Chapter Fifty-Seven
Sophie had expected Anna to pounce on her when she had walked into the bakery the next day after Marcus had spent the night but Anna had called in sick. After Marcus had left early that morning, Sophie dragged herself to work, pleasantly sore and eager for the day. Irene had remarked on Sophie's good mood, wondering why her mentor was positively glowing. Sophie, of course, had been mortified and wondered if the teen could tell what Sophie had been up to all night. But Irene had simply chalked up Sophie's glow to a good skincare routine and promptly forgot the conversation a few hours later.
She felt changed, as though something had fundamentally shifted in her. She felt changed, eager to see them and excited for her life. She felt present and in the moment. She felt alive. She wasn't afraid of the three men anymore and what they represented. They were no longer a threat to her independence. They were back to being her friends, back to being important in her life. She cared for them deeply but didn't feel the need to put her life on hold to spend every minute with them. She was proud of herself for holding steadfast to her boundaries and glad the men were respectful of that.
As the week flew by, Sophie spent her nights either taking care of Faith or on the telephone to one of the men. Dakota had hinted a few times hoping Sophie would invite him over but she had ignored the hints, smiling when he had grumbled for the rest of their conversation. She wanted to spend time with her three friends and she didn't want to rush it because it was a workday. They hadn't been keen on it but had understood her reasoning. She had promised she would visit them on her next day off and she was already eagerly looking forward to it.
On her day off, Sophie found herself in Camden, once again driving by the quaint empty building that had a 'For Lease' sign plastered on the window. She sighed wistfully as she drove to their house, wishing she could somehow open a cafe in the beautiful space. She shook her head, she shouldn't dream of such things that meant she would have to settle down in one place forever.
Sophie parked her Impala behind their grey SUV and stepped from her car. She locked the door behind her and walked up the pathway that lead to their house. Even after visiting their house these past weeks, she still couldn't get over how beautiful it was. She was a sucker for Colonial-style houses and this was her favourite one she'd ever seen. It made her yearn for a future with them. She made a noise at the back of her throat and shook her head to dislodge the thought from it. No, she wouldn't think of things like that.
The door was pulled open before she could raise her hand to knock and she found herself looking up at a smiling Wolfe. He leaned against the doorjamb as he crossed his arms across his chest. Sophie balled her fists by her side, wanting to reach over and run her hands over his muscled biceps.
"You know you don't have to knock anymore," Wolfe began.
Sophie shrugged.
His eyes narrowed on her face and he let out a sigh. "We've told you before, you're always welcome here. Just walk in whenever you want," he said as he pushed away from the doorjamb to stand in front of her.
"Are you going to let me in?" Sophie teased, smiling when Wolfe grinned suddenly and pulled her into the foyer.
"Where are my manners?" he murmured, kicking the door shut behind them.
Without thinking, Sophie closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his waist. She leaned her head against his chest and sighed happily when his arms immediately closed around her. This was what she had missed, she thought to herself.
Wolfe blinked back the tears that threatened to slip from his eyes. She was a gift and he would never take her for granted ever again. He hadn't expected her hug and he was humbled by her affection and trust in him.
Marcus had told him what had occurred last week and it filled him with such immense hope that it threatened to steal his breath away. She was ready for the next step in their relationship and he was more than ready.
He tightened his arms around her and bent his head, brushing his lips across her forehead. "I missed you," he murmured.
Sophie ran her hands up and down the plain of his back, smiling up at him when she felt him shiver. "I missed you too," she confessed sheepishly. She felt embarrassed to admit such a thing, felt silly to realize it was the truth.
"It's getting easier for me to say," Sophie admitted.
"Hmm?" Wolfe asked, kissing her forehead.
Sophie looked up and met his gaze. She reached up on her tiptoes and brushed her lips against his. "And it's getting easier for me to smile now."
Wolfe kissed her, his tongue sliding against hers. Sophie let out a happy sigh and shifted closer to him. His kiss was searching and it seared her mouth. It was hot and intimately hungry. She had definitely missed the way he tasted.
Wolfe couldn't control his hunger for her and kissed her harder, though he had meant to be gentle with her. There was almost a desperate edge to their kissing, both of them desperate and needy for each other. After hearing her confession, he had felt such love for her that he had to bite back the words. They had come so far in their relationship and he didn't want to risk scaring her off.
Though she was changed, he caught glimpses of the old Sophie in the way she smiled and teased. She was even affectionate now, though she still had her moments of uncertainty as if she was afraid of being too needy.
Wolfe reluctantly pulled away and leaned his forehead against hers as they both tried to even out their breathing. "Why did you stop?" she murmured.
"Because if I don't, I'm going to take you to bed and we'll never leave it," he said softly.
Sophie smiled and kissed his cheek, rough with a day's worth of stubble. She liked the prickliness of his stubble on her lips, she realized. "And that's a bad thing?" she teased.
Wolfe grinned suddenly, his face brightening in amusement. "You promised me cookies," he said.
"Cookies over sex...your priorities are a little odd," Sophie chuckled.
"We can have cookies in bed," Wolfe pointed out.
"Never-mind. You have fantastic priorities," Sophie grinned.
She let out a sigh and allowed herself to be dragged to the kitchen by Wolfe. She was both excited to be baking in their kitchen and disappointed that she couldn't get Wolfe naked fast enough. She was hungry for him, yearned to feel him and be with him. Even though he was standing beside her, she missed him. Missed the intimacy of sex with him.
"Do you want help?" Wolfe offered as he watched Sophie rummage through their cupboards with a grin. She was cute, he thought to himself. He wanted to go to her and bop her on the nose but he doubted she'd appreciate that.
"Not really," Sophie grinned at Wolfe's mock frown.
"You work too much and you're always cooking for us. You need to relax," Wolfe commented.
"I am relaxing," Sophie shrugged. "I don't see it as a chore."
"Are you sure?" he asked with narrowed eyes.
"I'm sure. Go do some work or something," Sophie waved him away as she pulled out the ingredients to make burnt brown sugar sables which were Wolfe's favourite cookies.
Wolfe studied her as she began to throw ingredients into a large glass bowl before he reluctantly nodded. Her attention was already diverted away from him and he could use a few hours to get ahead of work.
"Okay," he said to himself and left to grab his laptop.
By the time he returned and set his laptop on the kitchen table, Sophie was at the stove stirring what smelled like caramel. "Smells good," he murmured and smiled. It felt domestic—to have her in their home. It felt right.
Comfortable silence filled the kitchen as Wolfe began to work on a few files and Sophie rolled out the cookie dough. She loved the silence. Neither one of them felt the need to fill it with mundane conversation; both of them were comfortable in each other's company.
"Do you have plans for the holidays?" Wolfe asked suddenly.
Sophie glanced at him over her shoulder with a curious smile. "Why do you ask?"
"It was always our favourite time of the year," he shrugged.
Sophie nodded. It was true. The holidays had always been special to them—to her. With snow falling, snowmen built, Christmas trees decorated...she used to adore the holidays. But for the past six years, she had always worked during them and felt anything but merry.
"I haven't celebrated Christmas in six years," Sophie said as she sprinkled coarse Demerara sugar on a baking tray.
"Because you didn't have anyone to celebrate it with?" Wolfe frowned but he knew why. Her life had been so empty and sparse and the thought cut into him. This year, he was going to make it the best Christmas they would ever have.
Sophie nodded. "And hell if I wanted to celebrate it by myself."
"How about this year, we go pick out a tree and we can decorate it. Make eggnog and light up a fire in the fireplace..." Wolfe offered, loving the idea of making love to Sophie in front of a roaring fireplace.
"That sounds amazing but Anna's baby will be here by then," Sophie pointed out.
"Okay," Wolfe said, wondering what that had to do with what they were discussing.
"Well, I'll be gone by then," Sophie shrugged.
Wolfe froze.
Sophie, oblivious to Wolfe's reaction to what she had said, continued to carefully place the cookie dough on the tray. She gently placed the trays into the preheated oven and began to wash the dishes.
"What?" Wolfe asked quietly.
Sophie heard the darkness in Wolfe's voice and turned around, a frown knitted between her brows. "What?" she asked confusedly.
"What do you mean you'll 'be gone by then'?" Wolfe asked, rage settling into his veins.
"What's the big deal?" Sophie asked, crossing her arms across her chest.
"You're leaving..." Wolfe began.
She didn't understand why Wolfe was angry, rage radiating off of him. She turned back to the sink and finished drying the dishes, setting them aside on the countertop.
"What the fuck do you mean, 'you're leaving'?" Wolfe snapped, his patience gone.
Sophie shrugged and left the kitchen. Wolfe shoved himself away from the table and followed closely behind at her heels. Reality was crashing around him and he couldn't understand why Sophie was being so calm about leaving them.
"I was always planning on leaving Brooks. Ask Anna. She'll tell you. I was just waiting until her baby came and I could find a new baker," Sophie shrugged nonchalantly. She sat on the edge of the couch and stared up at Wolfe. They both frowned, at odds with each other.
Wolfe stood nearby and ran a hand through his hair to try and compose himself. "After everything that we've been through. You coming back into our lives—" he began.
"No," Sophie interrupted. "You came back into my life."
"Semantics!" Wolfe snapped. "You're thinking of leaving again. After all of this." He threw his hands in the air in exasperation. "What about us?"
"I told you, I don't know if I want an 'us'," Sophie murmured, looking away in guilt.
Wolfe accepted the blow. He had expected it and deserved it. "Then what about the families? Dakota and Marcus? What about them? What about me?" Wolfe argued.
Sophie stood and turned to him with a sigh. She closed the distance between them and cupped his cheek in her hand. "I told you from the beginning when you came back, I'm not going to put my life on hold for you. Or for anyone. Never again," she said gently.
Wolfe pulled away. It was the first time he had ever pulled away from her and they both knew it when hurt flashed in her eyes. But he was devastated and he didn't want to comfort her at that moment. "You need to let go of the past," he gritted out.
"I have," Sophie shrugged, "But I'm a different person now. And this is who I am. I don't settle down anywhere. I haven't in years."
"Then give it a try now," he offered.
Sophie stared at him and slowly shook her head. She hated herself at that moment when devastation and pain flashed in Wolfe's glacial eyes. "I'm sorry but I won't."
"Then leave," Wolfe said coolly and turned around, leaving her standing in the living room alone.
Sophie blinked back the hurt as she watching him walk away from her. It hurt, more than she had anticipated as she watched him go. She didn't understand what the big deal was. She had always planned on leaving Brooks and she never promised them a future. Why was Wolfe so angry with her?
As she stood there, something in her snapped and she followed behind him, shoving his shoulder. "That's it then? You're just going to walk away when we're having a conversation? You're always leaving me!" Sophie snapped.
"You're the one who is leaving!" Wolfe bit out as he descended the stairs that lead to the basement. He was done discussing this with her; laundry was suddenly more important to him than this conversation.
"Wolfe, please!" Sophie pleaded. "Will you just look at me?" Wolfe shot her a glare and Sophie winced. "That's not what I meant."
"I have laundry to do," he grunted and began to shove a bunch of shirts into the laundry machine.
Sophie watched in exasperation until her patience had run out. "What's the big deal?"
"You're leaving," Wolfe emphasized. "I don't understand why you don't think that's a 'big deal'."
"I was always going to leave," Sophie said.
"But this is the first time I'm hearing about it," Wolfe bit out.
"We're walking in circles. I'm leaving and you don't seem to get that. Why can't you just accept it?"
"What if I don't want to? What if I ask you to stay?" Wolfe asked quietly as he finally turned around to face her.
Sophie swallowed as she saw the vulnerability in Wolfe's glacial grey eyes. "I wish I could—" she began.
"Then why don't you?" Wolfe asked softly.
Sophie didn't reply. She couldn't seem to form the words. Instead, she closed the distance between them and reached up to cup his head in her hands. "I'm sorry but no," she whispered gently.
Wolfe tugged her hands from his face and stepped away. He couldn't be near her right now. He needed space to breathe, the air suddenly thick with anger and tension. He quietly left the laundry room and Sophie followed behind him.
"Please stop walking away from me," Sophie said.
"I don't want to look at you right now," Wolfe said honestly.
The words cut into Sophie and she froze, tears welling in her eyes. His words hurt. Wolfe seemed to feel her anguish and turned around to study her pained face. "I'm sorry," he said suddenly.
Sophie shook her head and looked away, counting to thirty and hoping the tears wouldn't fall. They betrayed her and slipped from her eyes. Wolfe let out a noise and closed the distance between them, gently holding her shoulders in his hands.
"I'm sorry," he murmured.
"The cookies should be done by now," Sophie pulled away and left the basement.
Wolfe let out a defeated sigh and ran his hand down his face. He just got her back and he was going to lose her again. He was trying to be respectful of Sophie's decision but damned if he didn't like it. He felt helpless rage that she was going to leave him. He didn't know if he could survive it this time around.
Sophie let out a shuddering breath as she made her way to the kitchen. She carefully pulled the tray of cookies from the oven and set them on a rack to cool. She heard a shuffle from behind her and she turned around, ready for another fight with Wolfe.
"I think I should go," Sophie said huskily.
"Please stay," Wolfe beseeched. "I'm sorry for what I said earlier."
"It's not that. I'm angry and you're angry and I don't want to say anything that'll hurt you," she said.
Wolfe let out a sigh. It was true but he wasn't ready to admit defeat just yet. "Stop running away," he said slowly.
Sophie blinked.
"Every time shit gets difficult or uncomfortable, you run away," Wolfe explained.
Sophie knew he was speaking the truth. She felt claustrophobic, the walls suddenly closing in on her. She needed to get away from this conversation. She had made a habit of always leave when things became difficult or too personal; it was a bad habit she had learned over the years. And she hated Wolfe for mentioning it.
"I'm not a coward," Sophie bit out.
"Yes, you are," Wolfe said softly. "You want to leave right now because you're uncomfortable. Just like you wanted to leave the first time you came here. Why are you like this?"
Sophie swallowed down the bitter words that threatened to tumble from her mouth. She wanted to lash out at him with her words, needing to get away. Wolfe had always been a safe haven for her but suddenly, she didn't feel safe with him. He saw too much.
"I don't know why!" Sophie lied.
"Yes, you do," Wolfe murmured, closing the distance between them until their toes touched.
Sophie glared up at Wolfe. "I ran away six years ago because I had nothing left—"
"You have everything now though," Wolfe pointed out.
Did she? Sophie wondered. She had the families and her three friends back in her life but she didn't believe they'd stay there for her. She didn't trust reality. After losing everything six years ago, she had learned to never be happy or settle down. Settling down only meant heartbreak and disappointment.
As they stared at each other, the distance between their chests seemed to grow until Sophie felt as though she were on one side of a raging river with Wolfe on the other side. A canyon grew between them and Sophie suddenly felt alone and lost. Even with Wolfe, she felt so alone.
Wolfe searched her gaze and let out a sad sigh. Sophie looked forlorn and small, ready to burst into tears at any moment. He had done that to her, he thought bitterly. He had never meant to hurt her—Sophie was the world to him. But somehow, through their argument, he had hurt her.
"Stay," he murmured, lifting his hands to cup her shoulders.
Sophie wanted to leave but that would only prove his point that she was running away. And if she left, she would be stuck in her apartment by herself, loneliness keeping her company. She didn't want to be alone anymore but she was scared of how much Wolfe saw in her eyes.
"Will you kiss me?" Sophie asked in a small voice. She wanted to feel him against her skin, needed him to take away the cold that had seeped into her body.
"You never have to ask," Wolfe murmured and lowered his head.
Sophie opened her mouth and brushed her tongue against his. He made a noise at the back of his throat and pulled her to him until their chests touched. The kiss had a desperate edge to it, as though both of them needed each other more than they needed to breathe. It was searing and blissfully tender.
Sophie sagged against him, heat saturating her body. She clung to his shoulders, trusting him to hold her so she didn't fall. Wolfe's hands roamed over Sophie's chiffon shirt and over her shorts, cupping and stroking her body through the fabric. Her skin ignited at his touch and she shifted against him, feeling his hardness against her belly.
Wolfe brought his fingers up to her face, stroking her cheeks and hair. She felt a tremor in his hands and held him tighter, needing him to know she was similarly affected. He tangled his fingers in her hair and deepened the kiss, stroking his tongue against hers. She couldn't seem to get enough of his taste and she pulled him tighter against her, revelling in the feel of him.
With his free hand, he began to tug the shirt from the waistband of her shorts until the shirt was free. Wolfe muttered a curse as he reached beneath the shirt to touch the soft skin of her waist. They were both shaking now, both overcome by need and hunger. He jerked her bra until her breasts were free and he cupped them, rubbing his thumbs over the hardened tips.
Sophie ripped her mouth free and cried out as arched into him. Wolfe bent his head to one breast and slid his tongue against the tip. Sophie gulped for air and ran her hands over his shoulders, digging her fingers into his neck. His mouth closed over her nipple and he began to pull and stroke her, sending shockwaves of pleasure through her. Her head fell backward as she moaned, her hips writhing against his.
Wolfe straightened, taking her mouth aggressively, his hands sliding over her breasts. The kiss promised darkened hunger and pleasure that bordered on pain. It was an erotic dance of tongues and bites and Sophie shivered, drunk on him.
She curled her arms around his neck, pulling his head harder over hers. Wolfe growled and with trembling hands, began to unbutton and unzip her jean shorts. He gripped the fabric and eased them down her hips, letting Sophie wiggle until both her underwear and shorts fell to her ankles. She kicked away the shorts and gasped when his hand searched between her thighs.
Wolfe brushed his fingertips over her swollen and aching flesh, cursing when he felt her wetness. Sophie licked and gently nibbled his neck, repeating the motion when he growled. He slipped a finger inside of her and closed his eyes to try and hold onto control when he felt her inner muscles tighten on his finger. She was so hot and wet, ready to take him but he wanted to savour the moment. He slipped another finger in her, his thumb brushing her swollen clit. He began to massage her, the knobs of his knuckles gently rubbing the sensitive spot inside of her. Sophie's head fell forward and she closed her eyes as pleasure wracked through her—maddening, disorientating pleasure.
For the first time in six years, Sophie wanted to stop running. She wanted something more than the safety of running away. She wanted forever. Deciding she needed all of him, she fumbled with his belt and zipper of his slacks until his pants opened. His cock strained against the waistband of his briefs and she brushed her fingers across the tip, a thrill going through her when Wolfe let out a loud groan. She gently pulled his cock from his briefs and gripped him, he was thick and hard in her hand. His heat seared her skin and she began to stroke the length of his cock when he withdrew his fingers.
With shocking ease, Wolfe lifted her; the realization of how strong he was sent a flood of giddy excitement through her. Helplessly, Sophie wrapped her arms around his neck and dropped her head on his shoulder, utterly boneless with need. Without warning, he eased into her and Sophie squirmed against the pressure. He was thick and long and Sophie's muscles fought against his invasion.
"Just relax, baby," Wolfe murmured against her neck. "I've got you, let me take care of you. Just let me in."
Wolfe brought Sophie's full weight down until her toes grazed the floor and Sophie cried out as his cock was slowly and torturously fully embedded in her. He cursed and shifted her weight, lifting and lowering her onto his cock.
It was erotic, having sex standing up, Wolfe fully closed, and Sophie half-naked. She was tightly impaled, whimpering against his greedy kisses. He was devouring her and she let him set the pace, knowing he was as desperate for her as she was for him. He set the steady upward-plunging cadence, stroking her with his cock. Every time he slid into her, her muscles tightened on him, pulling him deeper. Sophie shuddered, riding the pleasure as her limbs tightened around his body.
"Wolfe!" Sophie cried out as pleasure so intense it was almost painful slammed through her.
Her orgasm was ripped from her and she cried out again as she shuddered. Wolfe swallowed her cries into his mouth, diving deeper into her as he felt her tighten on him. He jerked against her and shuddered, his breath breaking as he found his own release. His cock pulsed in her and Sophie felt a hot trickle of his semen slip down her thigh. She shivered at the animalistic sensation, loving how it made her feel like she was completely his.
A long time passed before either of them moved. Wolfe was fully embedded within her, Sophie still tightly clasped against him. She felt drugged, her head lolling on his shoulder. They both gasped for air, their chests heaving against each other. Wolfe held her head and gently stroked her hair, murmuring to her. It took her a few minutes to realize he was whispering sweet, tender things in her ear.
Sophie pulled her head away and searched his face for any signs of anger. Their lovemaking had been spontaneous and unexpected but oh God, how it had changed her. She felt safe in his embrace. He made her feel special and loved. The feeling brought tears to her eyes and he frowned worriedly when they slipped down her cheeks.
"What's wrong, baby?" Wolfe murmured, kissing the tears away.
"I'm glad I'm here with you," Sophie whispered.
Wolfe made a noise at the back of his throat and he kissed her. This time, the kiss was slow and sweet and Sophie shifted against him, wanting more of the honeyed kiss. Reality slowly eased its way into Wolfe's consciousness and he reluctantly pulled away.
"I didn't wear a condom," Wolfe said worriedly.
"I just started birth control," Sophie murmured.
"Are you okay?" he asked her, needing to know she was okay with him forgetting to use a condom. Like an over-excited idiot, he had forgotten to use a condom; he had lost control.
"I'm okay," Sophie whispered.
Wolfe lifted her off of him, sliding from her and her swollen flesh tightened on emptiness. She let out a sad sigh, already missing the feel of his cock fully embedded within her. The hot trickle of his semen slid down her thighs and her pupils dilated and it dawned on him. A slow masculine smile spread across his face.
"You like that, don't you?" he asked with a pleased grin.
"What?" Sophie frowned up at him.
"You liked it when I came in you," he boasted.
Sophie didn't want to agree, Wolfe's ego was big enough. But it was true and she nodded. She closed her thighs and rubbed them together, enjoying the stickiness she felt. She just had an earth-shattering orgasm but hunger was already humming through her again.
"I feel like you marked me," she confessed.
Wolfe cursed, he liked the sound of that. He bent his head to capture her lips, stroking her tongue with his, and gently nibbled on her bottom lip. Hearing her confession made his cock harden and he reached for her hands. He gently pulled her hands and placed them on his cock as he reached between her thighs. It was like he was back to being a horny teenager. After the orgasm he'd had, it should have taken him a while to get hard again but with Sophie, he couldn't seem to get enough of her.
Sophie began to stroke him, running her hands up and down his hard cock. She gasped when she felt Wolfe slip his hand between her thighs, his thumb brushing her sensitive clit. He slid a finger in her and when her hips thrust against his hand, he slid two more fingers until she was stretched open. Sophie gasped, Wolfe's mouth devouring the sound.
Their movements were edged with desperation as though they couldn't get enough of each other. Wolfe pumped his hips against her hands as Sophie rode his fingers. This time, their orgasm took them both by surprise. It was a shock to their systems, sudden and painfully intense. Wolfe's cock jerked in her hands and hot spurts of his semen landed on her shirt. Sophie shuddered, her body arching against his.
Sophie pulled away, gasping for air. "That was—" she murmured, her swollen lips unable to form the words.
Wolfe slid his hand from between her thighs to grip her hips. "I should've taken you to bed," he muttered, "but I lost control."
"Feel free to lose control more often," Sophie grinned up at him.
Wolfe cupped her head in his hands and kissed the tip of her nose. "We're not done talking about this," he said softly.
"I know," Sophie sighed. She wished she could run away now and ignore their earlier conversation but she wouldn't do that to Wolfe.
Sophie glanced down at her shirt and let out a pleased chuckle. "We're a mess," she snickered.
Her shorts and underwear were kicked aside, she was standing there partially naked, his semen trickling down her thighs and on her shirt, her body was swollen and humming from the residual sparks of pleasure, and her bra was pulled up above her breasts. Wolfe's cock was hanging from his slacks, his shirt was wrinkled and his hair was disheveled. There was an intensity in Wolfe's glacial grey eyes and Sophie raised herself on her toes to kiss his cheek.
"Are you alright?" she asked.
Wolfe nodded, his fingers massaging her scalp. The smell of their sex filled the kitchen, intermingling with the smell of freshly baked cookies. If he didn't love Sophie before, he sure as hell loved her now. He had always been madly in love with her but that love burned brighter now that she was back in his life. And he was about to lose it all.
Though they both had lost control during their lovemaking, he could feel Sophie was holding a piece of herself back. Was it because she was planning on leaving them? Or was there a deeper meaning?
"I'm fine," he lied.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Dakota's voice broke through their intimate conversation.
Sophie's eyes widened as they met Wolfe's suddenly exasperated and amused gaze. She was standing in the kitchen half-naked and she didn't know if she should be embarrassed or amused.
"We leave for a few hours to get caught up with work and we miss all of the fun," Marcus grinned.
Both he and Dakota had come home to the sounds of Sophie and Wolfe having sex in the kitchen. They were both aroused and had enjoyed the show immensely. Though Marcus had wished he could join them. Dakota had been about to but had realized that both Sophie and Wolfe needed the time alone. But that hadn't stopped them from watching.
Sophie blushed as she bent down to retrieve her discarded underwear and shorts, but she met their steady gazes. "Enjoyed the show?" she teased, quirking a brow. She just had two orgasms but the knowledge that both Marcus and Dakota had been watching them made her body hum with need.
Dakota's eyes raked over her body and he swallowed. His Little Bird was a passionate woman and when her eyes fell to the bulge in his pants, he knew she was hungry for him. "Take it easy," he teased.
"Later," she promised with a smile.
"Damn. I don't know whether to pity or envy you," Marcus muttered to Dakota.
"Both," Dakota retorted.
"I need to get cleaned up," Sophie said, though she did enjoy the stickiness and smell of their sex that clung to her skin.
"Want company?" Marcus asked.
"I would love it but my body needs to rest for a bit," Sophie replied reluctantly. "At least I get to use your amazing bathroom."
"One of three," Dakota pointed out.
"You have three bathrooms?" Sophie asked incredulously.
"Three and a half," Wolfe corrected.
"And I barely have one," Sophie's eyes widened.
Dakota opened his mouth, about to ask if Sophie wanted to move in with them but he caught sight of Wolfe's dark countenance and stopped. Something was bothering his friend, he thought worriedly.
"Okay, enough chatting," Sophie said, about to leave the kitchen when she felt Wolfe's hand on her elbow.
"We're not done talking," Wolfe promised her quietly, ignoring the curious glances his two friends shot him. He waited for Sophie's short nod before he released his hold on her elbow. The three men watched as Sophie quietly left the kitchen, admiring the sight of her naked bottom. Wolfe sighed and raked a hand through his hair.
"We have to talk," he told his two friends, knowing there would be a huge fight ahead.
"About what?" Marcus asked curiously.
"Later," he promised them. "I need a shower."
