In the sun I work.

I work for the food that will never come.

I work for the clothes that I will never get.

I work for the water that I will never receive.

I work for my little brothers I will never leave.

I work for the shoes I will never wear.

I work for the shelter I will never have.

I work for the gun I will never shoot.

I work for the family I will never exclude.

I work for the fire that will never keep me warm.

I work for the medicine that will never make me well.

I work for the safety that is never there.

I work for neighbors who have not gotten their share.

I work for the wounded near me.

I work for the ill that never get help.

I work for the uneducated men.

I write for them with my pen.

African children starve.

We take for granted what we have.

Life would be fair.

If we all cared.

Take this moment to think about what you have.

If it were taken away would you be happy.

You wouldn't even be able to sleep.

So when your in bed tonight think of those who weep.
