The Girl Who Waits

My name has changed

It used to be Jamie

But now I am that girl

Who always sits

On the old window-seat

I am now known as

The waiting girl

That always looks to see

If her father is back

Because it is from this window

Where I last saw him

Walking farther and farther

Until he is invisible from all the people

Surrounding him

Wearing only an ugly shade of green

So he will not be found

But he is easily found

Here on the street

So I am left at the window

Worrying because Mother

Has to take care of everyone

So I am waiting for you Daddy

I want to hug you

And kiss you

At least one more time

Come back Daddy

Don't you miss us?
