I feel no shame when I say I'm a dreamer;

I actually feel good to consider myself one

Because the world we know would be a lot meaner

If there weren't any dreamers, not even one.

It took a dreamer for us to reach the sky

Like the birds flapping their wings overhead;

It took some dreamers who decided to try

Even though they could have ended up dead.

Maybe I could have ended up as a slave

With whips to my back and shackles to my feet,

But dreams of a free world without that deprave

Brings this nightmare closer to it's defeat.

So if your child has a strong imagination,

Don't try to flush and purge it out:

Dreamers are the ones who improve a nation,

And that I believe without a doubt.
