Lyra watched with morbid fascination as charlie slowly munched on the Seven cabbage. She kept picturing that the part he was biting on was Seven;s face, if he were still humanoid, and charlie was eating it off. It was making her extremely hungry, but she couldn't look away. It was a fucked up sort of karma, and she relished it.
A quick glance to the savory smelling Wings, and Lyra was wishing she had kept her eyes on charlie eating. The angel was reclined back, and poking her chest experimentally. Toot watched in between her card game she was playing with Ann and Tooth. The two humans were being sure to not look at the giant bunny eating the cabbage.
Ann however couldn't seem to decide if she would rather watch the bunny or her lover. The demon girl missed Seven in a way. While she was ready to take his penis, that was only maiming him. Now he was essentially dead, but then it was bound to happen at some point. She had gotten over it for the most part, and it helped a lot that Seven would at least live on through the powers that charlie would gain from consuming his body.
The crunch of charlie taking another bite of the Seven cabbage drew Lyra's attention once more, and she did her best to focus on that and not the angel. Lyra wasn't sure why, she felt it was likely due to the new "something wrong" with the universe, she had started wanting to eat the angel. She had first noticed it at the state fair, but when had it started? It didn't really matter. What mattered was that she would rather kill and eat a hundred humans than eat her friend. She resolved the next time they stopped she would eat a human, and not feel bad about it. A nameless victim was better than losing yet another friend.
Lyra glanced up to the front of the bus as the bunny chewed the cabbage slowly. It really seemed he didn't like eating the Seven cabbage, but she didn't know if it was because it was Seven, or because it was cabbage. Not matter there were other more important things to think on at the moment.
"Don, when will be stopping next, and where?"
Don glanced down, and turned a questioning look on Lyra through the rear view mirror. "We just fucking filled up, so we ain't gonna be fucking stopping for shit for a while."
Lyra chuckled nervously as she tried to think of a good reason to get Don to stop. The sooner the better.
"Lyra?" Ann asked concerned about her friend.
The werewolf turned to the girl, and sighed defeated. She might as well be honest with everyone. "I'm hungry."
"Fucking shit," Don muttered, "we'll stop at the next place and get you a nice juicy human to eat."
Lyra ducked her head as she nodded ashamed, but then was thrown into the group playing cards as the bus suddenly veered to the right.
"What the fuck?" Don yelled as the wheel jerked out of his hands. He clamped back onto it, and attempted to straighten them out. It was no use as she wheel jerked again, and sent them crashing through the guardrail. The bus plummeted off the high bridge, creaking and groaning as it went. The radio scanned through all the frequencies emitting a jumbled slew of static and voices through the speakers.
Everyone was braced for impact as they slammed into the waters below, and began to sink to the bottom of the lake. The bus was filling up with water fast, and they couldn't get any of the doors to open.
"We will have to hold our breath until we settle at the bottom and the pressure equalizes for us to get out!" Sica called out over the nearly panicking bunch. "Start pacing your breathing into longer deeper breaths!" She commanded, and everyone did as told even Charlie.
They were all breathing evenly and watching the water rising as the bus settled to the bottom of the lake, while Tooth added the giant bunny. The bus began to roll as soon as the tires hit the murky bottom, and Lyra was sure they were sinking lower. Her hopes of them surviving this was becoming pretty dim as she stood with the others to breath the last of the air that was collecting at the top front of the bus. They each took one last breath, and swam to the door. Together they pushed it open, and were amazed when the water spilled out into the lake that was receding. The bus had been moving up out of the water!
"What on Earth?" Lyra gasped as she breathed in the air, and stayed on her hands and knees on the ground where she had tumbled with the water as the door opened. It wasn't long before her arms and legs gave out and the flopped on the ground, face pressed into the muddy earth.
"How are we supposed to get to California for a space ship now?" Wings asked between gasps for breath.
The bus rolled to a stop, and Lyra saw water spurting out of the vents on the back of the bus deck lid while the interior continues to drip water from the open doors onto the muddy bank. The others had all spilled out of the bus as well, and were all laying in the dirt like her. Lyra's eyes didn't look over them though. They were fixed on the groaning bus. She could clearly hear the metal as it protested something, but she had no idea what. Either way the bus was ruined. There was no way it would run again after that, and everything inside would be completely water logged.
"Lyra," Don's voice was low and dangers as he growled out her name.
The werewolf lifted and turned her head so it lay in the mud looking away from the bus. She resisted the urge to wipe the mud on the now exposed cheek away. Don stood there clearly fuming and glaring at her as if she was the one that had drove them off the bridge. "What?" she croaked out. Apparently coughing up the water had damaged her vocal cords in some way.
"Why the fuck did you not fucking tell us about this fucking part of the fucking curse?" he demanded with hands fisted and white knuckled.
Lyra stared at him in confusion. "What?" she croaked again.
"The fucking piece of shit wheel fucking jerked out of my fucking hands. I couldn't fucking hold on to it." he seethed every word.
"The curse only affects the speakers to have a Norwegian accent. Nothing has ever tried to kill anybody before. Besides if it were part of the curse don't you think that it would have tried before now?" That much talking really hurt right now, but then so did her lungs.
Lyra was hoisted into the air as Don grabbed the scruff at the back of her neck like she was a kitten, and picked her up off the ground. He sneered into her face, but she just looked at him blandly.
"The fucking wheel fucking jerked out of my fucking hands." The demon was obviously upset, but Lyra knew that it wasn't her that should be receiving the anger.
"It wasn't the curse," she growled back. Was he deaf or just choosing to ignore the obvious that she had stated earlier.
Don dropped her with a huff when she didn't back down, and turned to look at the bus. it had changed appearances slightly, and Don looked at it confused, "What the fuck?"
Lyra got to her feet, and made a vain and half hearted attempt to wipe off some dirt. When she looked up to Don and saw his expression she turned to look at the bus as well. It was smaller, and there were wings jutting out the sides. The curves had changed, and now it looked more like a small version of the space shuttle than her bus.
"What on Earth?" she asked.
The others were up now too, and looking at the strange new vehicle. The doors which had been opened, closed and reopened again as if they were waving. Lyra, not realizing what she was doing, waved back until Don slapped her hand down. She grinned sheepishly.
"It's like it has a mind of it's own now." Lyra stated.
Wings had her head cocked to the side, and was looking at the bus spaceship with an intense look, "It's sentient now."
The only sound that followed that declaration was the squeaking of the bus spaceship doors still flapping. Wings turned from the bus spaceship to look at both Don and Lyra standing there staring at her as if she was mad in silence.
"No." Lyra said, and then shook her head as Wings nodded.
"But how?" Lyra asked in a whiny voice. What did all the weirdest shit have to happen to her? Her life was perfectly normal until Seven ate her face and killed her. So this was all his fault and he wasn't even around for her to take it out on anymore! What a rat bastard!
"I suspect that the driving off the bridge was it just awakening, as I have never sensed it before. Considering it pulled us out of the lake I think it was just bad timing not an actual attempt to kill us." Wings elaborated even as Lyra was still shaking her head defiantly.
The bus spaceship honked, with a sort of gurgling effect probably due to water in the horn, and Lyra was forced to sigh in defeat.
"So you fucking think that it's fucking safe to fucking get back in that fucking thing?" the pissed demon asked the angel.
Wing replied, "Yes," as she turned from the demon, and went over to the bus spaceship. "But it is soaking inside!" she tossed over her shoulder as she inspected the damage.
Don humphed, and walked over to her side, and pushed her back slightly. He didn't bother with the fact that his action made her fall on her butt, and squatted by the bus spaceship placing his hands flat on the dripping interior. Glowing red runes from an old forgot language began to spread out across the bus spaceship.
Lyra let startled squeak, and moved to tackle Don away from her bus spaceship before he burned the thing. However she was stopped short by Sica stepping into her path, and instead she barreled the female demon over. They landed on the ground, Sica splayed out and Lyra entangled with her.
The werewolf, wide eyed, started a slew of apologies, and struggled to get up and free before she was killed... again. They were silenced when Sica grabbed the werewolf by the waist and back of the head, and sealed their mouths together. She released the woman, and stood, still holding the stunned werewolf. Glancing over to the bus spaceship, Sica saw that her mate had dried it with his fire magic. The female demon hauled the still shocked werewolf in her arms to the bus spaceship. Just as she was about to climb into the back she was confronted with the smiling face of her daughter.
"What?" Sica asked even though she knew exactly what her daughter wanted and was going to ask. She was just like the demon woman was when she was her age.
"Can we join?" Ann questioned batting her eyelashes at her mother. She had missed the woman for the many years she was on Earth, and this was a perfect chance to reconnect with her.
Sica glanced up to see the walrus woman and the angel standing behind her daughter and gave them a fearsome grin. "That can be arranged," then she climbed in followed by the lesbian trio.
Charlie got in too, and the door was slammed shut forcing Tooth to sit in the front with Don. He gave the demon a questioning look asking if it was ok with him that his mate was about to have sexual relations with a bunch of others including her daughter, and the man just shrugged in return. Don got in, and looked over the panel to see there was a bunch of new buttons, dials, and other miscellaneous things.
"Fuck, just fucking get us into fucking space," he commanded to the bus spaceship. Almost immediately following those words a rumble began behind the bus spaceship. It grew steadily, and the bus spaceship began to vibrate. Then they were off the ground and rising.
Sica was the only one to not look up. Even the nearly comatose Lyra looked to the windows even as he was dominated by Don's mate. The lesbian trio weren't distracted long though before they returned to what they really wanted to do.
"Ann, make sure you grab the tuna can, the book, and the toothbrush so you can show your mom just how fantastic you are!" Toot crowed as her blubber boner waggled with her delight.
Don jerked on the radio knob so hard he nearly tore it off, and then cranked it up as high as it would go. Instead of music with a Norwegian accent like he had expected he could hear someone humming. Listening close, and trying to block out the sounds coming from the back of the bus, Don let out a strangled curse. He forgot he had modified the radio to talk to Napoleon!
"Don, is that your mate having sex with your daughter, a werewolf, an angel, and a walrus human girl?" the voice called out.
"Fuck!" Don screamed, and glanced into the rear view mirror. What he saw made his blood run cold, and his face heat. "That's my fucking toothbrush!"
