They All Stood Quiet

Don't stop, don't turn around,
Just keep your eyes fixed to the ground.
For greatest treasure you may find
If you, your own business, do mind.
Such timeless words of knights and kings,
They all stood quiet as daybreak brings
A battle unlike any before.
A battle with making to win this unholy war.
Such trouble in Palestine lay,
But all would come to a head this day.
Jerusalem was won and lost.
But which side paid the greater cost?
Blood on both sides, such blood indeed,
But no truce there was then decreed.
Such ages past, and no change yet,
With ageless blood the ground is wet.
It was, one time, a holy place,
But all it now holds is Man's disgrace.
