'Don't wait until it's too late to tell someone how much you love, how much you care. Because when they're gone no matter how loud you shout or cry they won't hear you anymore'

I woke up New Year's Day and looked at the time, it was 12:30 in the afternoon and if I didn't leave now I was going to be late. I was going to meet Hiro at the airport to welcome him back home because he was coming back before his parents. After I put on a pair of jeans my black boots, a maroon shirt, and my black pea coat I got into my car and drove the forty minutes to the airport. After finding a parking spot, I grabbed the small sign I made and walked in just as they were announcing that his flight just landed.

I ran to his gate and waited for him to come out; when the doors opened I stood up on one of the chairs and held up the sign. That's when I saw him walking out of the doors with his carry on. He looked around and then spotted me and pulled me down into a hug.

"Happy Birthday Elaine." He whispered while pulling out of the hug. I gave him a huge smile.

"So Hiro what did you bring me back from Japan?" I asked excited because of the email he had sent me last week.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Hiro said with a smirk then hiding his carry on behind his back. As I tried to reach around him he shifted causing me to miss the bag.

"Come on Hiro it's my Birthday it's not nice to tease." He laughed and then pulled a wrapped package out of his carry on. I sat down and unwrapped the package, while I was unwrapping it Hiro laughed and sat next to me.

After the paper was gone I opened the box and pulled out a huge plush Akamaru from the anime Naruto. After seeing it I began to squeal and hugged it.

"Thank you, thank you Hiro so much!" I finished while hugging Hiro.

"You missed something Elaine. In the box there's one more thing." When I looked down in the box I saw an envelope and ripped it open and pulled out a photograph of a white kimono with red cherry blossoms and a red obe.

"Hiro you shouldn't have." I said quietly looking up at him.

"I said that if you passed Japanese three with an A+ I would buy you one."

"I thought you were joking."

"Elaine I would never joke about that. I promised and I kept it." He said pushing my hair out of my face. "Now come on we better start heading home." He said while standing up and throwing away the trash. After we got his suitcase we headed to my car and put the suitcase and my gifts in the trunk. On the way back to our town we blasted the radio and talked about Hiro's trip. I learned about how his grandmother has a huge temper and threw a fit at her husband's sushi bar when a customer didn't have the money and made him work for the day. It was very entertaining. When we got home Hiro invited me into his house for a little before I had to go home. We walked into his house with his suitcase and his now empty carry on.

After he put his suitcase in his room he came back out to the front room where I was sitting on the couch. He plopped down next to me and looked at me then picked up the TV. remote.

"So how are you and Lindsey doing?" I asked while watching the channel he turned on.

"We're okay. She's just really clingy is all it's kind of annoying really. I think I might break up with her. What do you think?"

"I can't say Hiro." I said nervously looking down.

Hiro turned to me and moved slightly closer. "Why not Elaine I just want your opinion." Hiro said while chuckling slightly.

"I can't tell you because my opinions biased." I mumbled while blushing.

"What do you mean Elaine?" After Hiro said this I grabbed his face and pressed my lips against his he responded almost immediately causing me too suddenly to pull back and him to let go.

"I…I have to go." I said while running out the door. Hiro grabbed my wrist.

"Elaine I'm sorry but I don't f…"

"Let me go." I snapped at him while pulling out of his grasp and leaving.

The next day, after talking to my parents, I called my school asking for early graduation because I had completed all of my credits already. Also I accepted my early admittance to Hawaii Pacific University, I couldn't stay here I needed to get away and now was the perfect opportunity.

Hiro's POV

I went to school at the end of break planning on talking to Elaine but I got to school late so I had to head straight to class. Then I remembered that it was my World Religions class which I had with Elaine.

As I walked into the class I looked for Elaine but I didn't see her anywhere maybe she was running behind like me. The teacher walked in shortly after I sat down.

"Good morning class I have a very exciting announcement to make. One of our very own students has been granted early admittance by Hawaii Pacific University her name is Elaine O'Conner and she left last night. Now everyone open your books to page ten." Elaine left and didn't even tell me.

When I got home that day I went straight into my music room and walked to my piano and opened my notebook to a blank page. I began with the tune I wanted for the song then I began with the lyrics.

A month later my song was done the recording was perfect and edited. As I played it on my computer and began to sing along with the lyrics:

Should've kissed you there

I should've held your face

I should've watched those eyes

Instead of run in place

I should've called you out

I should've said your name

I should've turned around

I should've looked again
But oh, I'm staring at the mess I made

I'm staring at the mess I made

I'm staring at the mess I made

As you turn, you take your heart and walk away
Should've held my ground

I could've been redeemed

For every second chance

That changed its mind on me

I should've spoken up

I should've proudly claimed

That oh my head's to blame

For all my heart's mistakes
But oh, I'm staring at the mess I made

I'm staring at the mess I made

I'm staring at the mess I made

As you turn, you take your heart and walk away
And it's you, and it's you

And it's you, and it's you

And it's falling down, as you walk away

And it's on me now, as you go
But oh, I'm staring at the mess I made

I'm staring at the mess I made I'm staring at the mess I made

As you turn, you take your heart and walk away
And it's falling down, as you walk away

And it's on me now, as you go
But oh, I'm staring at the mess I made

I'm staring at the mess I made I'm staring at the mess I made

As you turn, you take your heart and walk away

I hope all of you enjoyed this chapter the song that Hiro wrote actually belongs to the band Parachute so I don't own it. Please review it makes me happy and when I'm happy I write more because I'm inspired by all of our kind words.
