I was seven when I had my first kiss.

His name was Johnny, and he was the third grader from two classes down, and one day during recess he pulled me behind the trees and pressed his lips against mine for 2 seconds and then ran away.

I couldn't stop smiling for the whole day.

I was 11 the second time Johnny kissed me. He was 13 and asked me to the big dance for the 8th graders. We had become best friends over the years. Of course I said yes, and dressed all fancy and we danced for a long time, and at the end of the night he pushed his lips against mine for another 2 seconds and ran back to his mother's car.

I swore to my mother I was in love.

I was 14 when my heart was broken. It was June, and I had finally graduated middle school, and I was prepared to be a freshman. I ran back to the playground where Johnny had told me to meet him, and where we shared our first kiss. And my heart dropped to the ground. There, in the same spot, our spot, I saw Johnny and another girl, their lips pressed together in the way I had dreamed about. It wasn't like Johnny was mine, but still, I had loved him for 3 years and was now terrified of what it would be like to go to high school and have to face seeing him with a different girl.

So I ran, and ran and ran, all the way back to my house, where I collapsed in a fit of tears and my mother held me all night. The next day Johnny stopped by, with a small present and a big smile and I wanted to punch him in the face.

And that's how I ended up in the position I was in, stuck in high school with the guy I was in love with, still, at age 16. At least he had a nice black eye for two weeks.

"J.J, are you even listening to me?" Johnny waved his hand in my face, trying to get my attention.

"No, dumb ass, I'm not."

"But J.J" he whined and twirled so he was in front of me, stopping me from walking.

"What is so important Johnny that you're making me skip class yet again?" I said, crossing my arms. A smile erupted on his face, and he pulled my hand, dragging me out of the school and to his car.

"I need you to help me come up with a cute way to ask Kayla to prom"

I looked over at him, and smacked him with my book.

"You're making me leave school so you can ask some random girl to a stupid dance!"

He smiled sheepishly at me, pulled out of the parking lot.

"You hate gym anyways. And would you stop being so violent. My mom is starting to think you're abusive."

I raised my book again, but thought better of it, and glared out the window.

"I hate you Johnny"

"Nah. You love me"

If only he knew.

We walked in his kitchen, and he threw me an iced tea. I pushed myself up on his counter and dropped my bag to the floor.

"Okay, so I was thinking maybe we could do a song and dance thing…" he started saying his hands moving in random circles in front of him.

"We?" I said, raising my eye brows at him.

"No we?" he sighed. "Fine then. I would do a song and dance or maybe a note in her locker or a sign in the lunch room…"

Johnny kept talking and I zoned out, my right hand subconsciously going to play with the bracelet on my left wrist. It was a simple chain link bracelet with an 8th note dangle. It was the present Johnny had given me the day he came to my house when I punched him. It was the nick name he had given us in elementary school, because the two notes where forever joined. I hadn't opened it for two weeks, but after I did, I never took it off. He had an identical necklace.

"J.J! You're not listening again!"

I jumped suddenly, seeing as Johnny had come so close to me that I could see the blue flecks in his grey eyes.

I shoved him away from me, and jumped from the counter.

"Why don't you just do it during school, over the intercom? And then say if it's a yes, please call the office on the class phone, and wait for the answer"

"OH MY GOD! Jayj, you're the best! That's it, you're perfect. And beautiful. God I love you!" Johnny said, running over and picking me and spinning me in circles. He kissed my forehead, and set me down on the ground.

"I already knew that. Can I go home now?" I said, leaning against his fridge.

"No! Absolutely not. We have to plan. We only have this weekend, because I want to do it on Monday"

"Again with the we"

"Yes, we. You're my partner in crime."

Johnny rambled on talking about plans, and I zoned out again. Suddenly I felt myself being pushed against the appliance and I screamed.

Johnny had placed his hands on my shoulders and had bent down so he was closer to my height. My breath caught, and my mind slipped into its darkest corner's my fantasies about this exact moment making me blush.

"Does someone want pizza?" he said, like he was talking to his five year old cousin. I gave him a confused look, but mumbled yes, and tried to keep my brain from wandering.

I could practically feel his lips pressing themselves against mine, his fingers running themselves through my hair. I opened my eyes, cutting the vision short and stopped the moan that was about to escape from my mouth.

"I'll call Mumbo's. Extra large and extra cheesy." he smiled at me, his tongue peeking out to lightly tease his lip ring.

My heart was still racing. I nodded again, and lightly pushed him off me, trying to get my breathing straight. Johnny walked into the other room, and I heard him talking to the pizza guy like he had been friends with him for ages. I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed my mom's number.

"Hello, Patricia Lynn speaking, how my I be of service."

I smiled at how corny she was. This was her cell, so she knew it was me.

"Hey mom. It's me"

"Why hello, me, how are you today."

I laughed lightly, already feeling a bit more in control.

"Just letting you know, when I get home, have the ice cream ready."

"Sure baby. Is everything okay?"

"Yup. Just a heads up."

"Okay. I'll get you your favorite. I'll see you when you get home. Love you."

"Love you too." I snapped my phone shut and turned, walking perfectly into Johnny as he ran back in the room. I lost my balance and his arms flew out to catch me. Again the heat burst into my cheeks.

"Careful there J.J. I need my partner in crime"

I rolled my eyes at him, and went to start my homework at the table. By the time the doorbell rang I had nearly finished, so I went to get plates. I heard footsteps clomping up the stairs, and I turned and looked up.

"Where exactly are you going Mister"

"The forbidden land of my bedroom. If you want your food I suggest you come up and get it."

I sighed and ran up the flight, and flung myself down on his bed. Johnny placed the pizza on his desk, pulled out two slices, and sat down next to me.

"Do you think she'll say yes." he said, staring at the ceiling.

"Of course she will. You two have been flirting for like 3 months." I took a bite of my pizza, and my taste buds rejoiced. "Gosh I love mumbo's" I said, letting my head fall back onto his shoulder. He chuckled and rested his head on mine.

"What would I do without you Jayj?"

"Attention Student's of CHS, I have an announcement to make."

Everyone in my Spanish class looked up at the speaker. A few heads turned to look at me, recognizing it was Johnny's voice, but I just shook my head.

"My name is Johnny Ryder. This announcement is kind of important so all of you out in the hallway shut up!"

"Johnny" I heard our principle in the back ground warn him.

"Sorry, Mrs. P. Anyways, as all of us seniors know, Prom is coming up in a few weeks. And well, there's someone special I'd like to ask." he cleared his throat, and a few more heads swiveled in my direction.

"Kayla Warnner. Um, I was wondering if you would be my prom date. Please call the office with your answer."

I heard him release a huge breath, and suddenly the phone started ringing. You could hear Johnny jump and answer.

"Hello"

I saw most of the girls in my class holding their breath.

"Really. Holy Crap! I'll be down to your class promptly!"

He slammed the phone down, and then everyone cheered.

"SHE SAID YES! Mrs. P she said yes."

I smiled to myself and clapped along with the rest of the class. My teacher held a hand over her heart and forgot about the lesson.

Suddenly I felt my phone vibrate and I glanced down and saw Johnny's face smiling at me.

"Hellllo" I said, bending down to block out the noise of the conversing students.

"Jayj! It worked. She said yes!" I heard him say over the phone and the speaker.

"Johnny!"

"Can you believe it J.J she said yes to me?"

"Yes Johnny I know"

"What how!"

"Turn off the speaker"

"What! Oh! Hello students of CHS, Sorry for disturbing your day. This has been Johnny Ryder with your prom buzz."

I rolled my eyes at the boy and heard him running down the stairs.

"I'm going to her class now. J.J your plan was awesome and you're great. I'll talk to you later"

I walked into my room and threw myself face down on my bed. I should be happy. By excited for Johnny, I knew I really should, but I didn't want to be.

"Hey baby, how did it go today?" My mom walked into the room and placed a cup of tea on my desk.

"Mgjhjsdhfs" I grumbled into my pillow.

"Sounds amazing." My mother said, laughing lightly. She lightly massaged my back.

"She said yes mom" I said, lifting my head up slightly.

"And how are you feeling about it."

"Saddened." I sighed. "But I should be happy."

"The heart and the head always at war."

"Stop trying to sound philosophical."

"It's what I do best sweetheart"

I shut my locker, and pulled my bag higher on my shoulder. It had been nearly two weeks since Johnny had asked Kayla to the Prom, ad they had been spending nearly every day together.

"Are you J.J Lynn?"

I spun and looked at the petite blonde girl who was behind me.

"Maybe. Who are you?"

She stuck out her hand, and smiled at me. "Kayla Warnner. I'm Johnny's prom date. And I need you to come home with me."

"Excuse me?" I said, pulling my hand back.

"I'm sorry. That sounded extremely creepy. I need your help," she bit her lip lightly rocked back and forth.

"With…" I was getting irritated now. I didn't want to be mean to her, but I was really freaked.

"My prom dress. I need to know if he will like it. And you're his best girl friend."

My eyebrows knotted together.

"Um I guess. As long as you don't like kill me."

"Oh, gosh, of course not." She laughed and lightly placed a hand on my arm. She pulled me out to her car and hopped in. My eyes widened. The car was a bright cherry red convertible, complete with the black leather seats.

"Nice car." I choked out.

"Thanks." She pulled away and sped off in the direction of her house.

I sat in Kayla's room, as she ran into her walk in closet to get changed. I looked in the full length mirror, and squinted at myself. My way brown hair was twisted into a messy bun, and my ocean blue eyes were lined with little makeup. I glanced around the room and saw pictures of her with her friends everywhere.

"How did you know me and Johnny are best friends." I said, tucking my leg under me.

"His necklace. I asked him about it and he told me the story of you two. And I thought it was perfect. I could get a girl who knows him well's opinion, make a new friend, and share shoes with you."

I glanced at my converse. "How do know my shoe size?"

"You left a pair at Johnny's house and I tried them on."

This girl confused me.

"Alright. I just need a little help with the tie." She stepped out of the closet. "What do you think?"

"Your dress is gorgeous." I said, my mouth dropping open. The gown was a white strapless sweetheart neckline with an embellished bust that fell into ruffles past her waist. She bit her lip and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"Will Johnny like it." she said, rocking back and forth on her feet.

"Kayla, I think he'll be speechless. And that's a lot for Johnny."

She squealed and ran to hug me.

"J.J I'm so excited! We have to go shoe shopping, and you have to help me pick out his bow tie!"

I nodded and laughed,

"Sure. Why not"

I jumped at the sound of the car horn the next day. I was walking in the school parking lot, still half asleep, and the sound of an annoying car horn was not what I wanted. I ignored it and kept walking. The horn sounded again, and without turning around I flipped the driver off. No way in hell was I moving for the ass behind me. Suddenly I felt a nudge on my leg and I screamed spinning, and walking toward the driver, ready to curse them out.

"What the fucking hell is you're…"

"Get in the car J.J" Johnny said, leaning out the window of his dad's range rover.

"Are you kidding me? No!" I said, scrambling up on the side walk, and away from him.

"J.J get in the car."

I shook my head and kept walking.

"I have chocolate chip cookies from Ben's"

I stopped for a second and glared at him. "I have chemistry test. I'm not skipping for you today."

He sighed. "We both know you're going to fail, and I already got your mom to call you in sick. Said you needed a day off. Have I ever told you how awesome your mother is?" He ran his hand through his dark brown hair and flashed me a heart stopping smile.

"I hate you" I said, as I climbed in the car and took a cookie from the bag.

He drove for a while and pulled out onto the parkway. He flipped with the music and ran his hand through his hair again.

"So… Where did you go with Kayla yesterday?"

"You're kidding me right?" I said, crossing my arms.

"What?"

"You're making me skip school, so you can ask what I was doing with Kayla!"

He nodded weakly and gave me a sheepish grin.

"Where the hell are you taking me Johnny?"

"Beach" he said, emphasizing the ch. I growled at him, and smacked him up the side of the head.

"Bathing suit?"

"Grabbed one from your drawer that my mom put aside for you."

I sighed and sat back.

"She was asking for some help with girl things. Stuff you wouldn't understand Johnny. Plus she wanted to give me some shoes." I said glancing down at the cute flats she had given me.

"Where you talking about me?"

"No dumbass. You have such a big ego."

He just flashed me a smile and sped on down the road.

I jumped out of the car and walked over to Johnny. "I love your beach house" I said, taking the bathing suit he handed me, along with 2 cardboard boxes.

"Johnny?"

"This is where were coming after prom. Your helping me set up the place, and then we can go to the beach."

We went inside and I helped him hang up some of the things he had put in the box. My phone rang and I pulled it out of my pocket and walked into the next room.

"So where is your mysterious day off." my mother said.

"Beach" I said, raiding the refrigerator for something to eat.

"Oh. No shirts and bikinis. Nice idea."

"Mom!"

"I'm kidding, baby. That's nice." she laughed. "Just be home at a reasonable time."

"Ya, Ya, mom. I got you."

"Alright I love you baby. Have fun."

"Love you too."

I walked back into the living room, and I felt something hit my face.

"Get changed, pretty lady! Were going swimming."

I sighed and went to change. My eyes nearly bugged out of my head. I never wore bikinis, but my mother had bought me one last summer.

"Of all the bathing suits at your house." I growled as I walked out.

Johnny turned, and stopped dead in his tracks. His grey eyes walked up my body, and I felt myself heat up. I let my eyes wander up his figure. He was wearing a simple pair of black and white shorts, and he was shirtless. I tucked my lip into my teeth. He was fit from years of soccer, I swooned. I saw his tongue slip out and play with his piercing. I coughed awkwardly, and he jumped.

He threw his shirt at me. "Cover up" he said awkwardly, and ran his hand through his hair. He let it sit there, and my insides went crazy.

"Fix your hair you look like you just had sex."

"Does that make you feel uncomfortable" he said, throwing an arm around me.

"People might get ideas"

"Let them" he whispered. I felt my face heat up again. It was going to be a long day.

It was the day.

Prom was here. Girls were going crazy; boys were huddling talking about later tonight.

"J.J!" Kayla yelled at me down the hallway. She caught up with me and grabbed my arm. "Are you stopping by tonight. Please tell me you are. I need you to come."

"I was going over to Johnny's. I guess I could stop by over at yours if my mom could give me a ride." I shrugged.

"You better be there. If you're not I'll hold it against you forever." She smiled at me and ran off down the hall way.

I hoped into Johnny's care after school and he sped off down the street.

"You're coming over today right. You can come like in 3 hours. I should be showered and shaved by then."

I looked over at him and laughed. "You guys are so adorable."

He glared at me. "Shut up." He smiled at me and pulled into his drive way. "Remember. Three hours."

I nodded and ran into my house.

"Johnny?" I said, peeking into his room.

"J.J. Three hours on the dot" he said, turning around and fiddling with the white bow tie.

"Need help with that." I walked over and knotted the fabric into a neat bow. He ran over to the mirror and glanced into it.

"Thanks." he had gelled his hair somewhat up, and pulled on his jacket. "How do I look." he said, spreading his arms and doing a 360 for me.

"Incredibly handsome." he smiled at me, and held out his arm.

"My lady." I giggled at him and placed a hand on his arm. We walked down the stairs and I heard the flash of 3 cameras. My mom smiled largely, and Johnny's mom was crying, and his father looked proud.

"Reminds me of 8th grade" Johnny whispered to me.

"Darn. I left my fancy shoes with Kayla."

The camera lights flashed all over Johnny, and then I was telling my mom the way to Kayla's house. I ran inside sat next to her brother, Jackson, who was a year younger than me. Kayla's mother came down the stairs.

"And Now Presenting, Miss. Kayla Warnner"

I saw Johnny go pale, and he started to fidget. She came down the stairs, and his mouth fell open. She blushed, and walked down the stairs carefully. The lights flashed again on the camera's from Johnny's parents, Kayla's parents, my mom, Kayla's cousins and aunts.

Johnny just watched Kayla wide eyed. I felt a pang in my heart but ignored it. I ran over to Kayla to give her a hug.

"What did I tell you? Speechless."

She smiled at me, and then they were out the door, in the limo, and on their way to pick up the rest of their group. I ran outside, and waved at the limo as I drove off. Johnny stuck his head out and blew me a kiss.

Gosh, my heart ached.

I kicked open my bedroom door, and hummed along to the music that was playing from my I pod. My heart jumped when I saw someone sitting on my bed, the book I was reading in his hand. I leaned against the door jam, and took a spoonful of my ice cream.

"Well hello there sexy" I said, causing Johnny to look up at me. He had lost his jacket and his bowtie was undone, his hair a mess. He smiled at me, and rolled off my bed.

"Of all the things to do on a Friday night, you stay home and read a book."

I shrugged. "All my friends were either at prom or out." He walked over to me and took some of my ice cream.

"Shouldn't you be on your way to the shore?" I said, taking back my spoon.

"Had to do something first. Told them all I'd be back at their places within the hour.

"What did you have to do that includes being in my bedroom."

"I came to say goodbye." he said, his hand coming up to brush my hair behind my ear.

I felt my heartbeat race, and myself blush. "Kayla" I managed to choke out.

"We decided it would be better if we were just friends." he whispered before pressing his lips against mine. I kissed him back and smiled against his lips.

He pulled back and smiled at me. "Goodbye" he whispered, before placing another peck on my lips and running out the window. I fell back against the wall, a permanent smile etched on my face for the rest of the night.

I was six when I met my best friend. 7 when I had my first kiss. When I was 11, I fell in love; at 14 he broke my heart. And at 16, he told me he loved me.

Hiii. So what did you guys think. I'm actually quite proud of this one. Sorry that my grammar skills are lacking. Drop me off a review and let me know what you think. It would make my day :D
