Tower of Misconception

You've shut yourself off my good sir,
it's been two score years and a ten.
Up in this tower you have locked yourself away,
what have you learned here since then?

Your family is dead, your friends don't remember.
Surely you realize to them you do not exist.
Up in this tower you have locked yourself away,
do you have any idea what you have missed?

Your skin is wrinkled and your mind is far gone.
You're darkened, your heart and soul are frigid.
Up in this tower you have locked yourself away,
do you see what you embody, how awful and rigid?

You've wasted your entire life writing this book.
You never experienced life for what it's worth.
Up in this tower you have locked yourself away,
so tell me my good sir. Does it not hurt?

I have stood by this tower fulfilling my duty.
I fought off attackers so that you may suffer.
Up in this tower you have locked yourself away,
and you're thoroughly convinced it has made you tougher.

But you're broken my good sir, you're broken.
It's too late now. Why have you awoken?
Go back to sleep my good sir, you're writing.
It's too early to wake up, too early to be fighting.
