A/N - A poem written for a "Through the Ages" prompt :) Enjoy

In My Day

In my day we played outside,
Some would seek, some would hide.
We'd laugh and shout in the sun,
Oh my, you should have seen me run!
But you don't see that today.
It's not like it was in my day.

In my day we used to sing,
Along with Elvis, he was the King,
We danced away in circle skirts,
With men in ties and colourful shirts.
But you don't see that today.
It's not like it was in my day.

In my day we helped each other,
A bit of milk, a cup of sugar.
We pitched in for our community,
Lived with a sense of unity.
But you don't see that today.
It's not like it was in my day.

In my day it was politically correct,
To be brought up to have respect.
Talking back could gain you a slap,
Parent or Teacher, they wouldn't have that.
But you don't see that today.
It's not like it was in my day.

In my day we had no TV,
No Playstation or MP3.
Dubstep makes me want to lose it,
We had big bands and real music.
But you don't see that today.
It's not like it was in my day.

Times have changed and people too,
Oh, but how I wish it wasn't true.
Now there is crime and disrespect,
I can't help but look back in retrospect,
For the world has changed today.
It's not like it was in my day.
