The Ones who were Free to Fall

He walks on eggshells and she-such a fool
Sees him dancing to a wild tune of freedom
He tells her it's how we live our lives-us, the liberated, us the free willed
And she-how fascinated-starts humming the tune too

Till they're both exhausted and their feet are blistered
And they sigh in defeat because all they did-
And all that we ever do when we dance, is break bones
And sweat and muscles and-too much ache

All we want when we dance is an escape that ends when the song is over
