One Hour After Midnight
when i saw you were still
awake with me, undiscovered
stars inverting night's
heavy spell of slumber into
fluorescence, a dream distilled.
steeping in the echoes of
conversation and the songs
we sucked from our tendons, thinking
they would become us, we are
the only ones in the world
in this moment when the moon
has fallen. for the first time,
i think the distance means
nothing, and i have hope
for what's to come.
