In 1945, an infant is mysteriously dropped off on an orphanage doorstep in Cleveland.
She was christened Jenny by the staff.
Jenny grew up lonely and dejected, unwanted and unneeded, not knowing who her parents where, and never shaking the fact that had they been there, she could possibly have grown up a better person.
And then one day in 1963 she is strangely attracted to a drifter. She falls in love with him, and has an intimate relationship.
But just as Jenny's life is looking up, a series of disasters strike:
Firstly, she falls pregnant by the drifter, who then disappears. Secondly, during the complicated delivery of Jenny's child, the doctors find she has both sets of sex organs, and in a bid to save the dying girl's life, they surgically convert "her" into a "him". Finally, a mysterious stranger kidnaps her newborn baby from the delivery room. A search is ordered out by police, but she was never found. Reeling from these disasters, rejected by society, scorned by fate, "he" becomes a drunkard and a drifter. Jenny has lost his parents, and his lover, turned into a man, and now, just to put the icing on the cake, he's lost his only child.
Years later, in 1970, he clambers into a pathetic bar known as "Pop's Place". He spills his story to an elderly bartender.
The bartender offers the drifter a chance to avenge the stranger who left her pregnant and abandoned, on the condition that he (Jenny) joins the "Time Traveler's Corps." Both of them enter a time machine, and the bartender drops off the drifter in 1963. There, he is strangely attracted to a young orphan woman. She subsequently becomes pregnant. Then the bartender travels forward nine months, kidnaps the baby girl from the hospital, and then drops the baby off in an orphanage in 1945. Lastly, the bartender drops off the thoroughly confused drifter in 1985, to enlist in the Time Travelers Corps.
The drifter (Jenny) finally gets his life together, becomes a respected and elderly member of the Time Travelers Corps, and disguises himself as an elderly man working in the bar Pop's Place and has his most dangerous mission: a date with destiny, meeting a certain drifter at the bar in 1970.
A drifter walks into the bar and spills his life story to the bar tender. The kindly bartender (Jenny) offers to help by letting him avenge his mysterious lover, and so takes a trip in a time machine to 1963. The drifter is attracted strangely to an orphan woman, who is Jenny, and she falls pregnant with his baby... Jenny the bartender kidnaps the baby nine months in the future with the time machine, drops it off in 1945 at an orphanage, and finally drops the drifter off in 1985, to have him enlist in the Time Traveler's Corps...
So what can you see from this? Who is Jenny's mum, dad, grandad, grandma, daughter and son? HERSELF! So SHE is her own family tree. SHE is her family!
