The worst asylum

is where you

run, scream, cry

but no one answers.

Doors are locked,

the curtains closed,

and the lights

flicker into the dark.

Your eyes burn

while your lungs

beg for air,

but to no avail.

Sinking into waves,

seas of people,

you are drowning,

choking on the sounds.

Someone hears it,

someone mocks it.

They don't understand

that you are trapped.

A light comes

but fades away,

leaves you wishing

you could fade too.

There are songs,

echoed in blood,

piercing so loud

only you can hear.

The worst asylum,

full of secrets,

full of death,

is in your head.
