The boy had followed me out into the garden, smiling graciously at my mother as she offered him one of my cookies. I sighed and pulled my brothers sweater sleeves even further down past my hands, and jumped in every puddle I could, glad I remembered to put on my rain boots. The curly haired boy stared at me a minute and then chased after me, repeating the steps I just did. I continued into the garden until I couldn't see the house behind my mother's rose bushes, and then promptly started to search for the small lily pads hidden in the pond.

"Why are you running away from me?"

I sighed and walked over to the boy. "The question is why are you following me."

He smirked at me and looked pointedly at his now ruined white converse. "I wanted to know why you are wearing my sweater, and I wanted to ruin my new shoes."

I blushed a bright red, and looked down at my covered hand. "This is Brian's sweater; I found it in his bag."

He grabbed my arm and inspected the sweater. "Nope, that's my sweater, which was stolen from my bag, which is in Brian's room."

I sighed and walked back over to the pond, tucking a piece of wavy hair behind my ear. "Your sweater is very comfortable and if you came to get it back, that's not going to happen until I am ready to give it up."

He came and squatted next to me, giving me a cheeky grin. "I didn't come to get it back, I came to say, you look very good in my shirt."

Again I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, and cursed my mother for her family blush. He placed a hand on my knee, and leaned in very close to my ear.

"But I think you would look better without it" He fell backwards into the pond by the force of my slap.

"Why are all of my brother's friends either douche bags or horny assholes? With the exception of Liam, all of you have tried to hit on me today, without even telling me your name. I didn't even want to come to this stupid engagement party." I said.

He pushed himself up and shook his curls out of his face. "The names Alex, and Lisa and Jack are very cute together."

I sighed yet again and picked a lose flower up off the ground. "I know they are cute, but it sucks having to be the cousin of the bride, and having to deal with all of the strangers in my house. There's all the family, then her friends, Jacks friends, Brian's friends, Brian's wife's friends. None of my friends were invited. You people are only 22 stop moving so fast." I turned from him and went to sit on the tall rock I had claimed as mine when I was five.

"And how old are you, miss pouty pants."

I glared at him and threw the flower at him. "18, yet still more mature than all of you love struck idiots, who think getting married now will make you stronger in the future." He picked up the flower and came up next to me.

"Get off my rock before I push you off."

He chuckled. "I'd like to see you try."

I shoved him, causing him to slip, but before he could drop, he grabbed me, pulling me down with him, causing us to fall into the gardenia patch with an oof.

"Quite a position I like, Chrissie, eh"

I slapped his head.

"Christiana, step away from the boy, or I swear"

I rolled my eyes and jumped off of Alex. "Be careful, it's my mother in law."

His eyes widened. "You said you didn't believe in young marriage, and you're married."

I started to walk farther into the garden. "I'm not married. It's Jack's mother, who happens to hate my cousin, and is bent on trying to make sure no one ever will fall in love with me. Every guy who has come over in the last three months hasn't spoken to me since she started thinking she could live here until the wedding. Even my best friend and he was gay!"

Alex chuckled. "Over here Mrs. Willis. We're talking over here."

I hit myself with the back of my hand.

"Get on my back" he whispered. I looked at him oddly. He rolled his eyes. "Come on"

I gave in and jumped on his back. "When I start to run laugh." I nodded and did as he said. Mrs. Willis waddled into the garden, her flowered dress making her look like she could fit right in.

"Oh dear me, you poor boy, put her down." she came over and pulled my hair, making me scream and fall to the ground.

"Alex is your name right dear." he nods and comes to help me up.

"No, don't get any closer son. She's not a good one, a little messed up in the head."

He smiled nicely. "I don't think so ma'am, she's a very nice girl."

She shakes her head, and starts leading him away from me. "I think she has a bit of the devil in her, born on the 6th of June, you know, poor girl."

He stopped and stared at her. "The mother of my child does not have any part of the devil in her."

I went whiter than a ghost.

Mrs. Willis started to splutter. "Mother of your child! Now she's defiantly cursed, pregnant before marriage."

He smiled and rubbed his hand together. "But here the thing, were already married! That little weekend she went on 4 months back, we'll me and the boys were in Los Angela's, I brought her out there and we eloped. And well, when I got here, I couldn't control myself, and, now I going to be a father! So please, be nicer to my wife, and don't tear her off my back next time"

I swear I thought she was going to pass out right there and then. The bastard took everything I had said and turned it into the opposite of what I wanted. With a defiant screech, Mrs. Willis ran to the house, hollering at the top of her lungs. For the third time that day, I smacked Alex up the side of the head. He smiled at me.

"Well now we can be alone."

I groaned. "No. Now I have to go and explain to the house that I'm not married or pregnant." I ran, again through the puddles, and saw Mrs. Willis making a scene outside the house. I saw my brother smirk, and beckon me toward him. I trudged over and stopped Mrs. Willis. She glared at me.

"She is making a fool upon this family, cursing our name, with that boy" she pointed at Alex as he walked out of the garden, a group of flowers in his hand.

"I'm not married Mrs. Willis, I don't know where you got the notion from. I was showing Alex around the garden when I hear you scream. We found you had fallen, but then you jumped up and ran like there was no tomorrow, but I can assure you, I have never even met this boy before." I said, trying to look as innocent as possible.

She glared at me. "She should be locked up, she spouting crazy talk, and is frolicking with boys in the house."

Alex rolled his eyes, and placed a hand around my waist. "Mrs. Willis, I showed up this morning"

Her eyes nearly popped out of her head, and she ran off, shouting about her poor son.

Soon the group dispersed and went back to enjoying the party, Jack popping up and saying thank you for getting rid of his mother for the while. As I was walking over to get some food, I felt someone grab me and pull me into the play house my brother and I had built years ago.

"Kiss" I heard someone demand, and I looked to see my brother and his wife, Kayla staring at me and Alex. Alex rubbed the back of his neck.

My brother sighed, "I saw the way you stared at her during the video call I was having with her a few months back Alex, and how you looked at her today, and I'm not stupid so kiss."

I glared at him. "You're wearing his shirt Chriss, and you don't look very willing to take it off."

Kayla sighed and pulled me aside. She looked at me. "Just do it, then me and Brian will leave you two alone, and I know you want to."

"But, Kayla, I've just met him"

She smiled at me. "The boy has been asking questions about you for months. Your brother nearly whacked him. Plus, me and Brian kissed the first day we met too."

I must've looked scared because she hugged me and pushed me back toward Alex.

I swallowed and looked at him. He took a deep breath.

"Here goes nothing."

I held my breath. When his lips touched mine I sighed and felt him growl into the kiss. The door slowly shut behind my brother and his wife. I smiled into his lips. He pulled back. "I've liked you since we talked that one time over the computer, and I needed a reason to talk to you today. Sorry for stalking you and making you pregnant."

I giggled. "That's okay; just wait a couple years before you decide to again." He gave me a cheeky grin.

"Will do" he pushed me against the wall and kissed me again.
