Such is the World

Beauty and horror, safety and danger;

Such is the world, that we might linger;

Gentle, and violent, cruel and kind;

Such is the world, that we are bound;

Love and fear, sadness and happiness;

Such is the world, with all its prowess;

Weak and strong, wavering and firm;

Such is the world, that we can confirm;

Lies and truths, bravery and cowardice;

Such is the world, as its on her lattice;

Honour and dishonour, thankfulness and bitterness;

Such is the world, and all her forgetfulness;

Peace and war, prosperity and poverty;

Such is the world, in all her hypocrisy;

Revelry and mourning, drinking and sobriety;

Such is the world, in all her animosity.

Cruel be her ways, judgement be her scourge;

Succour to those whom she sees fit to encourage;

A cruel mistress and yet as loving as a mother;

Such is the world, known to all others;
