Around and around in

Dizzying circles, perpetually moving –

I've done this all before.

For the while, I am safe,

Safe with others like me,

Only to leave them, glistening wet;

Lured by the siren's call

Of true light – a false, empty promise

That the cycle will end.

I see the darkened storm clouds,

Critical, silent sentinels

Watching me fall away,

Away from their embrace.

Away from home.

I do not cry as I tumble down,

Down into the cold, cruel night,

But they thunder angrily, for

I have done this all before.
