Perfection Cannot Speak Or See

They were games for just us two,
They were not meant for you to share.
But you told them all about
Our secret rules… our secrets.
They laughed and you laughed along
With them, without a care in the world.

I laughed with no one,
I sat alone with the rain.
It held me in his cool embrace,
Peppered me with feather-light touches
In the faintest white of the gloomy afternoon.
And I clung to him, like a life preserver,
For he was there, where you should have sat.
The rain kissed me, and I kissed him back

And so I gave my love away to one
Who cannot speak or see,
He need only hear my words
And then let his mind wander free.
I told the rain my secrets, and
The rain kept them safe for me.
