Well gang, the Extra-Ordinary saga is complete.
…At least that's what I would have said, once. The story used to end here, at the park, with a hideously short and open ending, but that was back in my first draft. And quite honestly, that first draft was horrible. I mean, nothing happened in the whole damn story.
So once I got to expanding what I'd already done, I realized that with some of the keys and tricks I was laying out, it'd be worth it to extend it a few more books, rather than leave everything up to imagination and interpretation. Hence why this is listed as only book four of six; now there's two more to go.
But this is still the end of the conventional part of the story. One and two went together, three and four went together, but one through four all sort of did. Got that?
What I mean is that coming up next, we've got bonus time, an expansion pack to the original story. But if you expect it to continue down the road of ho-hum melodrama that this last one sunk into, think again. Book five is the black sheep of the saga, the oddball, a much more action-oriented and dense piece that distances itself from all the monotonous build-up that the previous books were accumulating.
It's a shot of energy. We move up in the timeline quite a bit, and introduce a few new characters to the small cast – some good, some bad. Aubna vanishes for a good period of it, and we jump around in time a bit more, introducing more backstory. And for your benefit, I doubt it'll follow the trend that the others had of each being longer than the previous volume. Same goes for book six, I really don't have a good grasp of how long they'll wind up playing out.
So for now, we say goodbye to Plant City and the Brummet manor. They may return someday, but there's a wide world or two out there waiting to be explored, and as a new threat emerges, heroes might be forced to step up and save it themselves.
After the initial chapter is posted, I'll be giving E-O a brief hiatus. But once I'm back for good, I'll start chugging through the chapters at the same rate I have for the first four volumes. Look for it to come out tomorrow…
…And I hope that you enjoy Book Five in the Extra-Ordinary series: New Clear Sky.
