Kaleidoscope

My eyes are out of focus:
They see, and yet they don't.
Everything passes by in a blur,
And the whole world is awash
With colours I didn't even know
Existed.

Shadows creep, unseen,
In the periphery,
They've turned off the sun
And painted the moon black.

I follow winding trails
Of fairy lights in the dark
Until, one by one, they sputter
And vanish.

I Fall to the floor and
Feel the dew on my fingertips,
And the grass between my toes.
I can smell the sunrise
And the morning.
But the shadows turned off the sun
So I cannot see.

So close, so close, but never reaching.
