Just Fine

That unbearable itch,
right beneath my skin;
but I don't scratch it.
Because I'm fine.

Just fine.

I try to ignore it,
but it's difficult...
Considering that it's right
in front of me.

She laughs, hanging off your arm.
You smile,
laughter and adoration
gleaming in your eyes.

It fades, replaced with guilt
when you catch my gaze.
And you silently ask:
Are you okay?

I nod, giving you a fake smile.
Because if I can't be happy,
at least you can.

And I don't mind at all.

Because I'm fine.
