Prologue Part Two.
Monday, July eighth.
Sandra.

It's been almost two weeks since Daniel left.
I feel so alone in this house; it feels so empty without him here.
To make it worse, I think I'm in labor.
Considering, ever since the day Daniel left, I've been having contractions on and off.
Only today they started coming steady.
I walked slowly over to the phone.
I dialed my sister's number.
"Talk to me," She answered
"Hey, uh, Amy?" I breathed
"Sandra? What's going on are you okay?" She asked
"I think I'm in labor," I told her
"I'll be right over," She stated, hanging up the phone
I pressed the red button, hanging up the phone.
I walked back over to the couch, sitting down.
God, my life feels like a soap opera.
I mean really, my husband was drafted and had to go to war, and I'm back home having his baby.
I miss him so much.
I picked up the picture of Daniel and me, tears filling my eyes as I looked at his face.
He's the man you always dream of, tall, dark, and handsome.
I smiled slightly, thinking back to when I had just turned twenty-one.
I was five foot one, he was five foot eleven.
He always teases me about being so short.
I rubbed my belly, setting the picture on the table.
Amy burst through the door.
"Come on, let's go!" She rushed
Amy helped me out to the car and she drove towards the hospital.
She keeps glancing over at me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked
"You're quiet," She stated
"What about it?" I questioned
"You're never quiet," Amy told me
"I just have some things on my mind," I explained
"Okay," She said skeptically
We made it to the hospital five minutes later.
I was immediately put in the delivery room.
Exactly one hour later, I'm holding a baby boy in my arms.
"What's his name?" Amy wondered, sitting next to me
"Jonathan," I replied
Amy smiled,
"That's a beautiful name,"
My mind drifted back to the conversation between Daniel and me.
"I can't think of a boy name," I frowned
Daniel looks like he's trying hard to think of a boy name.
He smiled.
"How about Jonathan?"
I sighed, glancing over at the T.V.
"Do me a favor please," I pleaded, having the same feeling I did when Daniel got the call informing him that he'd been drafted
"Sure, what's up?" She asked
"Turn on the T.V. to the news," I stated
Amy grabbed the T.V. remote and turned on the T.V., changing it to the news.
"Breaking news tonight! Three soldiers are missing in action."
My eyes widened.
"Cory Johnson, Angela Moon, and Daniel Cullen are all missing in action. We will provide more details as we get them."
As soon as I heard Daniel Cullen, I broke down into tears.
Someone knocked on the door.
I turned my head to the door to see a tall dark haired man.
"Yes?" I asked, wiping away my tears
"Are you Sandra Cullen?" He questioned, walking over towards me
I nodded.
"Here," He handed me an orange envelope "I'm sorry,"
He walked out of the room silently.
I opened the envelope, pulling out a letter.
"We are sorry to inform you Mrs. Cullen that your husband, Daniel Cullen, is missing in action."
I stopped reading after that.
I nearly shoved the papers back into the envelope.
"Are you okay honey?" Amy asked, her hand on my shoulder
I shook my head 'no'.
"Please, can I have a couple minutes?" I questioned
Amy nodded, walking out of the room.
I put the envelope on the table next to me.
I looked down at my sleeping baby boy.
I kissed his forehead as I whispered,
"I promise you, my precious baby, I will do whatever it takes to protect you. I promise,"
I looked back up at the T.V.
I read the bottom of the screen.
"Breaking news! Three soldiers are missing in action; Cory Johnson, Angela Moon, and Daniel Cullen."
The words keep repeating over and over in my head.
"Three soldiers,"
"Missing in action,"
"Daniel Cullen,"
