I remember the first time I met my new pack. It was on the last day of summer when my parents and I arrived in Tallahassee, Florida. For some odd reason my wolf had called me to this state at a young age. I was great friends with the strongest Alpha is Florida so he said he would take us to a pack in need of my guidance. Now you must be wondering how a fifteen-year-old GIRL can guide a pack. Well I'm glad you're inquisitive enough to find out. Now if this were a movie this would be the scene where they would cue the flashback but since this isn't I'll let you drift into my memory.
I was in the car with my parents and the Alpha of the strongest pack in Florida when I let down the window to have some fresh air. I breathed in the woodsy smell and the faintest smell of wolves. I almost smiled to myself as I watched the clouds go by and the sunrays hit my milk chocolate skin but the moment was gone when Alpha Matthew cleared his throat interrupting me. I swiftly looked at him and saw a smile on his face.
"I said how you like Tallahassee so far?" he asked. I shrugged thinking about how different it was from home.
"It's not as busy as Miami," I said and he laughed.
"That's right," he said proud of his city.
"But it's not like home either," I added feeling a little sad for leaving South Dakota for the sunshine state.
He nodded in response and it went silent again. I looked at my mom and dad in the backseat they smiled at me and I smiled back at them. It took five more minutes until we reached a pearly white mansion. I was slightly nervous since I knew this was going to be my new pack home and I wanted to make a good first impression. As soon as the car cut off, I hopped out stretching my legs and arms out. An arm ran across shoulder and I looked up to see Matthew staring at the mansion.
"Ready?" he asked and I nodded looking at my parents. My mom grabbed my hand and gave it a quick squeeze before releasing it and my dad gave me a nod. As we walked toward the house, I could hear someone coming towards the door. When it opened there stood a boy to be around my age.
"Alpha Matthew," he said extending his hand.
"Alpha Landon," Matthew said shaking it.
My eyes widen when he said that this boy in front of me was the Alpha. No wonder I was supposed to be here there was a boy running the pack. I relaxed a bit and let my gaze fall on him. He was slightly taller than me with smooth pale skin. He had dirty blond hair and sky blue eye with high cheekbones and a strong jaw line with a dimple in his chin. I looked at the rest of his body he wasn't as built as most Alpha's were but he did have a figure to look at. Lastly, my eyes travelled towards his lips they were full and pink. I let out a sigh and looked past him as a woman who looked very similar to him came into view.
"Hi my name is Elizabeth," she said extending her hand to Matthew. He shook it. "Well we shouldn't keep our guest waiting any longer. Come on in."
We followed Matthew in and as I brushed past Landon, I got this weird sensation through my body. At the time, I just thought it was his Alpha aura but I know better now. We followed Elizabeth to the backyard where the whole pack was waiting for us. Immediately, Matthew cleared his throat catching everyone's attention and started to speak.
"Hello, friends of the Raven pack. As you already know, I am Alpha Matthew and this here is one of my most beloved friends Rosa Knight and her parents, Kevin and Susan Jackson. As you, all may know the rumors of a she-wolf warrior roaming all fifty states," he paused then continued, "that is why I asked her and her family to come to your pack. With her knowledge and fighting skills she can help put this pack back together and make it stronger than it was before."
Everyone stared at me for a minute before returning their attention back to Matthew.
"So I want you to give your new pack members a warm welcome and make them feel like they're apart of the pack." With that speech out of the way, he wrapped an arm around me and maneuvered me around the backyard.
By the time all of the introductions were done a few of the pack members led us to our rooms and we said our goodnights' and went to bed. I quickly texted my best friend telling him I was okay, that I miss him and to have a goodnight with his mate. After a few minutes he texted me back that he missed me to and I that I should call him soon in which I replied okay. That ended our conversation. I missed my old room but I would just have to tolerate this room until I can get my mom to remodel this room for me. I immediately started to think about school tomorrow and how I felt like I wasn't ready but I would have to endure. Although I technically missed a year in school I was still smart enough to be in my own grade level. I smiled at thought of being smart and soon enough I drifted off into dreamland.
The first day of school was always a memory I wanted to bury in my brain somewhere and never in a million years unbury it. I was walking towards my locker when what I like to call slut of the pack bumped into me making me drop all my books and schedule.
"Oops sorry," she said in annoying perky voice.
"It's okay," I mumbled grabbing all of my things then quickly standing up.
She narrowed her eyes at me and I looked at her confused before she spoke, "You think your better than me but you're not. You're just a piece of burnt dark chocolate!"
At this, I was astonished to hear. "Not only am I better than you but I," paused sniffing her she smelled horrible, "even smell better than you." With that, I sidestepped her and continued towards my locker. I could feel her death glare burning holes in the back of my head but I just chuckled to myself and kept on walking.
It was not until Friday when I came home and ignored her death glare for one hundredth time that week that she finally snapped. She started to cry out of nowhere and I looked at her as if she was crazy. Her mother rushed into the room holding her and asking her what was wrong. She just looked at me then cried again I just rolled my eyes she was just too dramatic for her own good. Her mom looked over to me with a look of disgust, which I slightly cringed at. I got up to walk away when I overheard her mother say, "Don't worry sweetie she's just a black Negro."
Now that ticked me off it's not what she said. It was how she said it. "That's it I've had it," I mumbled to myself. I marched back into the room giving her mother a glare that would make male warriors go weak.
"Don't you dare speak those two words with so much hate and malice ever again. Yes, I am black and yes I am considered a Negro but that doesn't mean you have to be racist towards me," I said calmly.
"How dare you speak to me like that!" her mother snapped. I was about to retort when Elizabeth came into the room.
"What is going on here?" Elizabeth asked. I calmly retold what happened starting on the first day of school until now also adding in the rumor I heard about me calling the slut white trash. Elizabeth turned to the two of them and asked if it was true. In which they immediately denied it. "So what exactly happened?"
"Um…" was all her mother could say as she looked down at her child.
"You know when someone is being hesitant it means there trying to think of a lie," I said.
Both of them sent me death glares before realizing that Elizabeth was still watching. Their faces went from shock, to apologetic, to nervous and I couldn't help but be amused.
"So it's safe to say that you were lying to me earlier," Elizabeth said and they both nodded. "I see. Well I like for you two to apologize and take back any rumor you spread about Rosa."
"Sorry Rosa for being mean and I'll take back the rumors I started," the slut said.
"Sorry Rosa for being immature and sticking up for my daughter when I should have been trying to solve the problem" her mother said.
"It's okay you guys as long as it doesn't happen again," I said giving them a small smile.
"Well now that's settle I have some pack business to tend to," Elizabeth said before walking away.
As soon as she was out of earshot the slut spoke again, "this isn't over," she said in a dark voice.
"I never expected it to be," I said then walked away.
As I look back on my past now it was her fault most of the pack hated my family and me. However, I couldn't do anything about it so I just toughed it out like I'm so used to doing. Well I hope you enjoyed my little memory of the past. Because I doubt I'll share that memory again.
