Cloaked in Red

"The wolf is carnivore incarnate and he's as cunning as he is ferocious; once he's had a taste of flesh then nothing else will do."
~Angela Carter~

The horrid color was everywhere. Everything was bathed in it, making him dizzy. His stomach churned dangerously and he felt like he was going to throw up. He clawed at his eyes because maybe if he gets rid of them the red will go away too.

"Sir?" a concerned voice asked and he looked up to see a petite girl standing there. Her blond hair was curled. She had on a dress with a red cloak pulled over her head. Her green eyes were concerned and warm.

"Help me," he pleaded reaching out for her.

She pulled back roughly shaking her head sadly. He gasped as the red invaded his vision again. Her image blurred and he was back at scratching at his face. She knelt back in front of him.

"Sir, are you alright?" she asked and he wanted to snap at her. Tell her no, that he wasn't okay and she wasn't helping. He couldn't find his voice though. All that came out was a low throaty growl.

That's when he pounced, effectively pining her underneath him. He felt his body shift and his bones grow. Something was wrong and he was no longer in control of his body. The girl was making frightened hiccuping sounds underneath him.

"You scared peasant?" he demanded rubbing a claw down her cheek, "You scared of dying?"

"Please, no," she begged squirming from underneath him, "My grandmother. She's very sick. I need to get to her, give her antibotics so she'll live. Please, don't."

"Sick grandmother, huh?" he demanded not even recognizing his voice anymore, "That why you go off wondering all by yourself in the big bad forest. Don't you know what horrors live out here?"

She didn't respond, only cried.

"Please, have a heart," she finally begged after several long tense moments of silence.

He blinked and the red cleared. He scrambled off her in horror at what he had almost done while screaming at her, "Run! Don't just sit there! Run! I feel it returning!"

She didn't hesitate as she scrambled up and sprinted down the path. The man pulled his head in between his legs trying to control the beast. His breathing was irregular and he could smell the girl's fear. It aroused the animal inside him. He snapped his head up, his normally brown eyes now yellow.

"Ready or not," he called after her retreating form, "Here I come."

And then he was running- chasing after the frightened girl. It wasn't hard tracing her scent, her fear was everywhere, and it wasn't hard catching up to her. He howled at the full moon giddy with the chase. Soon he was right behind her, tackling her to the ground. She screamed again but no one was around to hear it. They were in the middle of the woods.

"No! Stop!" she shouted punching and clawing at him but he easily pinned her arms above her head with one massive paw. She was screaming and crying, staring at him with scared green eyes. He stared down at his reflection and saw what he had become, what he was- a monster. And he didn't care.

"That's right!" he called out to her, "Scream! Beg! Beg for your pathetic life!"

She continued to sob until he finally bent down and ripped out her throat with his teeth. She made one last gurgling sound before being silenced forever. He looked down at her beautiful face forever frozen in horror. Blood poured out of her neck staining her dress. The man moved back, staring at the moon, his heart pounding and stomach growling. He knew what he was going to do next.

He was going to eat her and he did. Her flesh was nice and tender. Her blood was intoxicating. It was the best thing he's ever tasted before in his life and it wasn't enough. He wanted more. He'll always want more.

He moved away from what was left of her body.

The red was gone, replaced by black.

I know the twins aren't in this but they will be the next chapter, I promise. The best part is, all you have to do is review. The quicker you do the faster I'll put the next chapter up.
