she presses her lips tightly together,
refusing to sob,
to let out a heart-wrenching scream.
she wants to say a million different things,
why her?
why am I not good enough?
you chose her.
why? why? why?
she doesn't want to hear the truth.
she already knows it.
it rings in her head,
a type of mockery.
she's been hearing so many years that it's embedded into her deep, underneath layers and layers.
her lips quiver dangerously,
and she needs to get out of here now.
run, run, run, she whispers.
she needs to escape before the tears come crashing down,
before she finally collapses into a hysterical whirlwind.
