Rosie's Book

This is probably one of the shortest I've ever written... 202 words.

"Hey Rosethorn!" Lyrebird waved as he came into the room.

Rosethorn glanced up from her scroll. "Hi." She glanced down again.

Undeterred, the shape-shifter ran up to her. "What's that?"

"It's a book."

Lyrebird looked at the 'book'.

It was a long strip of material in a circular shape.

"Uh, sure." Lyrebird agreed. "Why doesn't it look like all the other books?"

"Because this is from my time." Rosethorn answered coolly.

Lyrebird reached forwards and lithely grabbed it.

"Hey! Give it – what are you doing?"

Lyrebird had wrapped the 'book' in a hijab shape over his head, looping it in a circle around his neck and then wrapping it over the top of his head.

"Doesn't it look good?" Lyrebird sounded worried.

Rosethorn groaned and rolled her eyes. "It's… it's not for that!" She grabbed the book off him.

"But…"

Rosethorn shot a glare at him that could have killed.

Lyrebird flushed. "Never mind."

Rosethorn scrolled down her book again and began to walk out of the room, still reading.

She crashed hard into a wall.

Lyrebird ran up to her. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Rosethorn snapped, walking out.

"You sure? Wait, Rosie, Rosethorn, answer me!" Lyrebird ran after her. "Rosie!"
