In his shadow I stand, watching as all who pass stopping to say hello. The athlete all coaches want. We could have gone all the way this year, or so they say. Yet, academics are his calling. Holding a 4.0 and probably first in rank, voted most likely to speak upon graduation. But math and science is all schools measure. The art, the culture, the world, parts of him no one else sees. Long nights we've gazed upon the stars, engaged with topics on literature, theology, and globalization. Only then do we stand in each other's light.
