What is this night?
The sun rises up through the dark, cold sky,
Two eyes open afraid of what might be.
Morning lets out a vibrant, icy cry
Days suck the joy out of life like a flea.
Night gives the freedom to imagination,
A safe harbor from the harsh light of day
Long race of the day, night an aid station
Against the dark the light is here to stay
Warming the toes of a newborn in light,
brightness shows life, against the protesters
over the sunrise, sages take delight
lonely nights are of the tired cheaters
youth scream with despair in the empty dark
light slices the night with the brightest spark
