Peace- Conversation with my other half:

Sleep, put away your weapons

Let the drums die away

Sigh deeply

We have won

Darkness vanquished

No more cold sweats in the night

Vigilance obsolete

War-time discipline subsides

Relaxing into dreaminess, hope

Through our sins, learning how to repent

The spirit washes

Bleach removing the old bloodstains

A faint watermark, serving as a suitable memory

No more meager rations of love and compassion

Energy redirected

Healing now commences

But we must never forget

No recollection is deadlier

Pass this on to the children of our thoughts

Remember who cast the first stone

Who raised their hands

Who was there

Who averted their eyes

Good and bad, it is our history
