Chapter 131A: Versus ROTS V – Three Way Fight (Perspective: None)
The area was as silent as a tomb, the only sound was the beating of the wings of Stella's four headed dragon. Gallows, Stella, and Kiri Sasu were in a triangle formation, each one observing the other two like hawks. Suddenly, an apple fell down from a nearby tree, the sound of it hitting the ground acting as the gong.
Two of the four heads, the red and the green, of Stella's Quadra Dragon released a fire stream and twister from their mouths. The fire flew at Kiri, whilst the twister at Gallows.
Gallows jumped out of the way of the twister, but Kiri created a rift in space in front of himself, with another rift appearing behind Gallows, and the fire flowed through the portal, the attack being redirected at Gallows.
To block the attack, Gallows body turned into flames, which covered and extinguished the fire.
At the same time Kiri created more dimensional rifts, one in front of himself, and lots over Stella's head. Kiri threw a single dagger through the rift in front of him and daggers flew through each dimension rift above Stella, creating a rain of daggers. Stella held her umbrella up, which expanded in size to cover both her and the Quadra Dragon, the fabric turned to metal.
Ching Ching Ching! – The knife rain was blocked.
But Kiri couldn't divert his attention, as whilst he had launched an attack at Stella, Gallows had jumped through the very rift Kiri had created to redirect the Quadra Dragon's attack and appeared on the other side. Gallows right arm reshaped into a metal blade, Kiri ducked below Gallow's horizontal slash and jumped backwards into another rift. Gallows jumped after him into the rift, but he lost sight of Kiri and was transported into the air.
He created two dimensional rifts one right behind the other and closed the one he jumped through and tricked me into this trap. Gallows analysed as several small dimensional rifts opened and numerous knives flew through the holes, attacking Gallows from all directions. "But this isn't good enough to beat a monster like me…" Gallows remarked as his body turned into smoke and the knives cut nothing but air.
At the same time – Ching! Ching! Ching! – Stella was blocking Kiri's knife slashes with a fencing sword. The Dimensional rift Gallows had entered had sent him blindly into the sky, but the one Kiri had entered had took him on top of the Quadra Dragon.
The blue head on the Quadra Dragon turned 180 degrees and released a water torrent at Kiri, whom created another dimension rift and redirected the attack back at Stella.
"Take form Dimensional Tarantula!" Stella commanded and a large ugly spider manifested out of thin air.
Kiri suddenly found that his physical position had been switched with Stella's, meaning the water torrent was on course with him again. "Annoying!" Several small rifts surrounded the water torrent and Kiri slashed his blade across a dimensional rift in front of himself. The one single slash was copied and pasted through each of the dimensional rifts surrounding the torrent, and with the large quantity of attacks, dispersed the water.
Suddenly Gallows appeared, flying through the air and the blades that were growing out of his forearms expanded towards both Kiri and Stella.
Kiri quickly jumped off the Quadra Dragon and into another Dimensional Rift to escape.
"Take form, Ritual Puppeteer!" Stella shouted, and soon her body had switched places with a robed being and a large human sized puppet. Immediately after manifesting the monster, the Dimensional Tarantula had switched their places. The Ritual Puppeteer flung their puppet into the oncoming blade, and the puppet was pierced in the abdomen.
"GURGH!" Gallows coughed painfully as blood flowed out of his body the same place the puppet was struck. "I see, that puppet is like a voodoo doll…" Gallows body, including his blood, turned into water, before flowing back in and reforming his human shape, his wound healed.
"Just what is this guy?" Stella narrowed her eyes in annoyance.
"A monster, in human skin." Gallows answered seriously.
"URRGHHH!" Stella grunted as she felt the feedback from one of her monster's deaths. The Dimensional Tarantula had numerous knives piercing into its body, that was slowly turning into nothingness. Kiri had taken the chance to kill the most annoying creature whilst she was distracted with Gallows. "GURGHHH!" Again, the feedback from one of her monster's deaths.
"It seems only the puppet itself acted like the voodoo doll." Gallows remarked as he looked at the puppeteer that had been pierced by the blade protruding from his forearm. Most of his body then transformed into lightning and flowed down the metal blade at light speed, before reverting to human form when he reached his destination, the back of the Quadra Dragon.
Kiri quickly joined the successor to his name and the three nemeses glared at each other. "What the hell are you?" Stella remarked.
"I assume you're enquiring about my power?" Gallows asked. "From my early days as a child I have suffered from Pica Disorder. But have you ever heard the phrase 'You are what you eat' No truer words have been spoken when referring to me. Anything I have consumed, I can become."
"Metals…" Gallows arm turned into a metallic blade.
"Water…" The metal arm turned to water.
"Stone…" This time to rock.
"Even people…" Gallows body took on the shape of a young woman, before reverting back again.
"Because of my disorder, there is very little in this world that I have not eaten. Every new thing I consume opens up all new possibilities. A power that grows the more I eat, a fitting power for a monster, no?" Gallows smiled wryly. "And even though I have lost my sense of taste, I never lost my eating desire."
"I truly feel for you, the taste of flesh is one of the many joys of devouring humans." Kiri remarked, "I would rather die than lose it."
"I for one, don't take pride in my cannibalistic urges. That's why I wish to leave this world that is filled with 'food' and enter a haven with only 'friends'." A glint passed across Gallow's eyes. "You two shall be my final food." Suddenly a purple mist flowed out from Gallow's ankles and formed numerous spikes that pierced into the Quadra Dragon.
"KIRRGHGHHH!" The four headed creature yelped in pain as it thrashed uncontrollably. The trio each jumped off the dragon's back. Stella opened her parasol like a parachute and slowed her descent, whilst Kiri had jumped into a rift and Gallows had turned his legs into fire and was hovering.
Stella turned towards her dragon that had crashed landed on the ground. "Recall, Quadra Dragon!" She shouted, noticing that the monster was close to defeat. By doing so she spared herself the feedback from the dragon's death and it disappeared into a pillar of light.
Suddenly numerous dimensional rifts surrounded Stella, each one shot out a pressurised water blade. He connected the other end of the rifts to the bottom of the sea!? She analysed as she closed her parasol and allowed herself to descend quicker, avoiding the attacks.
Gallows shot towards Stella by increasing the heat intensity at his legs and the embers acting like a jetpack. His left arm transformed into a black blade, which he held in his right hand, Stella quickly transformed her parasol into a sword and guarded the horizontal slash, or rather, she should have.
"GURGHHH!" Stella yelped as Gallow's blade cut through her sword like it was made of paper and slashed her abdomen. "The Muramasa-Masamune!?" Stella gritted her teeth.
"It's not the real one. I told you, I can become anything I've consumed, although it was only a fragment, I did consume a piece of the blade when I encountered Cavalier." Gallows winced, as if recalling a terrible memory, before turning to Stella with a solemn look. "I'm sorry, there is no chance you can be classed as a 'friend' I can only see you as 'food'."
"Eh?" Stella remarked in confusion before Gallows entire body transformed into a dark slime that engulfed Stella's entire body. The slime received a few resisting thuds, but they soon vanished. There was one simple explanation, Gallows had consumed Stella.
His body then reformed and he turned his eyes to his second prey, that was gritting his teeth in frustration. "I wanted to be the one to eat her!"
"You are an even worse monster than myself, you do not have the luxury of choice." Gallows eyes were filled with contempt.
"Fine, you maybe the spider that caught the fly, but I'll be the one who eats the spider." Suddenly a small rift appeared in front of Kiri, and a large rift formed above Gallows. Kiri punched his arm into the rift, and a giant arm appeared out of the rift above Gallows.
Gallows quickly jets out of the way of the god sized hand trying to crush him within it's grasp. "I see, by altering the size of the rifts of the entry and exit points you can increase the size in the same proportions. Gallows arm reformed and was coated in a black liquid, he punched his dark liquid coated fist into Kiri's hand.
"GURGHHH!" Kiri grunted as he withdrew his hand back through the rift and blue steam flowed out through the area he was hit. Kiri gazed at his hand and the phenomenon. "The soul corroding rain?"
"I advise you don't try touching me directly, I can become any number of harmful substances." Gallows declared as he jetted towards Kiri, whom jumped into a rift before he could be touched by Gallows corroding rain covered hands. Numerous rifts formed in every direction around Gallows and shot out pressurised water, Gallows countered by turning his own body into water, and when it was cut apart it just rejoined together.
"It seems normal attacks really don't cut it." Gallows turned to the sound of Kiri's voice. "As someone who takes pride in being a ripper, this is sacrilegious, but it cannot be helped." A single rift opened at Kiri's side and he stuck his arm in, and quickly withdrew it, holding a pistol with a black casing and the image of an angel with black wings embroid into it.
"That's no regular gun, is it?" Gallows eyed the weapon; his instincts were telling him to be cautious of it.
"After I faked my death last time, I needed a shelter to lie low, that's why I enlisted myself into a PMC called Zennith Carnage. I was able to swipe one of their Fallen Angel series guns, this Lucifer, before I left. By monopolising this technology Zennith Carnage are sure to become a dangerous entity, so I was sure there would be plenty of people or organisations that would pay a pretty penny for this."
Kiri opened three rifts, one directly above, and one each either side of him, he threw the Lucifer through the top rift, and he caught the pair of Lucifers that exited through the other two rifts. He pointed one of the Lucifers towards Gallows and…
Bang! – Gallows quickly calculated the trajectory and twisted his neck before the bullet could pierce his head. He charged towards Kiri, whilst transforming his left arm into a Muramasa-Masamune replica
Bang!
Ching!
He moved his blade in the way of the bullet and deflected it, whilst still charging forward.
Bang!
"GURGHHH!" Gallows yelped in pain as a bullet had pierced through his side. Steam flowed out from Gallows' wound. Kiri had shot the bullet through a rift to throw off Gallows' trajectory calculations.
The bullets have the same kind of properties as a Soul Slayer. To think there was an organisation that could develop weapons like this? Gallows got back to his feet and had his body cover the holes the bullet had made.
"Die!" Numerous rifts surrounded Gallows from every direction.
"This could be bad." Gallows remarked.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The numerous soul-destroying bullets were multiplied as they were copied and pasted through one rift and out of many. To counter, Gallows turned his body into air, and calculated the trajectory of every bullet, moving the numerous air particles that formed his body out of the way of the deadly storm. Even though Gallows couldn't understand why, he knew that the bullets could still damage his soul even if he made his body intangible.
"Tch! Your more slippery than an eel!" Kiri grunted in annoyance before. "GURRRGHGHHH!" Suddenly yelping in pain as his left arm fell from his shoulder and onto the ground, his left hand still gripped the Lucifer. He moved through my dimension rift again!
Kiri ducked below the horizontal slash aimed at his neck and gripped his left arm with his teeth and jumped backwards. Gallows gave chase with the Muramasa-Masamune replica gripped in his right hand.
Bang! Bang!
Ching! Ching!
Kiri shot two more shots, which were deflected, but they bought him enough time by halting Gallows' charge. Two rifts formed, Kiri threw his left arm into one and jumped through the other himself.
Gallows, whom had lost sight of Kiri, instinctively turned his body into air, a moment before…
Bang! Bang! Bang! – The sound of bullets being discharged came from above. Kiri's left arm had also somehow fixed itself back to his body.
Gallows reformed his body, but converted his feet to fire and jetted towards Kiri, whom shot more bullets through dimensional rifts. Gallows sharpened his senses to locate every rift and predict the countless bullet trajectorys, moving his body out of the way of every attack.
"So, quantity doesn't work so well. Then I'll just go for quality." Kiri smiled darkly as one very small rift, and one colossal rift form in front of him. Gallows eyes shot open, realising his enemy's strategy.
Bang! – A single bullet flew through the small rift, and exited through the large rift, and just like previously, the size was amplified by the scale factor of the rift's size. But the change in size did not affect the speed, and the titan sized bullet flew straight at Gallows, whom instinctively converted his body to diamond.
The projectile was less of a bullet and more like a large cannonball, but if Gallows changed his body to air, the soul-destroying effect would have a free pass towards his soul. Therefore, he was forced to block the attack with his body and stop it from reaching his soul. The meteor like bullet sped to the ground with Gallows body receiving the full impact.
"GURGHHH!" Blood shot out of Gallows mouth as he was welded into a crater in the ground. The colossal bullet soon shrank down to its regular size. Gallows body and limbs were bent at an awkward angle. He quickly converted his body into a liquid and began reshaping his body back to normal. But then a voice rang out…
"Take form Gulon Worm!"
"Eh?" Gallows turned just his head to the sight of a girl he believed he had recently eaten. Suddenly a large golden worm burst out of the ground and swallowed Gallows in one gulp. As he was in the middle of fixing his body and had his attention solely on Kiri Sasu, coupled with the fact someone who should be dead was still very much alive created a fatal opening.
Chapter 131B: Versus ROTS V – A Monster's End (Perspective: None)
Within the darkness Gallows slashed towards the flesh of the monster, of whose stomach he was inside. But his blade did not reach the monster's flesh.
"It's useless." Stella's voice echoed. "The Gulon Worm's stomach is literally another dimension; you have no way of escaping."
"How did you survive?" Gallows asked as he sat down in place, he knew there was nothing he could do to escape, and resigned himself to his fate.
"I have the power to pull things out of my imagination and into reality, do you think it would be so difficult to create a clone of myself."
"I see, so from the very beginning we weren't fighting the real you but one of your creations. My inability to taste came back to bite me, I would have noticed if not for that."
Yes, Gallows not having a sense of taste was what had allowed Stella to fake her death. Stella's monster creations were created entirely from her imagination, but this also meant they were limited to the power of her imagination. Stella, whom like most people, did not know the taste of human flesh, thus she would not have been able to replicate that taste in her creation. It was only because multiple coincidences aligned that she was able to trick Gallows and Kiri Sasu.
"My real body cannot move when I create my clone and all the feedback with interest from the monsters my clone creates also come back to the real me, but it has its uses."
"So, this is the end of this monster, to be food for another monster, how ironic." Gallows remarks as he lies on his back within the monster's stomach, the numerous acids dripping onto his flesh, corroding his skin, releasing fresh blood. He made no attempt to resist his end, and in a strange kind of way, he even felt content. But there was still a single regret, and a tear flowed down Gallows eye, which mixed with his blood.
"Illumi, Knell, Deacon, Amalie, Shinla, Petrov. I'm sorry. Thank you for accepting this monster, thank you for giving me hope. Please find the happiness you all deserve."
Gallows closed his eyes and embraced the end. He would never open them again.
Chapter 131C: Versus ROTS V – Final Confrontation (Perspective: None)
"You still lived?" Kiri smiled at the revelation, "Colour me surprised."
"I'm actually insulted that you thought I could die so easily. Now that the third wheel is out of the way, I can focus all my attention on you." Stella retorted.
The Gulon Worm suddenly broke through the ground and jumped straight towards Kiri, whom created another small and big rift set. He threw a single dagger through the small rift and a towering blade exited the large rift, the large blade pierced straight into the Gulon Worm's mouth and out the other end.
"GURGHH!" Stella grunted at the feedback. The stronger the monster she created, the stronger the feedback when it was defeated.
Kiri shot numerous bullets into the rifts and the meteor like bullets rained down from the sky. Stella, not caring for the dirt, dove into the hole the Gulon Worm had dug, the colossal bullet rain created numerous craters as they pierced into the ground.
Kiri landed softly on the ground as he squinted his eyes through the dust after his last attack. It soon cleared, and Stella was standing there unharmed. This only brought a smile to Kiri's face as he stared at his former boss. Kiri pocketed the Lucifers and drew a couple of blades in their place. He had to use the Lucifers to counter Gallows strange abilities, but now his opponent was Stella, he wanted to cut her up with his own hands. Kiri opened a rift in front of himself and a large rift above Stella and stabbed his knife into the smaller rift, the change in size altered the knife to the size of a skyscraper and stabbed down at Stella from the sky.
"Okay, enough playing around, lets end this." Stella declared as she jumped backwards. With the various feedback from her monsters being defeated, she was nearing her limit. "Alter Form: Demonic Stella!" Suddenly Stella's body sprouted a pair of dark wings, her finger nails extended in length and sharpened, multiple blue hieroglyphs spread across her body, her eyes became blood red, and her hair turned ash grey.
"I'm liking the new look." Kiri smiled uncharacteristically fondly, "Your hair reminds me of Dr Schild."
"This is an ability to transform my own body with my imagination, I took reference from the evillest people imaginable when it comes to the appearance, and there is no greater evil than a Losschild!" Stella remarked before suddenly disappearing from Kiri's sight.
Kiri ducked below the slashing of her claws by pure instinct, he threw one of his knives at Stella, whom took no evasive action. But the knife deflected when it was about twelve inches from her face, as if it had hit and invisible wall.
Kiri rolled backwards a moment before the second claw came at him. Stella opened her mouth wide and a dark orb formed in front of her, then a wide beam shot out of the orb at Kiri, whom quickly opened a dimension rift to redirect the attack at Stella, whom ceased her attack and jumped into the air.
"You really are something, but how about this!" Kiri formed two rifts and drew the Lucifer, he shot a bullet through one rift and a fireball through the other. Out of the third large rift in the sky came a single gigantic flaming bullet.
"I see. By using multiple entry points with a single exit point, it combines the objects together. So that's how you healed your severed arm." Stella remarked as she gathered intense aura into two spheres which she pointed towards the sky. She released the intense energy, smashing the massive flaming meteorite bullet.
"YOUR WIDE OPEN!" Kiri shouted as he appeared through one of his dimensional rifts, a sadistic look plastered on his face, a blade in each hand. "THAT BARRIER OF YOURS CAN BE BYPASSED WITH A SINGLE DIMENSIONAL RIFT, IT'S OVER STELLA!" Two rifts opened, one about 15 inches from Stella, the other about an inch from her back. Kiri's blade was centimetres from the rift that would get past Stella's forcefield.
"Guess again." Stella didn't turn to face her opponent, nor did she take an evasive action. She didn't need to.
"GURRGGHHH!" Suddenly Kiri felt a strong constriction on his neck and he was pulled away. With a last act of defiance, he threw his knife at the rift, but the sudden jolted movement threw off his aim and he missed. Kiri could feel something slimy tightening its hold on his neck. It was a power Kiri was familiar with from his time in Enigma.
"Cammy….Leon…" He grunted as the familiar form of Cammy appeared. Those two were always glued at the hips, I should have figured she was here. Kiri lamented his carelessness.
"Not quite," The demonic form of Stella flew towards Kiri. "There is no way I would endanger my dear Cammy, not after last time." Kiri looked at the girl whose tongue was still suffocating him.
"Another one of your creations." Kiri surmised.
"Correct, I know every inch of Cammy's body, her power, her habits and her personality. So, I can recreate quite the realistic replica. Well, she's still inferior to the original article, but with how wonderful Cammy is, that's only to be expected." Stella continued fangirling over her lover whilst Kiri continued to struggle under the threat of suffocation.
"Kiri Sasu, I'm only going to ask you this one time." Stella looked at her captive with intensity as her voice sounded like a curse. "Where is Carmen Losschild?"
"You're wasting your time, don't bother testing my loyalty to her." Kiri created another pair of small and large rifts and slashed the Cammy Clone's tongue.
"HOW DARE YOU!" Stella shouted as Kiri freed himself. Stella charged at Kiri, whom threw his knife, but not at Stella, no, he aimed for the Cammy clone. Although she was only a copy from her imagination, the copy was of the girl she treasured more than anyone. The last outburst had told Kiri everything he needed to know; Stella treated the copy like it was the real Cammy. Therefore, as he predicted, Stella moved her body into the knife's path, this knife was deflected by the invisible force. But this bought Kiri enough time to escape into another dimensional rift.
"I cannot defeat you outright. And I cannot let someone as dangerous as you chase after my beloved Dr Schild." Kiri's voice declared as Stella turned her gaze to the scum that had tried to harm her dearest. "Therefore, let us all die together." Kiri smiled as a large rift opened in the sky, and it started sucking them in like a powerful vacuum.
"That rift, he's connected it tens of thousands of metres into the sky." Stella analysed the source of the vacuum. Air moves from areas of high to low pressure, since the air pressure is much lower at higher altitudes, the air from the ground level was flowing into it.
"HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!" Kiri laughed into madness as the large rift pulled him towards it. "When the entrance point is smaller than the exit point, the object expands in size. So, tell me, what do you think will happen to a human body when it goes through the vice versa of that?"
It would forcefully compress the body into jelly! Stella hypothesised.
Kiri smiled as he was pulled into the rift of death. Stella dug her claws into the ground, trying to resist the deadly force. "This is your punishment for setting your sights on Dr Schild!" With those final words, Kiri was completely absorbed by the rift a manic smile never leaving his face for even a moment.
"GURRGHHH!" Stella grunted as the rift continued to pull her towards it. Kiri should already be dead on the other side. Stella thought to herself. I just have to endure until the power fades.
Slowly but surely, the spacial rift was shrinking, but not fast enough. "No!" Stella screamed as her body was lifted from the ground. She flapped her wings to battle the pull, trying to get even one more millimetre from the deadly rift, but there was no denying she was losing the fight.
Suddenly, an additional force wrapped around her waist and started pulling her, it was the copy Cammy's tongue. She continued to pull Stella away from certain death, but soon the copy was lifted from the ground too. But the Cammy copy used the force of the pull to pivot her body with Stella's and pushed her back down onto the solid ground.
She then released her tongue from Stella's body, a moment before the rift, that was now much smaller, absorbed her. Stella could see the smile on the Cammy copy as she flew into the abyss. And a strong feedback flowed into Stella, confirming the Cammy copy's demise. A few moments later the rift closed.
"Even though she was a product of my imagination and not the real deal…" Stella smiled as a tear flowed down her eyes, "You saved me once again Cammy. In more ways than one, you always, always, save me."
Chapter 131D: Versus ROTS V – Zennith Carnage's Shadow (Perspective: None)
Unknown to Stella, a certain individual was walking with heavy footsteps through the dense sea of trees. His body and mind were exhausted from the intense battle, and he couldn't even walk in a straight line.
"You're not the only one who can make copies of themselves, Stella." Kiri Sasu smirked to himself.
Yes, by jumping through an entrance point with two exit points, Kiri was able to create a clone. Although he never explained the full details of his power, there was actually a primary and secondary exit points for every entry point. When an object or person goes through a rift, the originals will always exit through the primary exit points, and any objects or people will be cloned from the secondary exit points. It was by using this particular trick that he could multiply objects, such as the Lucifer, and even clone himself to perform a suicide attack. Although the copies didn't last any longer than about ten minutes, this was more than enough time to fake his death a second time.
"And if all goes as planned, Stella should also be no more. It's a shame I won't be able to taste her flesh. But he who lives today, gets to eat another day." Kiri cracked his neck. "Now what should I do? Maybe I should return to Dr Schild's side, all the recent talk is making me feel a strong yearning." Kiri placed his hand over his heart, an honest smile, unfit for the insane serial killer, surfaced. But then, suddenly….
A line of blood shot out of Kiri's head, a swift object had flown and pierced it before he was even aware.
A few minutes later, a man dressed in camouflage clothes and a dark green bandana trudged towards and looked down at the fallen Kiri Sasu.
"Do..doo…dooo…ccc…dddooo…dddooc…sch….do…" Meaningless mumbles flowed out through Kiri's lips.
"Did he somehow deflect the bullet before it could pierce all the way through his brain? If nothing else, I admire your tenacity." The man declared, as he adjusted the sniper rifle he had hoisted over his shoulder. "It's my policy to end it in a single shot, my pride as a sniper and title as the Precision Incarnated would be tarnished to kill you in any other way. But maybe letting you live as a vegetable would be the perfect punishment, a lesson that nobody double crosses us." The man searched Kiri's body and withdrew the Lucifer from his clothes.
"Call, Sorro." The man declared as he stood up straight. A small metallic ball hovered out of his backpack and aligned with the man's face; the ball scanned the man's retina before opening a screen in the air. On the screen was a girl in her mid to late teens with cyan blue hair and cyan green eyes, covered by a thick pair of glasses. Her outfit was in disorder and oversized, other than the pure white lab coat, she was seated in an arm chair with her left leg draped over one of the arms.
"It's me…" The man began.
"Who is 'me'?" The girl questioned inquisitively, even though she too could see the man's face on the other end of the line. "Be specific. What's your name, affiliation, date of birth, date of death, and favourite colour?"
"Kanzen Shotto, Zennith Carnage's Precision Incarnated, 13 December 1921, 6 June 1944, and green." The man answered with a sigh. This was not their organisations standard protocol, this was just his colleague's quirk, that he had to indulge every time.
"Yup, the information matches."
"Is all that necessary every time? You, the Wisdom Incarnated, developed our communication systems, there's no way they could be compromised." The man named Kanzen asked.
The girl placed a lollipop in her mouth before answering. "Point taken, but just because I developed it, doesn't mean it's flawless. Case in point, I also developed the security measures for our armoury, yet that traitor managed to pilfer a Lucifer."
"You couldn't have known he was capable of moving through space and dimensions like that, so don't worry about it." Kanzen responded.
"Exactly. You only know the flaws with a system when a problem occurs. There were holes in our security, so what is to say there isn't similar problems with the communication system." The girl looked directly into the camera, her eyes behind the lenses deadly serious. "You should never believe anything is absolute."
"Did you manage to come up with a countermeasure for the security?" Kanzen asked.
"Now that is the question." The girl folded her arms behind her head. "Creating a barrier that prevents such things would be straight forward enough, but doing so creates a whole new set of problems. Namely, barriers of that kind can be detected, the Underworld would catch our scent. We could add more sentries, but that increases the chance of an inside job. Weighing the risk and cost effectiveness, I'm of the opinion we should leave the security as is."
"I see. Well, you are more suited for making those kinds of decisions than me. Getting back on topic, I have managed to retrieve the stolen Lucifer. But several shots have been fired, it will be impossible to retrieve all the bullets." Kanzen held the gun up to the camera and showed the clip.
"That's not an issue, I rigged the Soul Bullets with an acid that will melt every trace five minutes after it is discharged."
"You truly do think of everything, Wisdom Incarnated." Kanzen complimented.
"Not everything, just the obvious. We can't go round recovering every shot we fired on the battlefield afterall." The girl replied with a shrug of her shoulders. But the ever so slight raising on her lips did not escape Kanzen's notice.
"We've also now been able to confirm that your BDD (Barrier Disruption Device) is effective on the Underworld Barriers." Kanzen continued.
The girl smiled confidently. "I bet FELIA would have killed to have got their hands on that technology. Now that we've confirmed the BDD's effectiveness, Zennith Carnage will be able to expand its influence into the living world. This will open up even more business opportunities and greater revenue."
"I understand that. But Sorro, the BDD aside, was it really such a big problem that a single Lucifer was stolen. Even if they analyse the technology, you were only able to complete it with the help of the Domination Incarnated, who is a Kin Of Solomon. Without that unique ability, isn't it impossible to replicate any of the Fallen Angel Series?"
"That's naïve." Sorro responded, "Just knowing the theory of the weapon itself allows others to make imitations. Yes, they may not be exact, but most substances have something that can be used as a substitute. Even if it's not the most optimal, giving enemies ideas or inspiration is never a good thing."
"Your something else." Kanzen smiled as he looked on in awe at the genius on the other end of the screen. Kanzen had one talent, and that was sniping. But Sorro's intellect and innovating inventions was powerful enough to move the world.
"Even if you compliment me, you won't get anything other than a lollipop from it." Sorro held numerous lollipops between her fingers, "I'll save you one, strawberry, orange, lemon, or banana, pick one."
Sorro caught her comrade looking down, and quickly realised the cause.
"No matter how much technology improves, true talent is always the most optimal solution, Kanzen." She remarked. "Maybe we could give a greenhorn a sniper rifle with some of my Smart Bullets, and their accuracy would be up to par with you. But those things cost an arm and a leg to make, and we'd quickly fall into the red. So, rest assured, there will always be a place for you and your talent. You are the Precision Incarnated, and there is no one more worthy of the title." Sorro scratched the back of her head awkwardly, giving peptalks was definitely not her speciality, several shades of red had made their way to her cheeks.
A self-ridiculing smile made its way onto Kanzen's face, as a professional soldier, to show such weakness was unlike him. "I'll have a lemon when I get back." He said, trying to change the tone of the conversation. Sorro nodded her head with a smile on her face. "I'm planning to scope out the future competition for when we expand into the living world, call me if you need me, Sorro." Kanzen stated.
"Sure thing, I know you don't need to hear it, but stay safe." And with that the video call ended.
Cocytus Thanatos, to abandon a gem like her, you were truly foolish. If you weren't so short sighted and utilised her talents, your coup would have been successful. Well, your loss was Zennith Carnage's gain.
Chapter 131E: Versus ROTS V – The Sole Vote (Perspective: None)
"Unghh…" Phoebe grunted lightly as she slowly woke to the world around her. The first thing she noticed was the nasty smell of blood. "Wait! that's right!" She suddenly shot up, remembering what happened, and the sight imprinted into her mind of the Cardinals lying dead in the Conclave, the horrible smell was still ever present. "How could this have happened…" She whispered to herself.
"Are…you…awake…Phoebe…?" A voice called out weakly from within the Conclave.
"That voice, Cardinal Sulphur!" Phoebe quickly scanned the bloody scene for the man. A hand rose slowly into the air and Phoebe rushed to his side. "Please hang on, help is on the way."
"Don't mind me…I won't survive…Please, get me to the voting box…I have one last duty…" Cardinal Martez Sulphur was holding onto life by sheer force of will, he had been stabbed numerous times, and his eyes were fading in and out of darkness. Phoebe realised exactly his aim.
The Conclave was to decide the Church's new pope, and the way this was done for all current living Cardinals to cast their votes. But now, although barely, there was only a single living cardinal. This meant the decision of the next pope was left to this one man. Phoebe lent Cardinal Sulphur her shoulder and slowly and steadily walked him to the voting box. With laboured breathes and shaking hands, Cardinal Sulphur took the quill pen and wrote a certain name on the paper. He folded it twice, before depositing in the slot.
"Bosch…if you're awake…give me a sign…" Bosch lifted his left hand at Cardinal Sulphur's words. "You and Phoebe…are the witnesses…He…is the best one…to lead the church…into the future…many may disagree…but please believe in them….let the church's darkness…end today…tomorrow…is….another…day…."
I leave the rest to you…. With these final words and thoughts, Cardinal Martez Sulphur breathed his last and fell into a peaceful slumber with a content smile on his face.
Author Notes
Okay, this fight wasn't as impressive as I was hoping to make it, although not too bad either. I wonder if anyone can take a guess about who Cardinal Sulphur elected as the next pope? They are a currently existing character.
I'm glad I was able to introduce Zennith Carnage, or at least two of their Incarnated. Just to clarify that the organisations top brass all have these titles, so far I have Wisdom Incarnated, Precision Incarnated, Shadows Incarnated, Domination Incarnated, Charisma Incarnated, and Destruction Incarnated. These titles are subject to change.
Well despite the shortcomings, I hope it wasn't too bad. I will try to improve the fight the best I can at a later date.
