Brittle smile unoticed

I feel the cracks

Appearing without warning

A smile, forever strong

Unreadable even to those in the know

Why can't they see?

Why don't they ask?

Is all that I am

Simply this mask?

My stories bore

Even those who know me best

My jokes fall flat

And I long to just leave this mess

I feel there is something greater in store

I hope that my mark is not the last score

What am I missing?

What is it now?

That will bring forth the friendships

I see all around.
