Chapter 1: Alexyna

I guess people would say use to be such a sweet girl. But ever since the war in my realm, I turned bitter sweet. I've been locked up in my room, having to wear a ruby choker that traps my powers away. Made by my 'parents', it's a punishment for disobeying them. I have no way of getting out, the windows barred up, and the door almost always locked. I've been like this for about a quarter of a century now. As I have no contact with others outside these walls.

Today's the day, the day I finally escape this prison room. I was finally going to get out, no longer trapped like a bird in a cage. When the door opened for my next meal, that's when I'll escapes. The chains around my ankles have at last rusted, ready to break at any given moment. The clock stroked twelve, it was time.

The door creaked open, a Reaper with a full body black cloak walked through the door, their face covered by the hood. They're carrying a silver tray with food, as they went to place the tray on the table by my. NOW!

I suddenly dashed for the door, the chains around my ankles shattered. I rushed down the coiled stairway, hearing heavy footsteps quickly coming from behind me. Great, now the Guards are after me. Now I was running through the dead garden in the courtyard.

In the Shadow Realm, each building was on their own 'platform', like a floating piece of land with a building and such on top. If you fell off the edge, then...You'd be lucky enough to land on another platform that might be below.

Having nowhere else to go, and with my powers still trapped inside this stupid ruby choker, I had to make a decision; either be captured again or run off the edge and hope for the best. Without a second thought, I ran straight for the edge, once I got closer, I closed her eyes, jumping off the edge.

Falling, I screamed, but wait, no sound was coming out! What was going on?! I could feel myself screaming, but I couldn't hear it! Right when I opened my eyes, a strange black and red spiraled vortex was below me. What is that?! It was like a vacuum, sucking me in. I tried to spread my black feathered wings, nevertheless nothing happened. I raised my hand up and shouted. HELP! However, there was no sound again. Was this the end of me? All I wanted was to escape that awful room of mine.

What I didn't know is that it was a portal of some sort, giving me the freedom I so longed for. It was taking me to the Human Realm.

As soon as I entered the Human Realm, I was visible to the humans. Since I was so far up in the sky, I looked like nothing but a little black speck in the sky. Upon entering, the brightness of the Human Realm blinded me. I covered my vision with my left arm. I was not use to such light; in the Shadow Realm it had always been dark, only lightened by the tinted shine of the Red Moon.

The cool air whistled passed me as I fell. What? I'm not dead...Well, I didn't disappear? Since you know, Reapers can't really die...Anyways. My eyes felt heavy, closing slowly. My arms moved to my sides. It would appear that I had blacked out. As I plunged further down, it became darker. My wings vanished, leaving behind a large trail of black feathers following after me. My clothes started to rip away; each piece of clothing that came off caught fire and burned away. My hair; turning darker, from white to gray to black, as if my ties with the Shadow Realm were breaking apart.

Each second I grew closer to the ground. It was nighttime in the Human Realm, so no one could see me falling from the sky to my possible death. Tall building surrounded me; the sounds of the city filled the air. I plummeted on a building's rooftop, rolled off, and crash landed on an old mattress in an alley. Though, I did bounce off the mattress onto the cold stone ground.

My clothes have been ripped off, but I was not fully naked. I did have portions of her clothes covering up parts of my body, though even that was torn up. Still, the ruby choker was firmly around my neck, the only thing still in one piece. My black feathers fell around me, as a crow appeared next to the scene. My whole body was cut up; there was even a small crack in the ruby. It's a miracle that I even survived such a fall. Quite shockingly, this all came about in front of a young boy who just happened to be walking through the alley.
