!HEADS UP! This is going to be a bunch of one-shots and funny character interactions that I am inspired to write about. So BE WARNED there will not be a solid plot to this nor will it make sense if you try and connect the chapters . . . well some might but it is unintentional. I will give backgrounds, and other things I think about while writing each chapter but hopefully they won't be too extensive. So please enjoy my spurts of imagination!
Ok so this story is pretty old and is how I used to write when I first started on quizilla . . . you know it used to be an ok site . . . then it turned too prepy for me (no offence to anyone I just don't like it any more)
Once, long ago there was a rampaging demon on the loose terrorizing villages and killing the innocent. She would move from one village to another at random to the point where everyone in the land feared to come out of their homes. There seemed to be no end to this horrible period of fire and blood when two travelers came to one of these villages
A small boy had heard that one of these travelers was a mage that has studied the dark creatures of hell and has defeated them many times. This boy begged the mage and his warrior partner to help the village and kill this demon who has already killed many including the child's own mother and older brother.
Now this demon they were to face was no ordinary demon. She has lived for thousands and thousands of years and could level the tallest mountain in one attack. But instead of listening to his own reason he looked at the frightened and angered boy and said.
"This demon will not see another full moon if I have anything to say about it." The mage took the next few days to gather equipment and information about this demon and the warrior trained vigorously. In these few weeks the mage found the only way to defeat the demon is to seal her away in his staff, for it was the only thing strong enough to withhold her powers.
The day finally came for the warrior and the mage to face this terrible demon.
The demon was a gorgeous woman that looked the age of 25. Her gray hair was short and spiked and her eyes were so black they look like they were their own portals to hell. Her skin was as white as snow and her lips as pink as a cherry blossom. Her main kimono has a vibrant red background, the black outline of petals falling, and colored in with gold.
After a long gruesome battle, that led to the death of the warrior and the maiming of the mage the demon finally let her guard down long enough for the mage to attack. He cast a binding spell on her so that every time she moves a bolt of lightning would serge through her immortal body. As the furious screams of the demon filled the air, the mage began to chant an ancient spell of the old summoners. The mage stabs his staff into the demons heart as a bright light shines and shackles clamp her wrists, ankles, and neck. The light dims the only thing left is the fading echoes of her cries.
The mage looks around for a trace of the demon he had just defeated. But the only thing left is the red glow around his once blue crystal on his staff.
The villagers finally had the courage to go and see what has happened to the brave travelers and walk into the clearing just in time to see the mage shovel the last hand full of dirt on his friend's grave. In honor of his friend the mage stabbed his staff into the ground just above the head of the grave. The ground shakes as vines split the earth and entwine around the staff to make a large cherry blossom tree that, when in full bloom, could be seen from miles away. As a last precaution the mage takes the sword of his fallen partner, stabs it into one of the roots of the tree, ties his own prayer beads around it, and places a seal on it so that nothing can harm the tree.
He turns to the villagers who are still trying to comprehend what they just saw. "My friends, be warned! Do not pull this sword from the root for that protects the tree that is keeping the staff out of reach of evil hands. My friend has sacrificed his life so that I was able to seal this demon. This cherry blossom tree will always bloom on this day. It is my wish that you hold a small celebration every year to honor my friend's life the freedom he granted you."
Agreeing to the mage's terms the villagers also begged the mage to stay in the village. Telling him he would never have to worry about finding food or shelter. He agreed and began helping with the decorations. The next day the villager began to put together a small celebration under the cherry blossom. When night fell the lanterns are lit and the games and eating began. The mage sat at the base of the cherry tree beside his friend's grave, drinking sake, and watching the villagers play and laugh.
The same boy, who begged the mage to fight for the village walks up to him. "Thank you sir and I am sorry for your friend." The mage ruffles up the boy's hair.
"Do not be sad for my friend. This way we can finally rest and find peace." The mage smiles at the boy but he only looks puzzled. "What is it boy?"
"I was only wondering, where did the demon go? I was expecting a statchu of her fossilized body or a pile of ashes blown away by the wind."
"No the magic I used seals away the body and soul of the creature I use it on."
"But then where did she go?"
"She is trapped within the blue crystal on my staff to spend the rest of time in solitude. Maybe within that time she can calm herself and the sword or tree will not be needed to bind her."
"Doesn't this story sound heroic? The only thing wrong with it is that there are two things that are not true. It didn't end with an echoing scream . . . in-fact it hasn't really ended yet. There is a completely different world on the other side of limbo where the spirits are sealed. Would you like to hear what happens to me, the demon that is chained in the branches of a cherry tree?"
My name is Akki and I was chained in the branches of this cherry tree for over 500 years, that is if I haven't lost count. It was so that the humans would be protected from my uncontrollable wrath that I still can't remember who or what started it. But each passing year I would regain bits and pieces of my sanity and with that the chin links would lengthen so that I can have a little bit more freedom in my lonely bird cage.
. . . No I take that back, I am not completely alone, because every so often there are fogged figures of people that appear only under the trees limbs. Normally they will be having picnics or be playing a game of tag but there was one day that a girl ran to the tree crying. When she got to the trunk three boys came up behind her and started to through mud and rocks at her as she tried to climb.
And for a brief second I could feel the fire inside me flare up once again. "Hey! Why are you- . . . stop hurting her!" A wind blew the boy's hard enough that they had to shield their eyes from the flying dust and leaves, but it didn't touch the small, dirty girl. The three boys looked around and then up in the tree right at me. "Do you see me boys?" They started to step back as their eyes widened in fear. "LEAVE!" the wind blew again and the figures blew out from under the tree and disappeared.
I look down at the girl who was still crying and trying to wipe the dirt from her face. I tried to climb down but when I was only inches from the little girl the chains synched up so that I hang there looking at her so close yet unreachable. I looked at my extremely long hair passing through her body like it isn't even there. Taking a seat on the lowest branches I watch her cry. "Don't cry . . . please don't cry, because I cannot do anything." She sniffs a few times before looking up into the branches . . . right at me.
"You . . ." The little girl stands up and talks lauder. "You're the demon bound to this cherry tree?" I only nod my head.
'I was afraid that she knew my story.' I begin to climb up so that she wouldn't be able to see me.
"No, no wait!" I stop and see the girl trying to climb the tree after me. "What was your real story?"
"You already know my story." I couldn't look her in the eyes because hate and pity frighten me.
"But people lie because others are different from them. You are different and do not look like a person to go off and kill thousands of people." I close my eyes before tilting my head up and smiling.
"Well, in this case, it happens to be true." There was a time of silence and I thought that she had run off.
"But why," Her voice was so small and helpless but it still startled me. Her face looked like her heart had been crushed. "you are so beautiful and nice. You helped me just a little while ago."
"It was because something or someone set a fire in my core so hot that it burnt my soul to the point I had to numb it. When I did that my demon instincts took over."
"Then it wasn't your fault."
"It was my fault. I let the demon out because I couldn't take the pain, and I thank whoever sealed me away from the human world." Her eyes lit up and she smiles.
"Here wait I will be back!" She runs off and disappears just as the other three boys did and I wait.
7 days pass and the girl never comes back. "Maybe I am doomed to die here by myself." I look up at the starry sky and watch as the leaves make the stars twinkle. "I guess those last years of my life in the human word have doomed my afterlife." I sigh, lean back on the branches, and close my eyes. "Well it is comforting that a creature as tainted as me has an afterlife at all. I can accept that my life will end like this when I know my soul had a chance of going to heaven if I die." I went to wipe my cheek and found that a pink petal was on my face. I look up and found that the cherry tree is in full bloom. "There is no way this can be happening. It just bloomed last month!" The tree then has this foggy glow. When the light becomes blinding I shield my eyes and the next thing I know I am on the ground, surrounded by the pink sakura petals, under a full moon.
The tree had disappeared but the shackles still clasp my neck, wrists, and ankles with at least a foot of chain on each. I look around and see nothing for miles just as before when I was in the tree. "Hmmm . . . I guess there is only one thing to do." I spin around in a circle and where I stop I start to walk.
Please please please tell me what you think! and if I need to change my writing stile or i meed to write more like this or whatever . . .
Hope you enjoyed TTFN!
