Yuri Boys Need Love Too!

Chapter 1: Of Manga and Alternate Worlds, Part 1

"Hey, Kaname!" The fourteen year old boy looked up from his textbook. The boy's name was Kaname Izumi. He had crimson red hair and eyes. His hair was a short faux hawk. He was somewhat short at five three He was wearing a plain white school button down and a pair of jet black school slacks.

"Oh, hello Hanako," said Kaname. Hanako Kisaragi was Kaname's childhood friend. She was a few months older than Kaneme. She had light green hair and eyes. Her hair was short with five little bangs. She was somewhat curvaceous. She was taller than Kaname by three inches. She was wearing the school's official sailor fuku which was white and baby blue. She took a seat right on Kaname's desk.

"Studying as hard as usual," said Hanako, in an almost taunting tone.

"I've gotta," said Kaname. "I have a reputation to uphold."

"That's right. You're Kaname Izumi. Star student and athlete. Speaking of athlete, the track coach wants to speak with you."

"Me? Why?"

"The heck if I know." Kaname stood up from his desk and made his way to the coach's office. Kaname knocked on the door of the office.

"Yes?" The voice sounded deep and gruff.

"Um, it's Kaname, coach. You wanted to speak to me?"

"Yes. Please come in." Kaname opened the door, walked in and took a seat. The coach was balding. He was very muscular. He was wearing an all black track sweat suit. "Kaname," he began. "You know you're my star runner, don't you."

"Yes, sir," replied Kaname.

"And when you signed up for track, you know you have to be willing to make sacrifices, right?" Kaname nodded. "Well, one of our runners broke his leg so he can't take part in tomorrow's race." Kaname's widen in horror. "I need you to fill in for him in tomorrow's race." Kaname stood up.

"But Nakamura-sensei, I requested a break from a meet for a while," he protested.

"I know, Izumi. But we need you tomorrow. You were the only runner we can find in such short notice."

"But tomorrow's no good for me."

"Why not, Izumi?" Kaname stood in silence. "As I thought. Please be here after school at four." Kaname nodded. He walked out of the office. When Kaname walked out, Hanako was standing by the door.

"What did Nakamura-sensei want with you?" she asked.

"He wants me to fill in for tomorrow's track meet," replied Kaname

"What's so bad about that?" Kaname sighed.

"A new volume of a manga series comes out tomorrow. And copies of that sells like hot pie."

"This otaku thing is the only thing about you I find so irritating about you. I can pick it up for you tomorrow. I can find it Akiba, right?" Kaname shook his head frantically.

"No, no, no. It's totally fine."

"But you said it sells fast. Wouldn't you be disappointed if you don't get a copy of... say, what manga is this?"

"You don't have to worry about that, Hanako."

"Why not?

"I've earned my break. I'm just not gonna go tomorrow."

"Skipping a track meet? That doesn't sound like you. Speaking of things that doesn't sound like you, you have been coming to school late a lot recently."

"I've been getting up late. I don't get much sleep anymore."

"How come?"

"I was just up thinking."

"Are you sure you want to skip tomorrow's meet?"

"I'm not skipping. I've earned this day off."

"Alright," Hanako shrugged. "Your call." Hanako passed Kaname his school bag. "Man your bag is heavy. What's in here anyway?"

"Nothing you need to concern yourself with."

"If I didn't know any better, I would think you're hiding something from me."

"You're my best friend, Hanako. Why would I hide anything from you?"

"That's true." Hanako started to pinch one of Kaname's cheeks. "You're too cute to lie."

"Stop pinching my cheeks. You know I hate it when you do that."

"Still resisting a woman's touch, eh? Okay, super weirdo. I'm gonna go on home."

"See ya." Both Kaname and Hanako went off in their separate ways. After a short train ride home, Kaname opened the door to his family's house. His house was almost like an apartment building only it had Japanese style closets. He kicked off his shoes in the doorway. He slipped on his house slippers. "I'm home," Kaname announced. No answer. "Mom and dad still must still be at work," he thought to himself.

Kaname walked up to his room. He opened his school bag. "I've gotta stop stopping by the bookstore before school," he said to himself. "Hanako is getting more suspicious by the day." He emptied the contents of his school bag. There were a bunch brand new yuri manga spread across his bed. "Everyone in school knows I'm an otaku. They accepted it. They just didn't know what I'm interested in." He picked up a manga and threw himself onto his bed. "I love yuri."

Kaname spent the next few hours reading his new yuri manga when he heard the clicking of the locks from the front door. He put his new manga away in his closet along with the others and walked out of his room to greet his parents. He met his parents in the living room.

"Hey, mom and dad," he said.

"Hello, Kaname," said his father. Kaname's father was scrawny. He had a short faux hawk as well, only brown. Kaname's mother had medium cut hair that was the same crimson red as his hair. She had big, rosy cheeks. She had a slender build. They were both wearing business casual clothes.

"Are you hungry?" asked his mother. "We brought back some fast food." Kaname sighed.

"Can't we ever have a nice, home cooked family meal like we used to?" he asked.

"I'm sorry, Kaname," said his mother. "Until our hours change, there's nothing we can really do. Unless you want to cook for yourself."

"I'll start cooking for myself then. I'm not hungry now, though."

"I'll put your food in the fridge incase you get hungry later," said Kaname's father. Suddenly the phone began to ring.

"I'll answer that," said Kaname. Kaname walked into the kitchen to answer the phone. Before picking up the receiver, he checked the caller identification. It was coach Nakamura. "Does he ever leave people alone?" he thought to himself. Before answering the phone, Kaname cleared his throat to try to imitate his father's voice. He picked up the receiver. "Hello?"

"Hello. This is Kenji Nakamura, Kaname's track coach. Who am I speaking to?"

"This is Ichiro Izumi, Kaname's father."

"Ah, Ichiro-san. We met at Kaname's first track meet."

"Yes, I recall such a meeting." Kaname's voice started to break.

"Are you feeling okay. Your voice sounds like it's cracking."

"It's fine. I'm just getting a bit of a cold."

"Okay. I just wanted to call to ask if it would be okay for Kaname to stay after school for a track meet."

"Umm, tomorrow is no good."

"Why not." Kaname took a few seconds to think of an excuse.

"His grandmother on his mother's side passed away and the funeral is tomorrow."

"Oh. I'm sorry to hear about the loss. Okay, I'll scratch his name off of the list."

"Alright then. Thank you."

"Okay. Once again, I'm sorry for the loss." Nakamura hung up. Kaname walked back into the living room.

"Who was that?" asked Ichiro.

"It was Hanako," replied Kaname. It hurts Kaname to lie to his parents, but he felt his coach did him an injustice.

"Let me guess, she wants to borrow your notes?" asked Kaname's mother.

"Come on, Midori," said Ichiro. "The girl doesn't always want to borrow Kaname's notes."

"In this case she does," said Kaname.

"As I thought," said Midori.

"I'm gonna turn in early tonight," said Kaname.

"Night," said Kaname's parents as he walked up the stairs. Kaname threw off his clothes leaving him in his tee shirt and boxers and threw himself onto his bed. He thought he could shower in the morning. He closed his eyes.

"I wish I was a girl," he said silently. Kaname fell right to sleep.

The morning sun shined on Kaname's face. He got up and dragged himself into the shower. As soon as he got out he brushed his teeth and fixed his hair and he pulled on his school slacks and shirt. He walked into the kitchen, dug around in the refrigerator and threw the fast food from last night into the microwave. He took a can of iced coffee from the fridge and began chugging it down his throat. As soon as the microwave finished heating up his food, he grabbed his lunch and was out the door. After a short ride on the bus, Kaname was at school. Hanako was waiting for him by his desk in homeroom.
"Morning, bright eyes," said Hanako with a warm smile,

"Do you always have to wait for me by my desk?" aske Kaname, a little annoyed. Hanako took a seat right on top of Kaname's desk.

"Yes I do," replied Hanako. Her smile took a turn for the seductive. "Why? Does it bother you?" She stroked Kaname's cheek.

"Cut that out, idiot. We're in school."

"You're so uptight. Anyway, are you still going to skip the track meet?"

"Technically, I'm off the list. I'm not officially running anymore."

"What do you mean?" Hanako raised an eyebrow.

"Well, coach Nakamura called my house last night. I imitated my father's voice and told him that my grandmother died and I had to go to her funeral today.

"No way." Hanako started to laugh. "This new, cunning you is totally bad. I love it!" The teacher walked in and ordered everyone to sit down and to be quiet. The day went by and finally it was time for most students to go home and certain students to stay behind. Kaname and Hanako walked out of school together. They stopped at the school's gate.

"I'm off," said Kaname. Kaname turned around to leave, but Hanako grabbed his shoulder.

"Kaname, as much as I'm starting to like this new rebellious you, I really think you should reconsider this. I mean you're going through all this trouble just for a silly manga."

"It's not a silly manga," Kaname snapped.

"Okay, okay. Relax, man. I'll see you tomorrow." Kaname walked off in the late spring sun to the nearest train to Akiba, the otaku capital of the world. In a short train ride, Kaname found his favorite manga shop flooded with a bunch of people.

"Are all these people trying to get the new volume of Shoujo Love Stories?" he thought to himself. As he walked into the store, he was instantly drawn to the yuri section. On the top stood his grand prize. A copy of Shojo Love Stories Volume Five. Kaname quickly reached for the manga. As soon as he got the manga, a huge bunch of people began to flood the new releases isle. Then suddenly, Kaname tripped over something block. He fell right on his book.

Kaname stood up and dusted himself off. He picked up the huge blocky thing that tripped him. It was a manga. Kaname looked at the cover. "A yuri?" he asked to himself. "You can't leave a perfectly good yuri on the floor." He took a closer look at the cover. There was a big white splotch. "Weird. A picture of what I think is to supposed to be the protagonist is missing. It doesn't say the author's name, either. Kaname looked on the back. It read "Property of," no name." "Doesn't belong to the store," he thought. He placed it in his school bag. "I'll return it to whoever lost it." He paid for Shoujo Love Stories and left the store. On his way home, he paid special attention to the mysterious manga he just happened to find.

A train ride later, Kaname did the same thing he did for years. Kick off his shoes, go to his room and enjoy his yuri. He cracked open Shoujo Love Stories and began to relax. A few hours later, his parents came home. He didn't bother to greet them. The phone rang downstairs. Kaname figured it was Hanako so he thought his parents would call him down.

"Kaname Izumi!" cried Ichiro from downstairs. Kaname realized he must be in trouble. His parents used his full name only when he was in trouble. Kaname took a long time coming downstairs. He found his parents waiting for him in the living room. They were not happy.

"Kaname," began Midori. "Your track coach called us. What's this I hear about your grandmother 'passing away' and that's why you can't attend today's track meet?" Kaname looked down at the ground. He was ashamed. Ashamed of himself for lying to his parents. "Why would make up something like this?"

"I wanted to get out of my track meet," said Kaname. His voice was full of sadness and shame.

"If you didn't wanted to attend, you should've spoken to us," said Ichiro. "Why did you want to get out of your track meet?"

"I requested this specific day off for months. A new volume of manga came out today and I really wanted to pick up a copy, but coach wanted to hit me with another track meet in the last minute," explained Kaname. His father shook his head.

"Like I said, you should've came to us," he said. "As a punishment, you are grounded for three weeks and you are to give me the new manga to hang onto." Kaname went upstairs and took a shounen manga as a decoy for his yuri manga. He went back downstairs and handed the manga to his father.

"Here you go, sir. Blood Crisis Volume Thirty Two."

"I hope this was worth getting grounded for three weeks. Go up to your room now." Kaname went upstairs and decided to go to bed. He could finish his yuri later. Kaname began to think.

"I need to go to another world. Fast. I just want to get away. A place where I could understood. A place I can call... home." he looked at the mysterious manga at his nightstand. "One little look before bed couldn't hurt." he thought to himself. Kaname looked over the cover. No author, smudge art, a white splotch that look like it supposed have art on it. Kaname opened up the manga. There were no pictures in it. Suddenly, Kaname saw all blackness and fell right to sleep

Kaname felt morning sun shine on his face. He opened his eyes. For some reason. He felt very different. He got up to use the bathroom. He opened his bathroom door only to close it again, pulled down his pants and instantly noticed something wrong.

"It's gone!" he cried. A few seconds later, a violet haired girl about his aged, wearing a maid's outfit opened the door.

"Ms. Asuka," she cried "Are you okay? What's gone?"

"Who are you?" asked Kaname. "And why are you calling me Asuka?" The girl looked at Kaname quizzically.

"I'm your maid," said the girl. "Are you feeling alright?" Kaname continued to panic.

"Why does my voice sound like a girl's?" he asked.

"Because you are girl," said the girl. "Also, what happened to your night clothes. They look different. Last night you were wearing a slip, now it's just a shirt and pajama pants."

"No way. There's no way I'm a freaking girl."

"If you would look in the mirror, Ms. Asuka." Kaname took a glance in the mirror. His short mohawk was now long, feminine hair meant to be tied into a ponytail. His peach fuzz was gone. His cheeks became red and rosy. His flat chest now had c-cup sized breasts. The maid girl was right. Kaname became a girl whose name is apparently Asuka.

"Just where the heck am I?"

"Ms, Asuka, I think we should take you to the doctor's office."

"Umm, yeah. Good idea." Asuka said. "Maybe the doctor's could tell me what's going on here," she thought to herself.

"I'll leave you to get ready then." The maid then left the room Kaname now Asuka is now left to ponder the fantastic situation in from of him.

"I can't believe this. I'm a girl. But why do I have a maid? Why does my room and bathroom look fancy? More importantly, where am I and how do I get back to where I come from? Is this some kind of, other world?"

End Of Part One.
