Never in my wildest dreams did would I think that I would introducing the 'girl of my dreams' to someone else. I must admit that it was sort of my fault that I'm introducing her. I pushed her to it.

I should start from the beginning, should I? Well, here it goes.

Marie was one of my friends since forever. She's one of my best friends outside the gang, and we just live right next to each other.

While I liked to be active and play a ton of sports, she on the other hand, doesn't. I've been pushing her to come and watch one of my games, and even guilt-tripping her that, since I've always been there to support her, it's time that she returned the favor. But with Marie being Marie, my persuasions were futile.

It had taken a good 3 months of non-stop whining on my part to get her to watch my next 7 games.

So, the big day came, and true to her word, Marie was there, in the stands with everyone else, in between Steph and Nate. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't realize that I was staring at her until Annika kept 'ahem-ing' (loudly, mind you) at me.

"Come on, lover boy. You'll get your chance AFTER the game." she said. It was a mixes game. You know, boys and girls can play in one team. Annika and 2 other girls are part of our starting XI.

So the game went off without a hitch and we won by a landslide of 7-0, with Alex scoring a hat trick and I scoring a brace myself.

After the game, Marie, the gang and I went out to dinner at Pizza hut, and there was a lot of chatter about, as usual, everything. Plans after high school, nasty teachers, corny jokes, this creature off the coast of Japan that they say is much bigger than the Titanic and yet was considered friendly.

"Did you just see James out there?" Steph opened another topic.

"Oh my God, he was smokin' out there!" Lyra supplied. Everyone laughed.

James "the Opener" Knight. A midfielder and our teammate, who gets along with practically everyone. Even his exes. Geez, that guy is so good that it's kind of hard to hate him. They called him 'the Opener' for a reason. He almost always scores the opening goal in every match he started in. Smart kid too. He's in my AP Chem class which is kind of hard, considering the only other students in that class are Annika, Kenan, Lyra, Albert who is very smart as well as arrogant, and Alan who is a whiz at chemistry. But anyway...

"You've been awfully quiet here." I nudged Marie who sat beside me.

"I just like listening to your friends talk." She laughed.

I laughed as well. "They're your friends too, you know."

"Yes, well, but you're closer to them." She said in a matter-of-fact tone.

I was about to reply when Steph said, "Well, Marie here can't keep her eyes off of James, couldn't you, Mars?" At this, Marie blushed.

"Well, in my defense, he almost always had the ball," she tried. Steph just smiled knowingly and we went on talking again about that friendly, bigger than the Titanic-sized creature.

After dinner, Marie and I got in my car, and drove us home.

It was an unusually silent drive home, which was weird, since when it was just the two of us, we were particularly chatty with each other.

"What's wrong?" I broke the silence.

"Hmm?" She lifted her head. "Oh, nothing. Nothing's wrong, Rocky."

Something is definitely wrong. She never called me Rocky unless there's something wrong. So, I stopped the car in the middle of the road.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

I raised an eyebrow. I wanted an answer. I always get my answers.

"You seriously want me to believe that?" I tried again. "Come on, Marie. I know you like the back of my hand. I could seriously tell when something's bothering you."

"I know you like me." She said with a blush.

I froze. Holy shit, how did she know.

"It's ok, Roc, really. But I have to say, I don't like you in that way." She explained. "I see you as more of a brother. I'm sorry."

I don't know what to say. For the first time in my adolescent life, I didn't know what to say. I knew that, but it kind of caught me by surprise.

"Who told you that?" Was the first thing right out of my mouth.

She laughed. The woman actually laughed. Shut up, Marie.

"It doesn't really matter who told me. I kind of knew, but didn't think much of it." She smiled.

"So, Steph was right then?" I asked, "You like James, don't you?" I continued.

She blushed crimson. I suppressed a laugh.

"Oh, stop it, Rocco." She slapped my arm lightly. "He's nice, smart, athletic..." She went on, until she got to the end. "...And good-looking to boot."

Now, I really had to laugh.

"Stop it!" She laughed along.

"Ok, ok." I calmed down a bit. "But do you actually know the guy?" I raised a brow and smiled smugly.

"Well..." She trailed. "No, but I was hoping..." Then she grinned. Lord Zeus, I really don't like where this conversation is going.

"Roccotoy.." She said, all sweet and looking innocent.

THAT BITCH! She knew I couldn't resist her looking like that! She's using it against me!

That bitch.

I let out a sigh. "Fine, fine fineee."

So this is where we began. I was sitting on the grass with Marie, when James suddenly appeared behind us. As usual, Marie was all shy, but she's the one who concocted up this plan, and I had to, unwillingly mind you, go with it.

Let me reiterate myself: That bitch.

In the end, he asked her out to dinner, while I sat here thinking why the hell did I just give away my long time crush to someone else.

So what do you guys think? Love it or hate it? :) Review! x
