On Loss

Because we're so afraid of loss
We tune ourselves so to catch anything
That indicates a loss
We train our ears to catch sounds of betrayal
At a frequency unheard of
We train our eyes to see through illusions
At a wavelength unseen
We train ourselves to sense auras of a bamboozle
Around a space too-close

Because we're so accustomed to sensing loss
It's all that we get
Because we're so afraid of loss
We MAKE it a loss
