Hark

Should you uncover in some distant age
The paltry words which on this page appear
Regard them well, if nothing else be sage:
While life persists waste not a single year.

But should the fleeting nonce yet disappear
The endless tides retreat to a distant shore
Grieve what is lost, but persevere
Adore the time remaining all the more

If Orphean songs whisper 'Nevermore',
Works yet remain, true glory can endure
Some Muses still might sing our grandeurs poor
And dwindling years can yet resist Death's lure.

Remember, while a single breath sustains
The chance to breathe in life yet still remains.
