I wear a mask
So we all look the same,
I am like them,
I am stained, dirty, and cold
Surrounded by facelessness.
Oblivious and hidden
I don't need to think,
Only breathe,
Yet in this cloud of smoke
Even breathing burns the throat, stains the heart.

They call my name but know not who they call,
In this smouldering haze
We all look the same,
I am cruel, dark and tainted
Surrounded by facelessness.
They search for me within the smoke
And their expectations of what they'll find are overruling.

Ignorant and hidden I stay
Where dreams are disappointing
And moments are few.

We all wear masks
Once the damage has been done.

Faceless, the words no longer come.
