I was curled up in bed, my back resting against a pillow on the headrest.
I was getting lost in my book that I had read at least 4 times. I loved to read, unlike my twin sister.
Yep I said twin.
You see, ever since I was born 15 years ago, I had been stuck with a sister. Sure I love her, but it just annoyed me to have someone who was your age, got the same clothes, and had the same birthday.
But at least we weren't completely the same. She was those oh-my-god-that-boy-is-so-hot types of girls. She hated reading and was normally loud and girly. Me, on the other hand, I was more of a reading type. But don't let that get to you.
I was also very funny. My friends learned quick to never misjudge me. We became friends since 1st grade. Sure on the outside I was a quiet girl, who liked to read and get lost in her adventures. But I was also outgoing and funny and nice.
But that wasn't the only difference between my sister and I. We even looked different. I mean sure we had resemblance. We would've actually been identical twins if not for the hair difference.
I hated my hair.
My sister was lucky, with her dark black locks that matched our green eyes really well. Mine was a dark shade of red. It looked beautiful on my mother, but I hated it on myself.
We both had identical eyes and height and faces.
We were the twin beauties of my mother, as everyone called it.
Then there was also my little brother Charlie. He was adorable, and often times stuck to me more than my sister, since she didn't like playing Spiderman and ninja with him.
My sister and I even shared the same room. It was actually huge, but with two of everything. Two canopy beds, two white dressers, two matching desks, two walk in closets.
Except my half was way different, with its bright window, books, art supplies, more books, and journals of stories that I'd written, my sister's was neat and tidy and pink. I didn't care about having everything pretty and showing up just so I was impressing people.
And also I was athletic. Unlike my sister, I actually loved soccer and running. I hated dresses my sister loved them, I didn't care about guys my sister loved them.
The list just went on and on.
The day I met my new best friend, was at the worst place ever.
I was at a party.
Wearing a dress.
The good side was that my best friend Ari was here. She was a pretty girl, with brown hair and matching eyes. She was allowed to come since she was also the Adam's neighbor.
The Adams.
They were basically my mom and dad's best friends. We hadn't actually met their sons yet, so that was another reason why my sister and I were here. They had two sons, one a bit older than the other. I heard they were really good looking and all, but never seen them. Our parents decided that one day we would be best friends too and take out the tradition.
I was wearing a long green dress and Ari had on a purple one. My sister was who knows where and my parents chatting happily with the other parents. Charlie had run off, so I didn't have an excuse to be doing nothing.
"God Lily," Ari squirmed in her shoes next to me "I swear if we weren't wearing these stupid pointed insult to shoes, we could've played soccer or something."
I laughed, "I know right, I don't know how Lena can wear these for fun."
Ari shook her head in shame.
"Don't you get fat?" She asked after a while and I looked at her. We burst out laughing and people around us started staring.
"I don't know, I read online somewhere that—" I stopped and Ari followed my gaze.
"Oh man why are they calling us?" She whined. Sure enough my parents and Ari's were beckoning us forward. We awkwardly made our way there.
I smiled and so did Ari.
"Lily, have you and Ari seen the boys yet?" Mrs. Adams asked us.
We shook our heads.
"Seth! Roy!" She called to someone in the audience and two boys walked up. I studied them; one of them had dark hair that swept over his grey eyes. The other one was brunette with hazel eyes. Good looking I had to admit.
"Yeah mom?" The brunette said.
"Roy, take the girls up to your rooms and show them around." Mr. Adams said.
"Sure, come on." Roy smiled at us and we followed him towards the stairs.
We entered their room and they gestured for us to sit down.
Ari cleared her throat. Leave it to my best friend to show that she felt awkward.
"So, I'm Roy, and this is my brother Seth." Roy said.
"Well you know me already," Ari said.
"I'm Lily," I said, and Roy nodded.
"Your sister um" He cleared his throat "yeah I know her."
I raised an eyebrow at his red face. "Do you like her?"
Roy jerked his head up "What? No!"
I grinned and Seth smiled.
"Oh shut up Seth," Roy shoved his brother.
"Wait I have a question," Roy looked at me.
Ari gestured for him to go on.
"Why do you and your sister have similar names?" Seth asked and Roy smacked him.
"I was going to ask!" He said and Seth grinned, looking amused.
I laughed "We don't,"
They both raised an eyebrow "Lily and Lena is pretty similar to me."
Ari rolled her eyes "You idiots, those are nicknames."
I nodded "I'm Lilianna and my sister is Kathleen."
"Oh!" They said in unison, then glared at each other, then broke out laughing.
From then on, we met sometimes coincidently during school. Then hung out more often, and as the years went by we had lots of classes together. Some of us were close to one than others.
Of course I had my favorite person. We hung out together more alone then in a group. He was funny, yet quiet, sweet, yet strong.
Best of all, he loved to climb trees like me.
I'm not telling you who 'he' is from the Adams brothers. You'll find out soon enough.
"What are we doing in the middle of the forest?" I asked my best friend, who was dragging me out of our house, in the middle of my 18th birthday party. My dress was flowing behind me and I hoped it wouldn't get caught in a branch.
We were both laughing and acting drunk, though we had no alcohol.
He finally stopped once we reached a clearing. He laughed and stuck out a hand to me.
"May I have this dance, Birthday Girl?" He grinned and I laughed taking it.
"Sure, my Prince," I acted along.
He held my waist as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Hey Lily," He whispered into my ear.
"What?" I asked him.
"Happy birthday,"
I laughed "You said that seventeen times already today!"
He protested "I got to say it once more, don't I?"
I smiled "You're such an idiot."
He put his head on my shoulder "An idiot for you."
I rolled my eyes "I think you need sleep."
He laughed "Even if I try, I can't stop."
I grinned "Stop what?"
"Thinking about you."
I froze and he kept talking "The way you're unique red hair flies in the wind and how I can make your green eyes smile. The way you kick the soccer ball and scream as it hits the net. The only girl I know who makes me happy."
"Hey," I said, touching his cheek. He grabbed my hand and kept it there.
"There's no one else in the world that I'd rather have for a best friend. I love how you look when you run and how amazing you are with kids. You care so much for others. So much!" He gave a short laugh "So much, that you didn't even realize that your best friend liked you."
I staggered backwards. What was he saying?
He walked towards me and my back pressed against a tree.
"And he doesn't just like you Lilianna Hunter." He said and I jumped when he said my full name "He loves you."
The last part came out as a whisper. I gazed into his beautiful grey eyes and then he kissed me.
I was surprised at how it was.
It was gentle but also needed. Like he had been holding those emotions for years, and not just days. I loved him back of course, but never knew he had liked me.
I kissed him back, just as sweetly and I couldn't stop. He rested his forehead against mine.
"I don't know what I did to deserve you," Seth said "But I would gladly do it a hundred times again."
