miles away from my town. There was nothing overly remarkable about it, just a seventeen year old girl's body found in the ditch at the side of the road. There was virtually no evidence. Her killer was never caught.
Serena came to our school a month later. I don't know if that's really her name. It is the name she gave us.
I should add: if you ask anyone about this story, they will tell you it is false. It is made up. Who can blame them? But rest assured that no matter what they may say, this is a true story. I intend on telling you every event that happened here with as much truth as I know. There is a reason why I'm where I am, shakily writing this on a hospital notepad.
I am not telling you this to amuse you. I do not intend on crafting a creative tale. I am telling you all of this to warn you. She is coming.
A/N: Hey, my lovely readers!
Welcome to my attempt at writing a little bit of horror. I started this during NaNoWriMo 2011, and it's (still...) in progress, but I thought I'd share with you what I have, so I'd love some input as I try to get this thing off the ground :)
(Also, if you don't know NaNoWriMo, Google it :) and then write for it! I'm planning this year's already!)
