(A/N: This is a song that I wrote specifically for my book The Silver Book. The main character's (Adira) father, Markus, sings her this song when she's upset to help calm her down, so to the story it has a significant and deeper meaning that will be fully uncovered later on that involves more than just Adira and Markus themselves, but many other characters as well.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to read (and review, possibly)!

Happy reading, happy writing.

I hope you go to sleep at night

When you're nestled in, all snug and tight,

And when you miss my gentle kiss

I hope this song falls from your lips;

"I've got the secret t'happiness.

I've got it held tightly in my hands,

And I ain't gonna give it away—

'cause I'm not a sharin' man.

Oh—I'm not a sharin' man..."

If you say that you're gonna go

I'll pray that you don't make it so—

'Cause if you're gone too long

I'll sadly be singin' this song;

"I've got the secret t'happiness.

I've got it held tightly in my hands,

And I ain't gonna give it away—

'Cause I'm not a sharin' man.

Oh—I'm not a sharin' man..."

If you say that you're gonna go

I'll pray that you don't make it so—

'Cause if you're gone for too long

I'll sadly be singin' this song;

"I've got the secret t'happiness.

I've got it held tightly in my hands,

And I ain't gonna give it away—

'cause I'm not a sharin' man.

Oh—I'm not a sharin' man..."

You're my secret t'happiness.
