I dream of the wind

The wind rushing through my hair,

As I make my speedy escape.

I dream of screaming.

Screaming at the top of my lungs

This scream will be filled with joy,

This scream will be my release.

I will feel my chest expand,

My heart will open.

Dancing on my sleeve

I long to let this tension

In my legs

Go free.

I long to run

Bare foot down the street

To ball up my fists,

Saying, "I. Don't. Care."

To cry with forgiveness,

To stare down defeat,

But each choice I make,

Every road I take,

Never leads me

Down a path

To living that wonderful dream

Tell me,

Is what I desire

Too much for me to ask?
