Chapter 2:Hudson and Ryder; partners?
Ryder's point of view.
So, following my amazing detectives intuition, the hated Hudson is now part of Team Ryder. I need his knowledge of the park, and this way I can keep an eye on him. There's a dazed look on his face as he follows me into my office. I told him we came here to gather my notes on the case, but I really went to go make a few phone calls. No one should ever say I'm an ass after what I do for Hudson.
I take Hudson into a small shop off of OakPalmPineWillow Avenue. I greet the woman in the front with a wave and one of my winning smiles.
She takes a look at Hudson "So, you're my new recruit? You look kind of... dead. What are your skills?"
"uhhh... this is a restaurant. I can do restaurant things" He says sullenly.
"Anything?" She gets a smirk on her face, "If you can survive a week here, I'll give you a job. Come here tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? Don't I have to do job training first? Survive? Well, I really need the money, so the sooner the better" Hudson mutters to no one in particular.
"So you've found me a job? hm. You didn't have to do that, you know. I would've got one on my own," Hudson tells me.
"Thankless as ever. You haven't changed a bit," I reply.
I know he's not thrilled about his new job, and I don't blame him for not wanting to work at the Clucky Chicken. But the manager, Rosmira, and I go way back, so I talked her into giving Hudson a probational job. The Clucky Chicken is like KFC, but Rosmira brags that the chickens are fresh. Thats great, but working there actually involves killing the chickens. I dunno if a wimp like Hudson can make it.
After about careful planing and great consideration (meaning we thought for about 2 minutes and decided to wing it) we decided to investigate the parks shady connections. We decide to disguise ourselves and check the park from the inside first.
You'd be surprised how little it takes to disguise yourself. Generally, people only really remember a couple main characteristics about people. Change the most noticeable thing about yourself, and most people won't recognize you.
"Hudson whats my most noticeable feature? We need to not be recognized" I ask him.
"Your ugllllyy face!" He quickly replies.
"OK, in all seriousness, what is it?" I say.
"Your loud, egotistical manner." Hudson says
"So am I."
"Fine! Don't help me! But this was your job, so they're more likely to recognize you. Figure your disguise out by yourself."
Our disguises are completely different. I'm dressed as a business man, while he's dressed as a tourist. There's not really any reason our fake persona's would hang around together, so we decide to split up and compare notes later. I don't mind, except that it kind of spoils the "keep an eye on Hudson plan" On the plus side, I don't have to put up with him all afternoon. We plan to meet up at the ferris wheel at 4:30.
