Phase 1: Prelude of Darkness

Chapter 3: From Fire to Ashes

I had only known one person with that kind of fiery hair. The mere thought of the fact made me furious. Why had this happened? What were those people thinking? I had to stop them.

I grabbed the roof railing a quickly jumped over it. This move would seem crazy, but I was too blinded with rage and worry to care. I landed perfectly on my feet to the ground, which would be amazing to some seeing how this would be impossible since technically I just jumped from four floors, if you count the roof, but now wasn't the time to explain how I did it. No one had seemed to see me jump from that height anyways.

"Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing!" I yelled out as a charged the group of people with rage.

The group of people quickly noticed me and sensed the amount of anger I had in an instant. Some ran from the group while other had stayed, but the group had turned into chaos as I ran toward it. As some ran away I caught a glimpse of a girl with fiery red hair who was hurt badly ran out of the crowd.

"Hey! Don't let the witch get away!" One of them yelled out, but right after he said that my fist had met his face.

Very little seemed to stay for a fight and the rest fled after they realized I wasn't giving up. Where were the other students? No, where were the teachers? I can't be the only one who noticed this; I mean the school has windows, doesn't it? The crowd seemed loud enough to be heard from the classrooms inside and yet I was the one to stop it.

I had no time to worry about such things as I let my rage calm. That girl, it was no doubt it was Aria. I had to find her, but I had no idea where she may have gone. As she fled I was fighting the crowd of people, I didn't even happen to find out what direction she went in. Maybe she ran to home? She told me before she had lived alone, much like me so I would guess she would go there to be safe and alone.

I quickly walked into the school and headed down the hallways. I need to go to the faculty office, I'm sure they have Aria's address, much like they have everyone else's. I was determined to find her even if I had to interrogate them to get her address.

I made it to the faculty office and took grasp of the door, but as I was about to open it I heard a conversation inside.

"I see, so you are a relative of Aria Ragnarok, correct?" I heard a teacher say.

"Yes, I am her cousin. I will be ling with her for today on," I heard an unfamiliar voice say.

"Is that so? Would you mind giving us the house address? Aria seems to of neglected to give it to us," the teacher said.

"Ah, sorry about that. You see, Aria has this thing where she doesn't like to tell people where she lives," the unfamiliar person said, "I'd rather talk to her about it than give it to you right now."

"Hm, fine. As you know, you will be transferred here starting tomorrow, Kishki Kamigami," The teacher said.

"Right, I understand. Now if you'll excuse me," The voice that I assumed was Kishki's said.

His footsteps approached the door so I backed away from it. As he opened the door I tried to seem the least suspicious as possible and just like a person happening to pass by. He merely just glanced as me has he exited the door, closed it, then walked off.

"Hey you," I said deciding the non suspicious act wouldn't help.

I seemed to catch his attention. He turned his head and said to me, "What?"

"Tell me where Aria lives," I said straightforward and to the point.

This made Kishki turn around o face me and say, "Why do you want to know?"

"She's hurt. Tell me where she lives?" I replied staying persistent.

"Aria is hurt? What happened?" He asked me.

"Some people were beating her up and I stopped them while she escaped. Just tell me where she lives already!" I replied showing I had no time to wait at all. I was in a rush. I had to know where Aria was and fast.

"I see, you must care about her," He said with a sigh.

Kishki told me where Aria lived. I couldn't believe it! That idiot living in such a place. She's lucky no one has found her out for a month. In fact how the hell did no one notice? How the hell did I not notice?! She lived close to the school, yet her house was close to the school. What's more is she said her how was somewhat right behind the school and it was facing it.

I ran out of the school, only to go all the way around to the back of the school building. There she was at the back of the school. She sat on what seemed to be a cushion she'd brought to the back of the school and she was weeping like there was no tomorrow. She had cuts and bruises all over her from what had happened.

I walked over to her a kneeled down to her level. She seemed to have noticed me, but despite that she was still sobbing.

"Aria, what happened….I mean, why had this happened to you," I asked her.

"I-I'm not sure," Aria said through seeming to have a hard time speaking and crying at the same time.

"Not sure?" I repeated confused.

"W-well, you see, I….I just reach the school a-and then suddenly they came out of nowhere," Aria said breaking up what she said with her crying," T-they called me a…..a witch….. and several other things and started beating me up."

"Those bastards!" I let out angrily gripping my hand, but then Aria grabbed my hand.

"No please don't Dark. Don't fight anymore for me," Aria said slowly calming her crying.

"You're right, I won't fight," I told her with a sigh, "Let's take you to the infirmary in the school."

"No, I don't want to go in there," Aria replied somewhat scared.

"I see, I guess I have no choice," I said with a sigh.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a black bandage. Just the fact it wasn't white wasn't why it was unique though.

"Give me your hand," I told Aria.

Aria put out her hand which was bruised and cut to me. I wrapped the black bandage around her hand.

"What is this supposed to do?" Aria asked me still having her hand out.

"You'll see," I replied.

I unwrapped the bandage shortly after I put it on to reveal that the wounds on her hand were gone. Surprise showed on Aria's face.

"How did you?" She asked seeming as surprised as I expected..

"It's a secret, and now you have to keep this secret," I told her with a smile.

I put the bandage in her hand.

"Use this on your wounds. All you have to do is wrap this bandage around them for a second or two and it will heal. You should avoid coming to school tomorrow and maybe the day after that too. Also make sure you put actual bandages after you heal yourself. I would hate for people to call you a witch again after all," I explained to Aria.

"I understand. You seem to handle things really well, Dark," She told me with a small smile.

"it's more that, I just handle things better when I'm worried," I told her with a sigh, "Anyways, I better go tell Senpai you had to leave since we have her next class. Stay here and if anything happens call me."

Aria nodded in response and I sadly walking away. I entered the school building again hoping to find Senpai and I did, but she was talking to Kishki.

"I see, thanks for telling me that Aria would be out today," She said.

"It's the least I could do," Kishki replied with a smile.

Senpai then walked away waving goodbye to Kishki with a smile and Kishki stood there and waved back. After that Kishki noticed me and walked over to me.

"Ease dropping, huh?" Kishki said to me.

"Huh? Of course not," I replied then thought about it, "Well, sorta, thanks anyways."

"I figured she wouldn't come back to school today seeing how worried you were," Kishki said, "So how is she?"

"She's hurt pretty bad, but she'll be fine in no time, trust me," I said though 'Hurt Badly' and 'Fine in no time' didn't seem to mix well if someone didn't know the situation.

"I see, I hope for the best," Kishki said, "So, can you at least tell me your name. After all, you already know my name, seeing how you ease dropped earlier at the faculty room."

"Caught, huh? Well I made it kinda obvious anyways," I replied, "I'm Dark Tenshi."

"Oh, so you're Dark," Kishki said seeming interested now.

"Huh? Yeah, I am. Have you heard of me?" I asked.

"Well, Aria talks about you every now and then," Kishki told me

"Is that so? I guess since you guys are relative you talk a lot, right?" I replied.

"Ah, yes we're cousins. Anyways shouldn't you be watching her?" Kishki said seeming to avoid the subject like a poisonous snake.

"Ah, right," I let out remembering since Kishki told Senpai I just need to go back to Aria.

I left the school building hoping to think of a way to cheer up Aria. Maybe I should have brought Kishki since he knows her well. Sadly there was no point to it. When got to the back of the school building Aria was gone.

The next day had arrived before long. The first of many strange events that happened was me getting a letter that was in my desk. It said:

Meet me on the school roof during lunch. Don't get your hopes up, I just need to talk.

The second strange event was that Aria, Kira, Kitsune and Rika were all absent today. The third strange event was Kishki transferring into our class which had all its desks filled. Due to people missing Senpai just decided to leave it as a problem for later and place Kishki in Kira's chair.

The third and final abnormal thing about today was the girl standing in front of me. She had long light blue hair and dark blue eyes. Her stare seemed to be trying to pierce me and figure me out. This was the girl who told me to come to the roof during lunch, which was right now.

"Um," I let out

"You're Dark Tenshi, right?" The girl asked.

"Um, yes, yes I am," I replied.

"I see. Then I'll tell you now, stay away from Aria Ragnarok," She told me

"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked her surprised by this.

"Your safety cannot be guaranteed if you stay around her. Either leave her alone or you'll get involved in unavoidable danger," the girl told me still standing her ground.

"Wait, I don't understand at least explain," I told her as I was confused.

"There's nothing to explain. Stay away or be in danger," the girl said then she walked passed me and left the room.

What was the girl warning me about? Had I done something I shouldn't of? What does everyone have against Aria? I had to know the answers to these questions, but it seems no answer awaited me the whole day.

It was night time and I was in my room lying down on my bed awake. It was really late, but despite that I stayed awake not because of a sleeping problem, but I felt as if I need to for some reason. The suddenly my phone went off. This surprised me. Who would send me a message this late?

I went to check my phone to find a message from Aria saying:

Please come to the clearing in the forest near Unmei Park. Please hurry, I have something to tell you.

Aria was at the forest during this hour? Why? Instead of questioning it I just decided to get dressed and leave. I went to the Unmei Park which was near my house, and was also the only park in the town. Behind it was a forest. I quickly walked though the forest. After walking through the forest for no seeming long I came upon a part of it where there was a big circle where no trees were. Aria was in the middle of that area. I walked over to her.

"Oh, Dark you actually came," Aria said with relief.

"Yeah, I happened to be awake," I replied, "What is it you wanted to tell me."

"Well, I want to tell you. No, I wanted to show you why people at the school hate me," Aria said somewhat hesitant

"Show me?" I said confused.

"Yes, you may hate or fear me also," Aria said looking off to the side.

"I won't hate or fear you no matter what. Besides, I'll always be your friend no matter what happens," I said

"Don't say that like you know it for sure," Aria said.

The next thing that happened was unexpected, but at the same time amazing. Flames burst from Aria stood seeming to rise up from the earth and gather above her. They slowly took form into a fiery phoenix. The heat in the surrounding area rose and a couple of tree's caught on fire. All I could do was stand there dumbfounded

"W-wow," I let out.

"This is who I truly am. A monster made out of fire for destruction," Aria said sadly.

"You're not a monster," I told her.

"What? Of course I am! Look at me!" Aria stated.

"So? Just because you have some kind of power doesn't mean you're a monster," I said trying to convince her.

"I am a monster! I could kill you, you know!" Aria decared with anger.

A flame shot past me and hit a tree. The tree not only caught fire, but it also crashed down, almost crushing me, but missing me by not much.

"But you won't kill me. I know because you're not a monster! You are not the monster you or anyone else speaks of!" I said to her still standing my ground un shaken.

"You are truly a nice person, Dark. Too nice to realize the monster in front of you," Aria said sadly, "And I wanted to spare you too."

Aria pointed her hand in my direction and then a ball of flames shot out at me. I had hoped it had not come to this in the end. I was getting ready to do something I would truly regret when suddenly someone appeared in front on me wielding a blade that somehow sliced through the fireball and made it disappear.

"Are you an idiot!? Just standing there will get you kill," She said to me.

"What?" I let out in surprised.

"You!" Aria let out seeming to be mad and surprised.

"Aria, spare the act now that I'm here ok," The girl said with confidence flowing with her words.

"Who are you?" I asked her.

Then I realized something. She had long flowing hair that was the shade of blue of the bright summer sky. Her piercing eyes were a shade of blue that was dark as the deep sea. She was overflowing with confidence, that much could easily be told. What I knew the most though was that she was the same weirdo that warned me of Aria on the roof.

"Name's Luna," the girl said, "I'm here to take out Aria"

A/N: I made this after staying up all night, so not much in authors notes. You know, do the usual. Sorry if this chapter lacks quality due to me staying up all night.
