Introduction

This was an audio play I wrote for my first year at university (back in 2010). Unlike a normal play it's describing only the sounds that are heard. I've had to change the formal from what it was originally (speech numbers have been removed and the term (D) have been replaced with (phone) to avoid confusion) but mainly it's what I gave in to be marked. To be honest, I can't remember what mark I got. I think I got a B+ for this (the highest marked assignment for this course). 'Nuff of me chatting; here's the audio play.

SCENE 1: Side of the road, In the afternoon.

[KARL TALKING TO HIS GIRLFRIEND MARY ON HIS MOBILE PHONE]

SFX: Cars passing by. Mobile phone beeping. Beeping stops.

KARL: Sup, its Karl here.

MARY: (PHONE) Hey Karl. What`s up?

KARL: Mary, I need to tell you something.

MARY: (PHONE) What`s that? (LONG PAUSE) Are you going to tell me?

KARL: Look, things aint going well between us-

MARY: (PHONE) (CUTS KARL OFF. YELLING) Are you dumping me!

KARL: No, it's not that-

MARY: (PHONE) You`re an arse!

KARL: No...

SFX: Phone slammed. Starts to beep again.

KARL: (PLEASINGLY) Yes!
