Dear readers, I must say that this is my first story that I've ever shared with anyone. It was originally an English class narrative, the story had to have a turning point, in other words, the main character feels one way about a topic, and then something happens, and that's when their thoughts about the subject change. I really like this story, so that's why I'm continuing it. Enjoy,

"Sir," the voice of the young scientist echoes through the science lab.

"Yes?"

"I have done what you requested, the results are in." The young man looks awkward with his goggles and messy streaked hair. The General purses his lips; the young man's shoes are also untied.

"Well? Positive or negative?" the General glares at him.

"Er, positive, sir." The man stutters. The older man sighs, running his wrinkled fingers through his graying hair as he sits down in one of the plush computer chairs.

"Thank you, Tom." He sighs, his head still in his hands, Tom smiles. When the man sitting notices this he grunts, "What are you smiling about?"

"They are real. They are real and living organisms, we all thought the results would be negative." Tom grins, "it's kind of cool right?"

The General frowns, "Anything but."

"Eh, eh, what are you eating? Eh, eh, I needs to pee." My dog, Kyle, looks at me and cocks his head to the side, "Gimme your food!"

"Shut up, I'm eating my cheerios," I say through a mouthful of cereal.

"Oh, so that's what you's eating! I knews it!" Kyle jumps around my dangling feet.

"Then why did you ask?" I look down at him with an annoyed expression on my face

"To see if I was rights! I NEED TO PEEs!"

"Go outside!" I glare at him, I'm not really awake yet so I'm a little cranky.

"Dats a good idea, yes yes." His tail wags as he jumps through the doggy door.

I sigh and rest my head on my hand as I look around the kitchen and finish my cereal. It's a Tuesday morning and the sun is filtering through the windows with a light-orange glow. I dump my dishes in the sink and shuffle to my room to get dressed. I slip into a pair of jeans and a black tee shirt, then begin thinking of the oncoming day.

Pop's at work, and he's not coming back till six. Then tonight there's Chris' party, the one I'm not supposed to go to… I have to call Erin and ask her to drive me there. I pick up my phone and dial her number, waiting impatiently.

"Hi?" Erin's voice sounds slurred, I must've woken her up- no surprise there.

"Can you drive me to the party tonight?" I peer around the house; Kyle is back from his 'pees'.

Erin replies, "Yeah, sure," *yawn*

"Sounds good," I say. "See you in a bit."

"Da, bye" She hangs up, from the floor, Kyle looks at me suspiciously.

"Tom said yous couldn'ts go!" He gives me a stern look, "He gets angry at yous if you goes!"

Wow, I'm getting parented by my wiener dog. "Well what am I supposed to do?" I snap, slipping my phone into my back pocket. "Nothing interesting ever happens here anyway, it's so boring!" I grimace and look down at him, "Never mind what dad said, you will not be telling him," I cross my arms, "because if you do, I won't give you any dog biscuits for a month."

"EH, EH, EH! YOUS AN EVIL TEENAGEH, YES YOU IS!" He stomps his paw on the tiled floor, "I should be with a betteh owner, you is mean."

"I guess I should throw out all the biscuits," I stroll over to the shelf by the kitchen and grab the bag of treats. "No one's going to eat them…"

"Eh, eh, ah neveh gave meh answer!"

"I'm home!" I hear dad before I see him. "Iris?"

"Welcome home, Dad!" I shout, quickly folding and putting away the last of my laundry. His head appears in my bed room doorway. I grin at him; he has his lab coat and goggles on, plus his hair looks all haywire. There's my dad for you.

"How was your day? Did anything interesting happen?" He asks, walking down the hallway.

I follow him, "It was awesome! You should have been here! A bunch of zombies came in and tried to eat Kyle's brain!"

"Did you take samples?" His tone is serious. "Zombie samples would be a great hit in the lab, I would probably get a raise, too."

"Sorry," I grin at him and he smiles wearily at me. "Hard day at work?"

"Yeah. Could you set the table, please?"

I do so, then I help him cook dinner. I set the food down at the table as he gets drinks.

We sit and eat in silence until he points his fork at me, "You won't be going to the party, right?"

I swallow my fork of rice, "No, you told me not to." From the corner of my eye, I see Kyle looking uncomfortable.

"Good, I don't want you out in the cold weather."

Damn, it's cold out here. I draw my sweatshirt around me and watch my breath puff in the air. Erin and I are standing at the door step of Chris' house, in the middle of the night. She smiles at me, then knocks. It had been all summer sense we had seen Chris. He said he was going to go to Costa Rica with his parents for the summer. I have yet to meet his parents, which is odd because we've known each other since junior high.

Open the door, we are going to freeze, the door remains shut. OPEN, DAMMIT! The door is still shut. OPEN SESAME!

The door opens and a breath of warm air rushes out, "Hey! Glad you could make it!" Chris' face appears. His dark hair flops over his green eyes as he invites us in.

He looks the same as when I last saw him, only he grew a few inches, which gives him the opportunity to tease me about my height (even though I'm not that short). As he hugs Erin he looks at me funny. Didn't your dad say you couldn't come to this party?

I raise an eyebrow at him. Yeah, I came anyway.

"Uh, this is a nice house you got here," Erin says awkwardly, pulling away from the hug.

"Thank you," He says, breaking the silent conversation we just had, "my mom and dad are out tonight, so it's just us and Jake."

"There's no one else?" I ask, giving him a quick embrace.

"No."

"Some party," Erin scoffs. "Two Emos and two nerds, what has my life come to?"

We hear Jake's voice, "I, for one, am not a Nerd! And two, Chris and Iris are not Emo." He comes walking down the hallway holding a steaming cup of tea.
"Also, how do you do?"

"I'm good." Erin says. I grin at him, he has light brown hair that settles over his head like feathers along with a pair of big, feminine looking eyes.

"How about you, darling?" He asks with a fake English accent, turning to me.

"I am absolutely swell, dearest. How about you?"

"Oh. I'm grand." He winks, "lets have some tea."

"Indeed, does Chris have enough sugar?" I ask.

"Well, it depends on how much sugar you want, Daaaaaaarling." He sips more of his tea and grabs my arm, "You'd like your normal amount?"

"Indeed, I don't think he has enough, sweetheart."

"I'm afraid he only has one single bag." He sighed, "Chris shall never learn."

"Where's the nearest mental ward?" Chris looked at Erin, "Our friends have some major issues."

"My sweetie pie and I are not crazy!" Jake grasps my arm.

"Nope, just creatively insane." I add, he rolls his eyes.

"Want to go surfing?" Chris asks, I hadn't realized that we were right next to the ocean, we grab the surf boards leaning on the side of his house and run bare foot to the ocean. I have no idea how to surf, Chris makes me his student. He's a brilliant teacher.

"YOU'RE GOING TO FALL."

"YOU SUCK AT TEACHING!"

"YOU SUCK AT SURFING!"

It's now around two in the morning, and we are heading back to the house and talking about our teachers at school.

"No, I don't think Ms Payne and Mr. Weds had an affair." Chris says, grinning.

"It would make so much sense! Come on! When ever he walked by she got all weird!" I state, "It would explain so much!"

"Yeah, it would." Jake agrees. We go on and on, we are about up to the front door when I slip on a sharp rock. A sudden burning sensation shoots through my leg.

"OUCH!" Jake stops when I yell. I take his shoulder in my hand and lift my other foot bottom up. "Aw, hell." There's a huge slash in the skin, and my foot is dripping blood.

"Can you walk?" Chris asks, looking concerned. I see Erin through the kitchen window, searching for a first aid kit.

"I hope so," I say. I release Jake's shoulder and take a step forward, I curse so loud that the boys both jump back a little. My foot is leaking crimson, I feel like it's going to fall right off. Chris carries me bridal style into the house, followed by a Jake.

Once I'm in a chair, they take some time looking at the gash. Jake pulls out some kind of spray and unleashes the stuff all over my cut, the pain stops. I instantly feel better.

"That should disinfect it," Jake says looking satisfied. Erin nods and looks at me with relief.

Then Chris sneezes.

"SHE'S CONSCIOUS! DOCTOH!" I peel my eyes open, I'm in a bed. The lights are overwhelmingly bright, and there are hospital bracelets around my wrists. "DOCTOH! HEY HEY! MEH MASTEHS AWAKE!"
