"She's going to be okay, Walter."

"How do you know that?"

"I-I just know. She's strong, Walter. Because you've always been strong for her. You have to stay strong. For her."

"I'm tired of this, all of this. Sometimes I almost give up. Sometimes I wish she would give up. She's always been the strong one, not me. Her."

"I know hospitals have always been a place of goodbyes for you, but we're all here for you, for Sarah. We pray every day for her. God has always blessed her."

"No, God blessed me. I was a burden for her, always have been. She's the strong one. If she's going to get through this, it's not going to be because of me."

"Don't say that, Walter. You know how much you mean to her. You're the world to her. She needs you so much right now. She's going to be okay, you need to have hope."

"I've been hoping for her to be okay for so damn long, Clark. She's dying, don't you understand? My Sarah is dying and I can't do anything about it. Over these past few months, I've just been accepting it. Married for forty-three years and this is what we get. This is what she gets. You know what is the worst, though?"

"Having everything you ever needed, everything you ever wanted, and being able to share that with no one."

"You shared everything with Sarah, Walter, everything. Don't go downhill like this now. She-"

"Needs me, I know. I need her, too. Oh, Clark, I need her so much more."

"I know, Walt, I know..."

"You know, I never forgot what she said to me the night I proposed to her. Forty-three years ago, and I still remember. I will always remember."

"What did she say?"

"'Love is watching someone die.' I spent years trying to figure out what she meant, and I know what it means now?"

"What does it mean?"

"If Sarah dies, who's going to watch me die? Who is going to watch me die, Clark?"

"Sarah will, because she is with you. She will always be with you no matter what. God wouldn't take her away from you like that. A-Alive or not, she will be with you, Walter."

"Yeah, I wish. I hope."

"She needs you. She needs you closer than you are now. Sarah would die if you weren't strong for her, if you gave up on her. You haven't given up yet, I can tell. Sarah has a lot of fight left in her, because you do, too."

"If only I could have one more minute with her, one more night with her. I'm watching my wife die, Clark, and there's nothing I can do about it."

"Pray, Walt, that's what you can do. That's what you need to do. Pray."
