INT. CAR - AFTERNOON

Tuesday

Cameron drives a dirty, light brown sedan through a wooded area and Ryan is PEERING out the window. Cameron has has lips pierced and is slapping the door of his car in sync. Ryan is bobbing his head to the song without enthusiasm.

Ryan looks noticeably younger and his hair is much longer this time around, but not like down to his shoulders, but still pretty long. It's lightly curly and actually looked like he dyed it blonde-ish.

CAMERON

So you have the money right?

RYAN

Yea.

CAMERON

$5,000?

RYAN

Yep.

CAMERON

Cool.

RYAN

How fast did you say it could go?

CAMERON

Atleast 120 mph. I don't remember though, all cars can go that fast.

RYAN

I think it should be fast enough.

CAMERON

Okay. So wait, who is that girl?

RYAN

Rachel. The new girl?

CAMERON

What's she like?

RYAN

Want me to go into detail...?

CAMERON

Please.

RYAN

Well...

CUT TO

INT. HALLWAY - DAY

Friday

The new girl, RACHEL, is walking down the hallway at a fast pace, clutching her book bags tightly with taller boys following behind her.

BOY

Nice ass, baby!

She keeps walking.

BOY 2

Looking good, guuurrrlll.

She keeps walking. Ryan sees this and intervenes.

RYAN

What the hell are you doing?

BOY

What?

Rachel stops and observes.

RYAN

Isn't it obvious that she doesn't want to talk to you? Stop harassing her!

BOY

But she got a nice ass.

RYAN

So... that gives you the right to harass her? Are you fucking kidding me! Just- be a gentleman and leave her alone!

Ryan felt kind of cheesy saying gentleman, but he meant it. The boy pauses, then holds out his hand for a bro-five.

BOY

Yo, dude, I got mad respect for you now. Man, I'm sorry man.

JOHN

Sure.

The boys exit and John looks towards Rachel. Her beautiful, flowing black hair with light curls lays a her sides, her shining face looking into his eyes. She smiles at him. He smiles back. John walks towards her.

RYAN

I'm sorry about that.

RACHEL

Well, thank you!

RYAN

Yea, no problem.

A silence.

RYAN

Well, I think I better get going-.

RACHEL

Wait, you don't have to go!...

RYAN

You want me to stay?

RACHEL

I'm just saying, you don't have to go.

RYAN

I'll stay if you want me to, otherwise I would feel like I'm intruding.

RACHEL

You're not intruding.

RYAN

So you want me to stay?

RACHEL

Yes.

RYAN

Then I'll stay.

RACHEL

Thank you.

She partially twirls on her feet in delight. They begin to walk, Ryan looking down on Rachel.

RYAN

So what's up?

RACHEL

Oh, nothing much...

Rachel begins to frown slightly.

RYAN

You okay?

RACHEL

Oh yea, don't worry about it. I'm fine.

RYAN

You sure?

RACHEL

Yea.

RYAN

If you say so.

Another silence.

RACHEL

Actually-

RYAN

(Grins) What?

RACHEL

(Embarrassed) Can you help me with something?

RYAN

Of course! What?

RACHEL

Well, I mean... Oh, never mind.

RYAN

No, what?

RACHEL

It kind of requires you to... come over to my house. (Twirls her hair)

Ryan distances his head from her, still walking, as if to say "I know what's going on."

RACHEL

You don't have to if you don't want to.

RYAN

No no, I'd l-, er, be happy to.

RACHEL

You sure?

RYAN

Sure thing!

RACHEL

Thank you.

Then she gives off the best smile any man in history has ever seen; so big, so sweet and kind, so beautiful.

Ryan goes blind for a second.

RACHEL

Seriously, thank you.

RYAN

No problem at all! I think I should really be getting to class though.

RACHEL

Yea. So I'll see you after school?

RYAN

Yea, I'll meet you out front?

RACHEL

Sure. Bye!

When they separate, Rachel clutches Ryan's hand for a brief second. Ryan looks at her and she blushes. Then they are lost in the crowd of the bustling hallway.

FADE OUT

EXT. HIGH SCHOOL - AFTERNOON

Students hurry over to their buses, hopping from the stairs, sliding down the railings, or just strolling. Rachel is waiting for Ryan by the school sign. They meet up and she leads him onto her bus.

CUT TO

EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - AFTERNOON

The bus drops them off at her house; a single level home with brown grass. She leads him inside.

CUT TO

INT. BEDROOM - AFTERNOON

They both walk into her bedroom; not heavily decorated, but what there is are two posters along the far wall and a bed near the center, and a desk by the window. Boxes in the corner. She drops her backpack by her desk and Ryan does the same. They both sit on her bed.

RYAN

So what is it that you need?

RACHEL

Some math help.

RYAN

Oh, sure.

She breaks out her binder and takes out her homework. They both look at it, and Ryan blasts through it. Realizing he's doing all the work, he stops half way in and asks Rachel to do a question. She gets it wrong and he corrects her, and they keep going for another ten minutes (speed through) until they're done.

They sit upon her bed again, Ryan twirling his thumbs.

RYAN

Is that all?

RACHEL

For homework.

RYAN

Need help with something else?

RACHEL

Well, I mean- (twirls her hair, blushes)

RYAN

What?

RACHEL

Do you like me?

RYAN

Of coarse.

RACHEL

In what way?

RYAN

As a friend at least.

RACHEL

At least?

RYAN

Yea, why?

RACHEL

I, uh, saw how you looked at me in Biology. Yesterday.

As she says that:

CUT TO

INT. BIOLOGY CLASSROOM - DAY

The students are working on some dissection project with some reptile. each student has a partner at a black, fire-proof table with a sink in the middle at each one. Ryan is working with some guy and Rachel is working with another girl. She looks up at Ryan and sees him talking to his partner. Then he turns to Rachel and smiles at her nicely.

CUT BACK TO

INT. BEDROOM - AFTERNOON

RYAN

(Grins) I was just smiling at you.

RACHEL

...But do you like me...?

RYAN

Do you like me?

RACHEL

Yes.

RYAN

Oh. I see.

Silence.

RYAN

So... do you want to go out sometime?

And without skipping a beat, Rachel pounces on Ryan and lays on top of him on her bed, looking into each other's eyes. She hugs him.

RACHEL

Oh thank you thank you thank you!

RYAN

Yea, sure, no problem...

Rachel rolls over.

RACHEL

Sorry. That was kinda weird.

RYAN

Don't worry about it. You say sorry too much.

RACHEL

Sorry.

RYAN

(Chuckles) Stop it.

RACHEL

Okay. Thank you for making that easy for me.

RYAN

Yea, no problem.

RACHEL

But can I ask you something?

RYAN

Sure.

RACHEL

Do you actually like me?

RYAN

I already said I do.

RACHEL

But do you like like me back?

RYAN

I've only known you for two days, but it shouldn't be that hard to get me to that level.

She snuggles up against him.

RACHEL

Thank you. This really means a lot to me. I've never had a boyfriend before.

RYAN

I've never had a girlfriend before either.

RACHEL

Really?

RYAN

Really. So if we kiss or something, I guess, it could be awkward at first. Just warning you.

RACHEL

When we kiss.

RYAN

We're making this really easy for each other.

RACHEL

(Laughs) So it seems.

RYAN

So what do we do now?

RACHEL

We can just lay here. With each other.

RYAN

We could.

RACHEL

Can we?

RYAN

We can.

RACHEL

Can we kiss?

RYAN

Already?

RACHEL

Yea, why not?

RYAN

I never said we couldn't.

They turn towards each other and the kiss, eyes closed. When they're one, they slowly pull away.

RYAN

Well, that was better then I expected.

RACHEL

Yea.

Another brief silence.

RYAN

Can I say something?

RACHEL

Of course!

RYAN

I just want to say... this just feels really good. I don't know, I never felt like this before. I just, kinda, feel, you know, warm inside, and it just feels good.

RACHEL

I know exactly what you mean.

RYAN

Just that a girl like you wants to do this with me. It means I must have done something right.

RACHEL

But you did! Earlier today. And you just seem like a really nice and smart guy.

RYAN

Well, I don't know about smart, but...

RACHEL

You're smart. I love you.

RYAN

This is going pretty fast.

RACHEL

Take your time. I'll get you there, hopefully.

Rachel snuggles even closer, trying to have her whole body touching somewhere on his. Her breasts pressing tightly against his side, and her leg is partially wrapped around his.

RYAN

Trust me, it's only a matter of time.

Again, a brief silence.

RACHEL

Can you kiss me again?

Ryan smiles and they go at it. The sounds of an action movie slowly overlap their 1st base love making.

CUT TO

INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

They are both laying with each other on a couch, watching said action movie. Ryan is enjoying it, and Rachel is just psyched to be with Ryan. Ryan has his arm wrapped around her, stopping at her stomach. We can see him glancing at the clock on the wall.

RYAN

Wait, where are your parents?

RACHEL

Away. For a few days. And it's Friday.

RYAN

Does that mean that I'm staying for the night?

RACHEL

I'd love it if you did.

RYAN

Then I will.

RACHEL

Thank you. You can touch my breast if you want.

Without saying anything, Ryan guides his hand to the mark non-chalantly.

CUT TO

INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT

They are both making out, Ryan on top of Rachel, eyes closed. Only the lamp light at her desk is on. They're under the covers, but we can see both of their bare shoulders.

CUT TO

INT. BEDROOM - MORNING

Ryan wakes up to Rachel sitting up in the bad. She's topless, but she's turned away from the camera, showing her back.

RYAN

What happened last night?

RACHEL

We weren't drunk.

RYAN

I don't remember much. We didn't have sex did we?

RACHEL

No. Not yet.

RYAN

Not yet... Well, how far did we go?

RACHEL

Third base. Good morning sleepy head, by the way.

She lays back down and begins to make out with him, but Ryan pushes her away.

RYAN

But then you have- stuff in yo-

RACHEL

I gave you a hand job. My mouth is fine.

Ryan peeks under the covers to see that he isn't wearing anything but socks, but we don't show that of course.

RYAN

Oh.

They make out.

The sound of Cameron fades over.

CAMERON

Woah, woah, woah woah woah woah-

CUT TO

INT. CAR - AFTERNOON

RYAN

What?

Cameron looks as if he's trying to explain something for the thousandth time, snaps his fingers, then goes about normally.

CAMERON

I still don't buy it.

RYAN

Well it happened.

CAMERON

What happened next?

RYAN

We both got dressed, and she made both of us eggs-

CAMERON

Of coarse she makes you food.

RYAN

(Jokingly, starts counting off with his fingers) Shut up, then we sort of just took a walk, then we, er, made out behind the playground-

CAMERON

The one on Bakers St.?

RYAN

Yea.

CAMERON

Dude! What the hell!? Weren't there kids there?

RYAN

No.

CAMERON

(Waves it off) Continue.

RYAN

Then we just went back to both of our houses and said good bye.

CAMERON

And did she tell you if you were going to be at the drag race?

RYAN

Yes, she did.

CAMERON

Cool.

RYAN

Yea.

CAMERON

So... she gave you a hand job, eh?

RYAN

Apparently.

CAMERON

What did it feel like?

RYAN

I don't know. I don't remember. I'd assume similar to masturbation.

CAMERON

Except better?

RYAN

Probably. Can we stop talking abut this?

CAMERON

Well, it's just that you, Ryan, managed all that on your first date, and apparently you were sedated during the best part, and we are going to get the car from my dad, WHICH, you are using in said drag race to impress her.

RYAN

Just about sums it all up.

CAMERON

I just think she's playing you, man.

RYAN

Nu-uh, I don't think so. What would she gain?

CAMERON

Amusement from your suffering.

RYAN

No, she's not playing me. Trust me.

CAMERON

What ever dude. Just seemed too easy.

RYAN

I'm just that irresistible.

CAMERON

What ever dude.

CUT TO

EXT. TRAILER PARK - AFTERNOON

Their car pulls into a trailer park and stop at one of the nearer ones. Cameron's home. It looks like wooden boards were put up vertically at the bottom all around the house to hide the wheels, but you could still tell it was just a trailer. Outside, Rick sits in a wife-beater and bathing shorts on a lawn chair, gripping a beer in his right hand a shotgun leaned against his left arm.

Ryan and Cameron STEP OUT of the car and walks toward Rick.

RICK

Hey boys.

Cameron nods.

RYAN

Hey.

RICK

Goin' buy my car?

RYAN

If that's alright with you.

RICK

If you have the $5,000, it's okay.

RYAN

I do.

He pulls out the money from his jacket pocket.

RICK

Good. (Gets up) Follow me.

Ryan follows Rick around to the back of the trailer and Cameron follows shortly behind. There, rusted out Oldsmobile 442 is stationed next to a relatively small above ground pool.

RYAN

I'm assuming it works.

RICK

Oh, it does. Like a beaut'. You want this car to last?

RYAN

I need it for Friday night.

RICK

That's it.

RYAN

Well, that's all I need it for, par say.

RICK

Well, I was going to say that she will last you a good while for your money, maybe another five years. Yep, I did some mighty fine tuning to this baby back in '80. Should work fine.

RYAN

It better.

RICK

Oh, it will.

RYAN

Do you have the keys?

RICK

Sure I do! Give me the money.

RYAN

Give me the keys.

They both begin to hold out their items farther and farther out, and fake each other out with the exchange at the same time, but finally make the exchange at light speed, inspired by Repo Man. Rick laughs hysterically while Ryan chuckles.

RICK

You're alright.

RYAN

Right, but this thing better work!

RICK

(Laughs, rolls his eyes) If it doesn't I'll refund you.

RYAN

Good. That was all the money I owned.

Ryan hops into his new ride and drives off, waving bye to both.

He skids out of their property and onto the main road, where he burns rubber over the hills in an instant and out of the shot. Engine roaring.

FADE OUT

EXT. HIGH SCHOOL - AFTERNOON

Wednesday

The students are leaving the school again. Instead of heading to his bus, Ryan walks to the parking lot with stride and to his new car. He slides and slams the door just as Rachel hurries over to the window.

RACHEL

Oh my god, you got a car!

RYAN

Sure did.

RACHEL

That's awesome! Looks kind of old though.

RYAN

It is. Hey, do you need a ride home? I can drive you home.

RACHEL

You can?

RYAN

Of coarse, it isn't even a problem.

RACHEL

(Blushes) You're too good for me.

RYAN

No, I think this just about evens it out.

Ryan turns to her and smiles, and she starts laughing.

He turns on the radio to the beginning of "Baby Be Mine" by Michael Jackson. He pulls out of the shot.

CUT TO

EXT. LOS ANGELES RIVER - NIGHT

Friday.

It's pitch black out besides a few personal flashlights from the viewers and the headlights from the racers. A train rumbles by, but nobody seems to be crossing the bridge behind them.

"Camin' Atcha Live" by Tesla booms from a sound system at full volume.

A shot from about the same elevation as the top of the bridge, but at a distance. We see the outline of Ryan's car creep down the ramp into the dry river.

He gets out at the scene and searches around. He spots the sound system stationed near the edge of the river with several cables retreating into a mini van. He spots a student about his age, TYLER, shining a flashlight at a clipboard and talking to another high school student. Ryan approaches him.

Tyler sounds like he's done this before, and talks a little faster than Ryan.

RYAN

Excuse me, Tyler.

TYLER

Welcome, and you must be?

RYAN

Ryan Clegg.

TYLER

(Scrolls down the clipboard) Ah, here we go. You racin'?

Someone unimportant waits after Ryan.

RYAN

Yea.

TYLER

Awesome. Well, good luck buddy. (Pats him on the shoulder) Who's next?

Ryan steps out of the way for the other person who says something that is over shattered by a guitar solo. Ryan comes back once the other person leaves.

RYAN

Excuse me?

TYLER

Huh?

RYAN

Do you know if Rachel got here yet?

TYLER

(Peers at his clip board and scrolls down with his flashlight) Rachel, Rachel, last name?

RYAN

Oh, er,... shit, I don't know.

TYLER

Well let's see.

Tyler flips through all the pages on the clipboard, and shakes his head.

TYLER

Well, she's on the list, but she didn't come to check in yet. Does she know to come to me and check in?

RYAN

Yes.

TYLER

Okay, what does she look like?

RYAN

Shit, uh, black, curly hair, she uh, might be wearing a jacket, but uh...

TYLER

It's night time Ryan, we're all wearing jackets. How black?

RYAN

How black is what?

TYLER

Her hair, how black is it?

RYAN

Very black.

TYLER

(Looking down at his clipboard) Black as the night?

RYAN

Yea, I guess you could say that.

TYLER

(Mutters) Makin' my job harder... Well wait, she's the new girl, right? Junior like you?

RYAN

Yes.

TYLER

Okay well, I'll keep an eye out for her and I'll try to tell you when she gets here.

RYAN

Alright, thanks man.

Ryan begins to walk away and Tyler perks up his head.

TYLER

Okay, have fun out there!

RYAN

Yep!

He makes his way back to his car until Cameron cry's out from a distance, and begins to jog towards him:

CAMERON

Ryan, you made it!

RYAN

Yea dude, I'm racing...

CAMERON

I know dude! This is going to be great!

RYAN

Should be. Hey, did you see Rachel anywhere?

CAMERON

(Reaches him, huffing and puffing) Rachel, no dude, I haven't seen here yet. I'll look for her for you though.

RYAN

No, don't search her out, I'm sure she's on her way.

CAMERON

Maybe. Good luck out there dude!

RYAN

It doesn't start until twenty minutes from now.

CAMERON

I know, but still.

RYAN

Thanks.
