Beauty of Snow

I lay there...

touching the soft white flakes falling in swirling patterns to the ground...

My skin is cold...

I breathe and watch the cool mist rise from my lips...

The trees sway in a winter wind, branches whispering, spirits sighing...

My hair falls to my shoulders, white and dripping with frozen tears...

I sing a song...

The sound it makes flows through the frigid air and fades away...

I stare up at the sky...

Complete silence enfolds my melody of sweet sorrow...

No one comes...

The flakes come down, dusting my face with crystal powder...

It is cold...

Yet I make no move to warm myself...

I lay without moving...

For fear of never moving again...

My heart is numb...

My song goes on...

White wings shudder, shiver, shake...

I sing...

I cough...

Blood comes from my lips...

I lay there...

No one comes...

My blue crystal eyes flutter...

My song fades...

Soon I will be covered in snow...

I do not move...

For fear of never moving again...

No one comes...

My eyes stop moving...

Breath stops coming...

Ice swirls up my arms...

Snow falls...

One last smile...

Then nothing...

My eyes are open...

But they see no more...

Snow falls...

No one comes...

Fallen...

Angel...

Rests...

Forever...
