The Boy And The Moon

Voiceless, he cries
In the night.
No one can hear him,
No one can see him.

The moon keeps him
And she strokes his face
With the lightest
Of hands.

No matter how many
Wishes and dreams
He throws to the stars,
They never catch them.
Falling to Earth
At a million miles an hour,
Not even the moon
Can catch them:
They shatter at his feet.

And every night he weeps
For the dreams he has lost
And those he has yet to lose.
And the moon
Cannot comfort him,
So she bathes him in a gentle light
And sings that all is not lost,
Because he has love.

If only he could see it.
